well done HANSA thanks for given a Aussie a helping hand..... the hours you have committed to youtube mate its well deserved. if i'm ever in the market for a chipper it will be a HANSA now Well done.
Thanks mate lol... I think I spend more hours working on my RUclips vids than in the garden these days! Yes, it's nice to get a bit of luck like this and I appreciate you recognising my effort. Cheers :)
Same here. if I ever get a property with my own garden large enough and I need a chipper this will be the one I get after seeing how well it works. well done Hansa for supplying the machine to Mark. and hope you have fun using your new machine too :-)
It's good to see a brand with an affirmative stand for it's product. I'm in Europe and for me the Hansa brand was totally unknown. I believe their positive action corrected the issue. Well done gents. ;-)
These are by far the best chippers on the market.I own a c9 model it Is easily 20 Years old . I use it in my business. It has a true self feeding Action. The secret is to keep the blades sharp. They are Easily removed and replaced on The machine.HANSA service is Second to none.
Kudos to HANSA for helping out a hard-working bloke like yourself! It’s a grand gesture..enough to make one a customer for life. Great videos as always 👍
OMG, I literally just bought one of these this afternoon! We obsessed over chippers for a long time and decided this was the best one for our needs. Not cheap, but a really useful machine. We’ve got 16 acres so there’s no shortage of chipping to do. Glad you like it. I’d hate to have to call and cancel the order. 😁
The story behind how Hansa started is amazing I used to sell their products in NZ in the naughties I’ve sold their PTO and petrol models They were super popular with hire companies because of their durability Most clients had had bad luck getting an effective small chipper that didn’t get stuck I remember picking one up from their workshop in Te Rapa, Hamilton Even then the hire companies were trying to buy him out. Seriously fascinating bloke, an East German emigre back in the day when that meant escape! We talked a lot of his trips around the Baltic in a sailing dinghy He just knew sound engineering, I think he was awaiting his daughter? To join him in the business at the time. I never once had any complaint about their gear once sold. That’s tough when shredding small items vs chipping thicker tree material Rare nowadays in the ever cheap world of Chinese knockoffs. Great to see Hansa still going strong.
A multiplicity of thanks for a brilliant video about a brilliant product. I have had the smaller C7 Hansa chipper for a few years and every time that I use the machine I tell my wife that "I love that machine." I just have a suburban block but with lots of trees and I found after using electric munchers for many years that they are are tediously slow and totally useless for palms. My wife and I saw a Hansa promotional video online and I knew instantly that I had to have one. I have loved that machine ever since. After having a couple of humungously big, 36 year old trees (macadamia and Lilly Pilly) trimmed this year, the Hansa C7 handled the lot except for some very thick branches. Not having to have a separate narrow chute to grind the thicker branches (like other brands do) is very good because little trimming of lateral branches is necessary to feed the big branches into the machine. I would recommend that Mark gets a full face mask to use with the Hansa as occasionally a chip will fly out of the input chute and whilst goggles will protect the eyes, they won't stop damage to your teeth like a full face mask will. This is especially so when the rubber flap inside the chute wears out and disappears as mine has. Bunnings will sell a full face mask with attached ear muffs that does the job well and is not very expensively priced. I also recommend wearing leather cloves as when the chipper drags in a branch, you don't want to have any chance of having your hand abraded by the branch. I have only recently started watching Mark's RUclipss and, like others, I have been influenced by his recommendations which seem to be stunningly honest appraisals of products. eg I have just installed my first Birdies raised garden bed and am delighted with it. The first plantings of zucchinis and cucumbers are rocketing away and I am delighted that I can tend the garden whilst standing up. Well done, Mark! Your RUclipss are terrific!
Great to hear about your C7 Bruce and thanks for the advice on the face mask! Glad you're enjoying "stand up gardening" it's the way to grow I reckon 😁👍 All the best mate!
My wife & I put up with a small 2Hp Ryobi mulcher for approximately 30 years where mulching a decent pile of foliage use to take most of the day, but not anymore. I saw this video which I played and number of times then did some more research. Needing a portable unit and not too large, I settled on a Hansa C5. I have absolutely been impressed, as Mark said, "what a great piece of kit". Awesome Hansa!
