    This system looks like promising ground work and I applaud your direction of thought for emergency situations like the one in the Horror 4 video. Application to twin tip kite boarding may need some adjustments so I am interested to see how this idea evolves 👍🏽

    Since the lines most of the time get tangled closer to the bar, maybe you can come up with attachments you can use on the regular lines already attached so you don't have to switch lines. And you decide how much length you use. Those attachments can work on your short lines or the kite lines. In my opinion you have a legit product.

      RESCUE PIGTAILS SYSTEM - a solution to the problem of self-rescue for kitesurfers in cases where a body drag with a kite in hands by self-rescue handles is ineffective (strong current, big waves, sharp corals, extremely cold water, etc.)
      Included:
      • 4 lines with loops at the ends, 2 meters long, which can be installed on absolutely any kite between the bridles and pigtails;
      • 2 protective tubes 10 cm long (for example, rubber tubes, as on the pumping system between struts and the leading edge, or thermo-plastic tubes, as at the ends of the bar next to the floats), which are installed on the ends of the rear pigtails for protecting the hands in this place;
      • Rope 4 mm thick, 5 cm long with loops at the ends, which is put on one of the pigtails with one loop, and the second loop is tightened on the knot of this pigtail.
      How it works:
      When the control system of the kite fails, we need to completely disconnect all four lines from the kite. Then we attach two front pigtails to the harness hook by a kite leash carabiner. On the next step we connect two rear pigtails to each other by tightening a free loop of 5 cm of the rope onto the knot of free pigtail, which was pre-installed on the other pigtail. We grab the protective tubes on the rear pigtails with our hands to control the kite. We return to the beach, either with a body drag, but with a flying kite, or standing on the board (for advanced riders, as in this video: ruclips.net/video/9VfZ2ObFPlw/видео.html).
      P.S. Most likely different kite sizes will require different line lengths. So far I've only tested the system on the 7m kite with 2m lines on it. Must try with other kite sizes. But it would be better if kite manufacturers took care of this issue, and in the future they would release their kites with pigtails so long that they could emergency return to the beach in the manner described above.

    Great idea! Would be good if you had 2 extra carabiner clips to clip from tangled bar to above the stopper balls. Easy way to carry your bar back in. Or possibly another 2m line extension to tie your bar so you can wear it on your back?

      I found more simple solution! RESCUE PIGTAILS SYSTEM - a solution to the problem of self-rescue for kitesurfers in cases where a body drag with a kite in hands by self-rescue handles is ineffective (strong current, big waves, sharp corals, extremely cold water, etc.)

      Нашёл ещё более простое и изящное решением : RESCUE PIGTAILS SYSTEM - решение проблемы самоспасения кайтсерферов в случаях, когда бодидраг с кайтом в руках малоэффективен (сильное течение, большие волны, острые кораллы, экстремально холодная вода и т.д).
      В комплекте:
      • 4 стропы с петлями на концах длиной 2 метра, которые можно установить абсолютно на любой кайт между куполом и пигтейлами;
      • 2 защитные трубочки длиной 10 см (например, резиновые как на системе накачки между поперечными и основным баллоном или термо-пластиковые как на законцовках у планок рядом с поплавками), которые устанавливаются на концы пигтейлов задних строп для того, чтобы стропы не резали руки в этом месте;
      • Верёвочка толщиной 4 мм длиной 5 см с петлями на концах, которая одной петлёй одевается на один из пигтейлов, а вторая петля накидывается на узел этого пигтейла.
      Как это работает:
      Когда основная система управления кайтом выходит из строя, мы полностью отсоединяем все четыре стропы от кайта. Два центральных пигтейла с помощью карабина кайт лиша присоединям к крюку трапеции. Два боковых пигтейла соединяем между собой, накидывая на узел одного из пигтейлов свободную петлю 5 см верёвочки, заранее установленную на другом пигтейле. Берёмся руками за защитные трубочки на боковых пигтейлах для управления кайтом. Возвращаемся на берег, либо бодидрагом, но с летящим кайтом, либо стоя на доске (для продвинутых, как в этом видео: ruclips.net/video/9VfZ2ObFPlw/видео.html).
      P.S. Скорее всего для разных размеров кайтов понадобятся разные длины строп. Я пока испытывал систему только на 7м кайте, устанавливая на него 2м стропы. Надо попробовать с другими размерами кайтов. Но лучше бы производители кайтов озаботились этим вопросом, и в будущем выпускали свои кайты с такой длиной пигтейлов, чтобы на них описанным выше образом можно было возвращаться на берег в случае необходимости.

    this makes a lot of sense especially if your lines rip, but is it possible to kite with a surfboard or twintip or is it only for a foil?

    • @Prydeclub
      @Prydeclub  3 года назад +1

      It is easy for foil but I tested it with surfboard too. Works too: ruclips.net/video/nchUWOC61qA/видео.html

  • @mjanek20
    @mjanek20 2 года назад

    It is a nice idea but mostly on lighter winds when foiling. If you're on a TT in heavy wind it's much safer to make a raft out of your kite and sit on it. It's also not so safe to deal with raw lines as they can cut into your skin in higher winds. All in all clever thinking but for most of us if we'd find ourselves in the situation like you in the previous video it makes more sense to call for help. Many bad things could have happened.
