I experienced the exact same situation as this in Fuerte. I live in Ireland and have been kitesurfing for 20+ years. On a kitesurfing stag in Fuerte and was riding strapless. Came off the board but wasn't so worried about the it (never use a leash). Whilst bodydragging to get back to try and find it I got washing machined by a huge wave, dropped the kite in the ocean. Couldn't get it to relaunch at all in the big surf. Every time the kite got rolled in a wave it dragged me backwards under the water. Tried to release everything but for some reason the safety release didn't work. After numerous times being dragged underwater I manged to undo my waist harness . The whole kite and lines rolled through the surf. I then body surfed in the wave. I was absolutely exhausted and definitely thought my number was up that day. Glad you got sorted in the end.
The real lesson is to never kitesurf further than you can swim or have a solid rescue plan that does not depend on having enough wind to relaunch kite. Keeping calm is the other major lesson that this video demonstrates well.
This gave me anxiety. I am glad you made it back, especially on your own fuel. These are the moments that test our endurance and determination. You sir have passed.
This is even more like a self control lesson than a kitemare! I admire how you reflect your gratitude and became one with the kite & surroundings, this is not just a way to survive a kitemare, its a way of enjoying life as a whole! Thanks for sharing such rich experience..!

Same here. I started windsurfing because I thought I wanted to try kite surfing - right when kite surfing was brand new. Took one lesson (in San Francisco Bay) and that was it - handed the kite back to the instructor in a tiny ball! But, yeah, glad this guy is ok. He certainly got the washing machine special - I’ve had that kayaking in the surf.
So lucky the kite did not relunch when you were unwrapping the lines! In stronger winds that would not be possible! Im glad it all was good in the end. Thanks for sharing the experience!

Thank you for sharing your horrific predicament with us. A good reminder of why I have no business trying to kitesurf as I lack the skill, intelligence, and calm demeanor exhibited by Dmitry. I can't even operate a GoPro camera let alone stay calm while taking out knots in the kite lines while treading water. When I surf I ride a longboard and stay close to shore and have started wearing a leash because I chain-smoke cigarettes and am scared to death of sea monsters and other ocean creatures. Wow! Wow. Just wow. Usually things would've been handled pretty well when the kiter releases the kite when it gets washed instead of u-boating behind it wave after wave. However... so far offshore I understand releasing the kite is not an option. Which makes for a wild ride. Still don't understand how you managed to get all the lines untangled and restarting with so little wind is a work of art in itself. So you're either a very very talented kiter or a very lucky one. But probably both!

Это было эпично. Я даже сам чуть не запутался от страха
Always good to start kitesurfing after you are already an Olympic swimmer. Well done this is a pain in the ass to do on the beach.
That's given the game away. He could have abandoned the gear and swam back in 8 minutes, instead of dicking about with a kite for 73 minutes.
waou! amazing how you deal with the situation. talking to your kite was the best to do!!! congrats for this save!!!!
WILSOOOOON !!!! Just like Tom Hanks talking to Wilson. It gets you out of a jam every time you are alone.
Thank you for sharing such an experience! All respect
This is the most intense thing I have ever seen on YT.
Really? I've seen a lion eat a Buffalo in yt.
that was like the movie "127 hours" minus the chopping off the arm! great job!
Craaaazyyy... Last week took me 45 minutes to untangle the lines at the beach even before starting...
Well the fact that you were publishing this made me know that you somehow survived. Holy Impressive. You sure know how to live life. Me I would have lost my marbles and got the phone out for coast guard.
handled like a true pro. no way i would have been to untangle that mess
Rather than “Kite Horror”, I believe this is called a “Kitemare”
Straight up composure! Well done!
You deserve a medal on that one 👏
I was relieved to see you made it back 😵💫
I couldnt believe it when I saw you putting the lines back on the kite 😮!
Oh wow, thank you for sharing so we can try to learn from your experience!
pfffff..... heftig dit. Respect for your perseverance! If you panicked we would never seen this footage. A less skilled kiter would have drowned for sure.....
Man, you are awesome, great job !!
This was such a thrill! I was so afraid that a shark would attack anytime from the deep. Damn.. so scary
I was waiting for the shark appearance. Couldn't take it, had to fast forward to make sure everything ended happily, then went back and watched.
Where do you think the video would have come from if it had not ended well? Hee hee
@@fedup3449 Could have been recovered. Shark attack doesn't always mean death.
This guy is pretty brave kiting out so far by himself.
Man your my hero, can'y beleive you made it, WOW !
Never have I been so worried about someone I don't know! Praise God you are safe!
Wow I'd still be swimming in.. Well done , cool, calm & collective.
Wow.
Amazing survival and self-recovery video!
Respect Mr. I could never do that. Happy sailing days to you!
No impact/life vest, no straps on the board, swimming far off shore without anybody nearby. Classic russian guy there.
You have to know: he does that intentionally.
@@Johow you mean he wants to die intentionally?
Okay dad
And not to mention you had to get back on a 7 meter tangled kite in such a low wind! Hat off!!
You sir amazing!had presence of mind that makes u safe..fantastic adventure experience .Be safe next time..
Well done on getting back.