Hi Mark, just want to tell you I bought a C13 chipper based on this RUclips video. I let Hansa know when registering. Keep up the quality videos. My wife and I think your hilariously entertaining and have inspired us to get our garden going. All the best, Carl
I love to see great companies like these working with Local you tubers, it’s great advertising and I’m really excited to see your hard work recognized.
thats so cool, Hansa as a company are the best .. Nothing but praise for them. Ive got the Hansa C21 and it is an absolute screamer. Keep up the great info and the garden looks great. too...
I got new Hansa chipper ten years ago. It is a good piece of kit and it will do an incredible amount of work. I would recommend one to anyone with a larger section, or to hire out. I now have more compost that I need! I used to hire one once or twice a year, but the hire companies don’t always set the blades right, and that can make them hard work to work with. So just make sure the the blades are set properly when you fit them after sharpening them to ensure it pulls the branches in nicely.
I don't even live in Australia / New Zealand, don't even have trees/branches, and now I want one. That was so satisfying. Big ups to them for keeping production local. Ausiess helping Aussies, what a wild idea.
Glad you like your Hansa. I've had one for 6 years now. Still going strong and does everything I need it to. Really enjoy your videos, keep up the good work.
I Mark I bought the Hansa C4 a number of years ago and it is my favourite piece of kit. These are very well made and it gets used regularly. No green waste has left my garden since. Just a tip, the blades last a lot longer if you chip fresh green branches or once the rain has softened up the palm fronds. Also you won't get the dust. Happy chipping.
Mine is a Red Roo. Doesn't use a blade, has a hammer-mill. Will deal with somewhat soggy stuff too (like stable manure). 10 years old now and never a glitch. Couldn't live without it.
What an awesome company who stands by their product to actually come and explain it all, and design it that you can be self sufficient with maintenance and repairs. Shocked at how fast it grabbed and obliterated that palm frond! I’m contemplating buying a chipper for palm waste but tempted to look toward electric as I don’t want more petrol equipment - but obviously the power and grunt is likely not comparable.
I need a chipper!!! I couldn’t for the life of me figure out how to break down those palm leaves! Most of it I’ve been doing by hand and putting them at the wee bottom of the compost and praying they broke down at a reasonable time. Hansa looks sturdy and affordable without being cheap! I’ll give this a go mate! Thanks!
I think you were in your glory trying that machine! Boys and their toys! Good on you Mark! The chipper will make clean up much easier. Well done HANSA!
I'm in the states but a chipper / shredder was the best money I ever spent for my homestead. Not only for making compost that doesn't take forever to break down, but I found that chipping red cedar made for beautiful walkways around the property and since it is red cedar should last a long time.
That looks like an awesome and sturdy chipper to last for many years. I have a very cheap mostly plastic one to use to chip up my flower garden debris. The benefit of mulch around plants is amazing, especially for water conservation. So nice to see that Hansa was watching your video. Congratulations!
Bit of an eye opener that video. If I had known HANSA existed a few years ago I would have one. Next time. We have an acre of privet, wattle, dead Ti tree and all sorts of nastys. It would be unthinkable now not to have a good chipper. Compost for Africa, water retention during the summer, relatively clean processing. It's the full cycle and the garden is magnificent because of it. Pays for itself in no time. All the best from NZ!
Yep - all true. I've had my C13 for about four years on a small property, and it is absolutely bullet proof. One of only two products I've ever recommended online! Manages black wattle, river-gum, jarrah, grevillea easily. Very rarely jams, and so easy to remedy when it does. Hansa - you should be proud of your product. I'm currently looking at reviews to show a friend whose considering one.
I hadn't heard of Hansa, but this was a great intro. I appreciate that they responded like this, and the machine has several nice features (e.g., belt engagement, easy access to fly wheel, etc.). Very impressed.
I bought my C13 about 7 years ago, and I've put up to 90 mm diameter wet cypress, cedar, elm, oak and eucalyptus through it. A very solid reliable asset and time saver. I wear my chain sawing hard hat with ear and full face protection as occasionally the odd sharp projectile can fly back out of the feed chute, particularly when chipping those dry dead branches. It's very tempting to watch the material as it disappears through the blades.
Hey Mark and Hansa, I can confirm you just got another sale thanks to this sponsored video. I’m actually in NZ and didn’t even know the brand and had no idea it was made in NZ. I’ll be ordering one tomorrow after seeing the quality of the chippers you guys make
Im picking up the C7 model tomorrow for my Palm cleaning & removal business. A little bit smaller but will get rid of the palm fronds. So excited after watching your video. Been a subscriber for years. Im in Brisbane love your videos mate thanks.
