    SAFETY WARNING.
    This video footage was taken in light to medium wind conditions with 8m North Rebel kite. Though I successfully used the technique, described in the video, also in heavy wind conditions up to 35 knots on the same kite, please mind that the steering line pressure may vary, depending on wind speed, kite type and kite size!
    Please note, that this technique is recommended for use in case of serious safety system failure. If your quick release system is not blocked, I recommend to use the QR first, and to release the kite completely in case of any danger.
    Please contact me, if you have any questions, any time. info@advakite.com
    I will provide you with any information I have on this topic for the sake of your safety!

    Man, I can't thank you enough for making this vid.
    I'm a pretty new kiter and just happened across this a few weeks ago. Then a couple days ago, I survived my first death loop. I was on the water, so not as dramatic as the beach clips that you shared. Without that knowledge, I would have had to release the kite which would have made for a pretty bad day. I was shocked at how quickly the kite fell out of the sky the instant the slack steering line was pulled. Brilliant. Super happy to now have that experience under my belt.
    FYI I've purchased your Learning To Fly video too.
    Many thanks. 🙏

    Every kiteboarder must watch this video several times!
    Three days ago my center lines got entagled with the bar, just like the first situation described in this video. My kite was in an uncontrollable loop and just because I had seen this video a few times before I knew what to do. While I was being dragged with a lot of force I managed to untangle the centerlines from the bar, although I had to use some strength. If I had not done this, I would have used the quick release (usless as this video explains) and I would have had to release the safety leash thereby loosing my kite.
    Thanks a lot!

    ...oh my god. Even after more than 18 years of experience it is surprising to "learn" something anymore. It has happened never before to me, even as I experienced the hard first years without any safety, but never mind, all of the safety is worth nothing in a case you described. It can happen, we all know! So many thanks for this helpful thought, Anton. I will keep it in my mind. And it may save a life perhaps. Keep kiting and all the best to you

    SURVIVING THE DEATH LOOP. EPISODE II.
    After just 5 days and 32K of views I've got a lot of feedback from you guys, which proves the importance of the topic. So I will definitely film another episode in January 2016 to answer your questions. Featuring:
    - using the described technique in stronger winds up to 35 knots;
    - using this technique with different sizes like 6 m;
    - facing the bracking of one of the steering lines scenario and more.
    I will have a lot of risky work to do, and I am asking you to support the filming of Ep.II with quick and easy Paypal.me service (www.paypal.me/Advakite ) using paypal account or just a plastic card. In these days of heavy financial crisys in my country, I'm spending my last to keep the project running. Spend 5-10 USD and 3 minutes of your time to spread the knowleage and to save lives!
    Anyway, I will ALWAYS publish safety related episodes for free.
    Thank you!

    This video saved me, maybe my life. In Taiwan I signed up for a lesson with an "instructor". My first question to him was this. "It seems smart to use a trainer kite before my fist lesson... blah blah." He said he can show me much more. Well, he was a bad instructor and he fell in simple maneuveres, so not great at the sport. But he never talked about the spiral. We trained in a "pool" full of rocks and thick mud. An old road was semi-demolished cutting through the middle of the "pool." 20 knots gusting to 37 knots. THANK YOU FOR TEACHING ME FOR FREE WHAT HE DIDN'T CATE TO TEACH ME. Twice i had the spiral with projecting rocks near me. His typical response.. "You pull the bar too much." I love you, man!

    Saved my life to.
    Watched this video a few weeks ago help me a lot with my today kitemare. 25 kn, 7m in a serious hard pulling death loops. Pulled backwards, up side down and under water for a while. There are moments you can't breath and think, this is the end.
    It started after a big air jump, chicken loop hooked accidentally out, relaunching the kite, a steering line was twisted around the bar and the kite started looping. After 2 series of several loops the kite hit the water again and I succeeded to pull the other steering line to get the kite in a stable situation. Released the kite completely. Picked up by another kiter.
    Luckily now safe back at home, with a concussion.
    To all: keep enjoying this lovely sport and keep safe!

