- When making the window covers for the Trawler my older used LSz-1 machine started acting up. With a little investigation, and order to Sailrite, and some quick maintenance we where back in business. I love Sailrite as a company. Great customer support and user experience.
I found your video while repairing my stack pack. I'm a newbie sewer and giving my Sailrite a workout. My issue was the thread shredding on reverse stitching. While watching your video I discovered I had burrs on the shuttle gib hook and retaining ring cap spring. We filed those and it solved my problem. Thank you very much!!
Thats awesome. So glad i could help in any way. These machines are very capable..but also very frustrating when not working properly. Have a good 2023!
I have a clone of that machine works great. Those clamps should be made of metal. I mean the whole machine is metal just about. I dont get it why thats plastic do you ,LOL!. Why not those clamps,HA! Thanks for posting your video to this problem that was a weird issue for sure. Learned something new!
Right!? The thing is a tank. They could have cast that in steel easy..lol
@@mvintrigue-trawlerdiy1101 $$$$$$$$$$$ cheaped out on that part for sure,HA!The old Singers for decades were scewed in those spots with two adjacent screws instead of those cheap clamps...
Very helpful video. Thanks!
Thanks for the tips! I'm a novice and am looking to learn and do some projects.
I am doing something I normally don't do and that is commenting before I watch the whole video. But in the beginning I saw you did not have the thread threaded through the hole at top where the needle gets screwed into. There is a hole up top that the thread goes through before you thread the needle. Don't worry I did the same thing. Hope this helps you.
Edit: see if I would have watched the video the whole way through I never would have had to say what I did above. Good job!
Someone else pointed that out. That was just an error in the middle of fixing the broken pieces. My old eyebulbs aren't what the used to be. Later in the video I had to rethread and got it right. Thanks for the comment
@@mvintrigue-trawlerdiy1101 yes I just watched your video the whole way through and saw that you had it done correctly later on. If I would have watched the video the whole way through I would not have had to say the last comment. .Great job!
It's all good. I did rethread it later because the thread pulled out. But I never noticed I had it wrong...even though I was setting tension..lol. only when it was pointed out here did I notice. Can't get in a hurry and double check the easy stuff. Can't believe I made that mistake, can't believe I didn't notice, and can't believe I put it on video and STILL didn't notice...haha.
sail rite sent me a video on how to trouble shoot the bobbin winder . I finished the bimini for our 36 ft trawler, I used their kit for a 4 bow bimini. I highly recommend their kits and tools!
In the middle of my sewing project right now, handrail and cockpit coaming covers.
Ran out of thread, and the new stuff is different than the last stuff and can't seem to get stitching right.
Off to You Tube University I guess to figure what's wrong.
Guess that sailing swap meet thread wasn't such a great deal!
See ya at the Yacht Club
I was using some old thread that came with the machine. It was doing ok but was finicky. I bought new needles and new thread from Sailrite and that made everything a bit better. I also bought three yards of Sunbrella. That actually didnt last long at all...lol. Ordered 8 more yards.
📌. Can the part
be super glued ?

my bobbin winder stopped working. i am in the middle of making a bimini, any tips. should I just buy a new assembly?
I actually bought one of those cheap Amazon bobbin winders and it works great. I havent had to mess with my bobbin winder or try to fix it.
Is the thread threaded at the top of the needle?
Your needle isn't threaded properly!
Yes. Got a couple comments on that. It was missed while doing the video. At the end of the video you can see I fixed it later on. Good eye.