You convinced me! I bought one, the smaller c7. Apparently they are in short supply because of Covid supply line issues and a factory fire but I lucked into a good 2nd hand one. Thanks for demonstrating it and to Hansa for setting you up.
Honda GX motor (11hp?) and belt drive. That's a total winner! It truly looks like a fantastic piece of kit. Just make sure you're up on the oil changes every 50 hours (or two blade sharpenings) with the right oil and keep good fuel in it, it'll run forever.
I have a the Hansa C16 my self, goes through my coconut palms and bamboo with ease but can clog up if you put too much greenery in at once such as fresh gingers and heliconias mix them up with some hard stuff, and your good to go. I'm very happy
bought the 5~6 hp model. They are right, it will self feed a bit. I was using pruning shears/loppers to cut branches in the feed intake itself so they would go down the shute (probably against recommended procedures) and woosh.. in went the pruning loppers (1m or so), fed in with the branch...what to do? let things take their course and the Hansa ate the shears within a second. Afterwards the shredder didn't want to run so well (not only cutting was off but the belts seemed to smoke a bit) so I took it back to shop, who said a rep from Hansa came and had inspected the shredder and commented they had never seen anything like that before (making me feel a bit awkward). The blades were resharpened at the shop and they got me going again - well done!. Some more setbacks later on when my helpers dropped in oversize branches and the linkages/ belts gave way, but all repairable. Expect this things to happen from time to time and retighten the linkages or use locktight! (but don't expect to drop shears, that was due to stupid). Anyway, great robust product, can taken a real terrible beating (I have given it several), and great to support an aussie company. BTW eventually I replaced the cutters with new ones, and it is doing well.
Nice chipper! I have a Cox shredder/chipper. Remember; After chipping sappy sticky green material, put some dry stuff thru to clean the blades etc Avoid putting fresh chips straight onto garden (Nitrogen draw down) Add this stuff to your green scraps to get a beautiful balanced hot compost.
Long time fan here here Mark! Love your stuff mate as always . It’s amazing to see the recognition and additional opportunities coming your way. Very few youtubers are as genuine as you in their content. Love from Brissie mate!
Great work Mark. I have two smaller choppers but this one looks so much better. Judging by the comments, I think this was a very wise offer by Hansa! All the best mate!
Thanks for the great video! After my dad bought a chipper years ago, I realised I should get one as well. It has been a great help getting rid of branches. I tried to use it as mulch at first but most of it is poplar and maybe it was a bit too acidic. Now I put it on my compost heap, toghether with cow poo and crushed egg shells, it turns into proper compost.
Great stuff mark. I got this exact model about a year ago and its been fantastic. Easily handles all the palms, prunings etc on my acreage in Brisbane and easy maintenance too. Well worth the investment if you have a decent size garden and saves me on buying mulch for all the gardens in the process. Highly recommend Hansa.
Thanks for letting me know Steven! You've confirmed my impressions so far on this well-crafted machine. I was waiting for something to annoy me about it but it just "works" and I'm really enjoying the convenience of mulching everything whenever. Cheers :)
OH MY!!! I just bought a C7 last week. It was delivered today! AND today is the day I found your video. I have 20 plus Bangalow Palms that keep shedding and I plan on making lots of mulch :) I'll give you an update later :) Happy chipping :)
HANSA, thank you so much for blessing Mark with one of your machines! His veggie garden will benefit greatly from all the compost! Best wishes from Kate in Olympia, WA -- 10/29/2019.
as Tim the tool man Taylor would say "more power ahhh ahhh ahhh" I was impressed by 13 hp,I was sold by how fast it sucked in that palm frond in.thumbs up
Thank you for your service! We are in the US military stationed out in Japan. There is something special in serving your country through the military, so friend, thank you for serving yours. That looks like a great chipper but the way! We are looking into a good mulcher for our new florida homestead.
Kia Ora neighbor, Awesome of HANSA to help you out with a chipper and great to see a bit of Kiwi in your garden ! Now your a self sufficient mulcher. Just started doing a few RUclips videos myself on gardening here in New Zealand, nothing better than growing your own food and helping others out to do the same.