    Only one technique is missing in this video.
    If it is possible, when pulling any line, pull the line with your palms facing down / forward = as if you were using your hands to protect yourself from a blow at the waist.
    Because in a case where it is necessary to release the line, the line will not run the risk of traversing its hand throughout its length, causing deep cuts.
    When pulling the line with the palm of the hand down / forward, your hand automatically loses all contact with the line
    My humble tip

    Thanks, very useful indeed. I had a bad situation with my foil yesterday. I fell and somehow the lines got tangled around the mast. That then ripped the entire foil and board out of the water and made my kite loop about four times before I regained control. Luck, a helmet and an impact vest saved me... I think I intuitively got control of the situation but it could have ended bad bad. Will practice this for sure now even though with a foil board flipping around you I’m not sure you’d have much of a chance

    Thanks for this video Anton. I've survived two death loops... one with an 8m F-One Bandit pulling me hard out to sea after a failed drift launch and the other with a 16m Switchblade pulling me toward a small island in the Real Slick in overpowered conditions. I survived both by releasing the kite after the QR did nothing. In both cases I was so lit that I can't imagine that I would've been able to grab, let alone pull, the steering line. My kites were spinning much faster than your re-creation. In the comments I read, I think Steve McCormack has raised some sage concerns, but I'm not sure I understand his worry about the harness hook and his advice get rid of the hook and connect directly. I'm just starting to wave ride and plan to ride unhooked more often now, but should we be avoiding the hook when teaching beginners because of the possibility that the bar will get hung up on it? Would love for you and others to weigh in. And by the way, I got both of those kites back... the Bandit was chased down by a badass French Canadian windsurfer and a kiter buddy grabbed my Switchblade and held it for me as I swam out to retrieve it. But even if I had lost those kites, I'm pretty sure releasing them was my only (and best!) option.

      @antonchernyshov8759  8 лет назад +2

      Was reviewing the comments! Missed yours for some reason, so sorry for taking so long! Thanks for your post! I'm about to release the next Ep. of Surviving the Deathloop, where I'm re-creating a much faster spinning of the kite. The techniques still works, so you'll need some practice to use it, because you're really get so stressed with situation, so you're not able to think much)
      Actually I don't have any experience of beginners getting caught by the line wrapped around the harness hook...Not sure that it's worth to teach them "unhooked".
      And yeah, about saving the kites) You've raised a good topic, I was thinking about posting a short vid on that topic, if it's needed.

    Nice video! My personal instinct would be to pull the already shortened line. Nice tip to pull the opposite and let the power lines become slack!
    I also always untwist my lines in the water before I restart. Just makes the restart process easier, specially considering the bar is upside down when the leading edge is on the water. Maybe it's more of a C kite old habit, but usually I just want to put the kite straight downwind with the leading edge on the water, so it is completely stable, untwist my lines and only then start the relaunch process.
    Death loops in dangerous places are 100% preventable. There is no excuse for getting your kite in a death loop while launching, seriously! If you are starting in the sport, just take classes, don't waste your time and stupidly jeopardize yourself and other kiters. And if you absolutely must learn by yourself in this day and age, know that you will be held liable for hurting other people, closing down a beach for kiting, etc. Kiting is a somewhat small sport in the sense that you meet the same people over and over. People know you at some point!
    In the water, if it does happen, you should not be throwing tricks close to obstacles anyway. And every now and than we all do, but savvy kiters always have it figured out what they will do BEFORE things go wrong.
    Thanks for the video, Anton!

    Wow this video saved me from a real kitemare this weekend. After I released my safety and it didn't stop looping I climbed the outer line 3 times quick and it stalled right out.

      +Michael Krøse You were so close to stop it by yourself! Great example, brilliant filming, I had a feeling, like it was planned, at least I should film it in the same way) Unfortunately, didn't have enough space on the sand with that wind direction. Thanks for the vid!

    It is both of case happened with me. The first case at first steps in kitesurfing in May 2008, second case happened in November 2016 in unhappy landing after jump.

    Este video esta impresionante , tengo un kite de 12m 2018 takoon 0km que todavia no use , esta alucinante , pero todavia no lo use porque no se nadar y no junte coraje para meterme al rio . Estaria buenisimo si a tus videos los publicaras en español hablado , no se ingles , y tampoco tenia idea que podria tener este tipo de accidentes . Gracias por enseñar y compartir tus experiencias , te mando un abrazo desde Santa fe cap. , Argentina .
