    Dude negotiated like a boss! Maybe the most impressive part of the video ... oh and the self rescue of course, as well as the idea to switch kites. I'll keep that in mind if I ever get in a similar situation.

    This is really worth carefully watching - the Russian guy gets his lines entangled, switches kites and gives his own kite to the guy who entangles with his lines, connects his safety to the guy's kite, swims to it and self-rescues. Hardcore!

    After seeing this either I will stick to my windsurfing because it's so much easier to self rescue or is I get a kite I will just use it with my boards..... Deflate the kite put on board and paddle in.... All that seaweed in the lines was f'd lol..... I have been wondering in self rescue can you actually lay on part of the kite and actually sail it upwind or is that limited to cross wind/downwind

      Good question. It's difficult to tell from the video. It's possible that the other kiter(guy without video camera) jumped into his way, but personally that seems kinda unlikely considering how unprepared and clueless he seemed during the whole interaction. Seeing as how the guy recording didn't include an explanation for the incident as a way to take blame off of himself, I can safely assume that he (the guy recording) was the cause of the incident.

    If it was the other guys fault - he is a true hero! But I wouldnt recommand going into the lines with your hands. These cuts can take fingers or hands or even arms if they get power back on the lines. But he truly knew what he was doing.

    • @sebastiann.2941
      @sebastiann.2941 8 лет назад +2

      1. Dont let this happen
      2. Dont panic eject - survive the first few loops
      3. Try to untangle
      if 3. doesnt work than eject and selfrescue
      so... pretty mutch what they did expect him nearly drowning while getting to the kite.
      I would ask a third one to drag me in, with the dangled kite.
      Yourself before the kite.

    Not big deal. Just common situation for some beginners who just do not know that kitesurfing needs plenty of room. This is why lines have been entangled. Then, there was no big sea neither high high wind...

    Автору Большой Респект, выдержки, самообладания, быстроты принятия решения не занимать. Почитал комменты, советчиков за компом хватает)), Попадал разок в аналогичную ситуацию, но не было водорослей, и не было такого гребаного чикена, и то ощущений хватило. После того как распутался 20 мин. дражился, чтобы доску взять и повезло еще, что удалось найти ее родимую, да еще все на отжиме было))
    Смотрел видео, как будто сам все делал. Короче Пипец и Браво одновременно!
    PS Сам бы скорее всего свой кайт не отдал,(( а здесь поступок явно неординарный, правда, правда уважуха!!!

  • @ackron147
    @ackron147 8 лет назад +2

    Maybe for someone experienced, trying to save your equipment is an acceptable risk and, granted, it was really good save... BUT that could have gone a lot worse, very quickly, for someone with less experience... imo they both got off easy...Personally, I would have sliced those lines!

    • @travelingrandom3106

      Slice the lines if you are tangled in them, if not just release everything

    Holy smokes!!! What a battle! Bad enough and then the kelp arrives. I like how he instantly gets his composure back on the boat.
    Also never negotiate with this kiter. Out in the break, getting waves to the head, lines are a full on spaghetti dinner, kelp everywhere, land no where in sight.. still negotiates with him to save $15.

    • @reginalcarrar9478

      @@_Trixie because sometimes its better to go down than to go up. Big wave surfers have saftey vests they can pull a chord on if they need it a d it will inflate. If you pull that thing and inflate it and get stuck in the impact zone....the next wave will drag you all the way to the beach. It keeps you in the whitewater instaed of letting you swim under. Competence is the only saftey factor that matters in the water