We brought a Hansa chipper the next one down from yours just love it - good on ya Hansa - Marks videos are fantastic you deserve the Hansa chipper Mark I hope you got to keep it- good on the kiwi’s
We have a Cox shedder, one of the best investments we ever made. Another great video Mark, make sure you get it serviced at least every two years. Greetings from Sydney mate, take care.
Thanks Mark always enjoy watching your vids.... I was looking to hire here in nz but after watching this, I now know about Hansa chippers.. Looks worth the investment. Cheers
Just bought a troybilt here in Virginia. Second hand, but got it for a fraction of new. Loving it. It's amazing that I've chipped a bunch of branches, yet it ends up as very little mulch. It's fine enough to just scatter around the yard.
Good to see it can take palm fronds. I was looking at one website and the commenter was asking if it took care of palms and it was apparent that they didn't know what a frond was.
I worked a chipper similar to that for a few months in my youth. It would take up to 3" limbs. Don't forget to vent your mulch piles if they're taller than a meter, to prevent spontaneous combustion.
Mark you should have asked if any compost bed manufacturing companies needed a new sponsor at the end. The shredder looks plenty powerful for most homeowners. Keep up the great videos.
On this recommendation I went out and bought a C7 (slightly smaller, only cuts 70mm) for the wife to give me for Christmas. Years ago I'd hired a shredder to do some palms, but seemed to spend more time cutting tangled palm fronds out of the machine that actually shredding, it was wasn't real flash. I also have a top feed electric one, which is pretty hopeless, won't even consider palms and clogs up if the moisture content isn't spot on. Stripping the machine down and cleaning it out was a painful exercise. What my electric shredder would take at least an hour to process, the C7 smashes through in about 10 seconds! After an hours work my burn pile is 1/2 the size it was and will be obsolete by next year.
40 seconds in and I was already hooked! I have way too small garden to justify a chipper, but it was pretty impressive. I am using Hugel culture for now for the larger pieces. Perhaps one day. Congratulations Mark on getting sponsored. I am a keen gardener since childhood and at one point I was thinking of making it into a career as a garden designer.... anyways you should contact companies you love and I am sure there will be some who would love to support you and that way can become self sufficient even more. Love from France. Katerina
I bought a used harbor freight chipper/shredder that wasnt running for 200USD a couple years ago. Cleaned the carb and it was good to go. Its awesome! Get one if you can!
You lucky bugger! I just bought myself a Ryobi crushing/ cutting mulcher today . 2400 watt electric. Bloody brilliant for $400 You keep bonging on like a champ old Mark from Self Sufficient Me 👍
Cracking video Mark, the chipper looks awesome and certainly had no issues eating up those palm branches. Thanks for the demo mate, and well done Hansa, it looks like a tidy piece of kit. Cheers Adam
Those are brilliant chippers …. it's Kiwi made of course. I have the smaller model than yours and it too handles palm fronds with ease. The Honda motors are bullet proof but you will find that you will have to have the blades sharpened regularly and it pays to have that done professionally as it's important to get the cutting angle correct
You have to show your kids in videos more, I enjoyed seeing that you where showing him how to use the chipper. Good on ya for showing them, most kids just wanna stay inside haha
Wowowow!! That thing is amazing! Congratulations on such a fantastic score, Mark! As fun as that looks to use, I bet you're going to have the tidiest yard on all of RUclips in no time. I'm really excited for you.
I'm glad you got a fun new garden toy. For anyone who doesn't have a chipper, FYI some Australian city councils will give you free mulch. For example, Morton Bay council gives free mulch away to residents, you just need to go with your own spade. Other councils give discounts on worm farms, compost bins and free trees :P
Shows what companies to buy from. They are so confident in their product they let people show and give honest opinions.
win / win. Hansa gets a half a million people learning about it's product, and our friend here gets a quality chipper.
well done HANSA thanks for given a Aussie a helping hand..... the hours you have committed to youtube mate its well deserved. if i'm ever in the market for a chipper it will be a HANSA now Well done.

I got a similar thing in europe for 1/5th of price. Good luck

It's like a comedy sketch when they start shouting at each other with the ear defenders on without the thing running
LOL I wondered if anyone would comment on that... I think the whole neighbourhood could hear us! Cheers :)
Haha that’s funny
👍👍to HANSA for giving this top shelf of a man a chipper I had never heard of you be for and now I have 👌
Hansa got a good deal.
Hi Mark, just want to tell you I bought a C13 chipper based on this RUclips video. I let Hansa know when registering. Keep up the quality videos. My wife and I think your hilariously entertaining and have inspired us to get our garden going. All the best, Carl

you’ve sacrificed part of your life so we can enjoy ours and for that you are truely appreciated.

Aw man. We’ve been looking at these for a while now. I think my husband sold already. Will give them a call in the morning. Thanks Hansa team!
Best of luck Janine in whatever you and hubby decide - thanks for watching! Cheers :)

After watching this video took the plunge and bought a Hansa C7. What a ripper 👍
I've got the smaller C7 and it is possibly the best thing I've bought for around the yard. It has done some serious work and is so reliable.
I love that it has a trailer connection. I have one that doesn't and I realize it is a real hassle to take it where I need it on my 10 acre property.
Nice chipper!
I have a Cox shredder/chipper.
Remember; After chipping sappy sticky green material, put some dry stuff thru to clean the blades etc
Avoid putting fresh chips straight onto garden (Nitrogen draw down)
Add this stuff to your green scraps to get a beautiful balanced hot compost.
Long time fan here here Mark! Love your stuff mate as always . It’s amazing to see the recognition and additional opportunities coming your way. Very few youtubers are as genuine as you in their content. Love from Brissie mate!
Never heard of HANSA before but through this video, I am checking their products out.
Great work Mark. I have two smaller choppers but this one looks so much better. Judging by the comments, I think this was a very wise offer by Hansa! All the best mate!
So stoked they sent you a chipper! Will have to start saving for a Hansa 💪
2 points to remember, wood chips for soil fertility are best when chipped with leaf (don't separate ) , don't bury woodchips.
Mark
That chipper is Awesome
Great video
Thank you 🙏🙏
Linda from Ct Usa🇺🇸🇺🇸
So pleasant to watch, glad you got sponsored a chipper!
Cheers :)
@@Selfsufficientme he
I had too much fun when you used the riding lawn mower to tow it all over the garden. Priceless. 😂😂😂
OH MY!!! I just bought a C7 last week. It was delivered today! AND today is the day I found your video. I have 20 plus Bangalow Palms that keep shedding and I plan on making lots of mulch :) I'll give you an update later :) Happy chipping :)
Good on Hansa for doing this involving you!
This exact unit is what I was looking last week. Good to see it in action. Definitely on the wish list.
HANSA, thank you so much for blessing Mark with one of your machines! His veggie garden will benefit greatly from all the compost! Best wishes from Kate in Olympia, WA -- 10/29/2019.
Best commercial I've seen in years
as Tim the tool man Taylor would say "more power ahhh ahhh ahhh" I was impressed by 13 hp,I was sold by how fast it sucked in that palm frond in.thumbs up
Thank you for your service! We are in the US military stationed out in Japan. There is something special in serving your country through the military, so friend, thank you for serving yours. That looks like a great chipper but the way! We are looking into a good mulcher for our new florida homestead.
Kia Ora neighbor,
Awesome of HANSA to help you out with a chipper and great to see a bit of Kiwi in your garden ! Now your a self sufficient mulcher.
Just started doing a few RUclips videos myself on gardening here in New Zealand, nothing better than growing your own food and helping others out to do the same.
Kia Ora mate, and thank you. All the best with your garden and YT vids - you have a great climate for food growing there in NZ! Cheers :)
Oh wow didn’t know it was kiwi made. Might consider it now
I don't even need a chipper, that models not available in the u.s.a. but this guy's is so awesome!!! I watched the whole review
Cheers
Thanks mate! Mine is still going strong. I've had the blades sharpened and the motor serviced but that's about it 👍
Just bought a troybilt here in Virginia.
VERY POWERFULL EASY TO MANEUVER, COMPACT AWESOME MACHINE THANKS FOR SHOWING
Your videos are always so "chipper"! Especially today! Tom from Mesa, Arizona
LOL Cheers Tom! :)
I have hired one of these from Kennards Hire worked great $240 for 24 hours !
Well done Hansa, Great chipper. Will definitely look at a hansa when i am ready to buy. Well done mark, great review
brilliant I am considering getting one now.
Katerina
I bought a second hand C7 last week and despite being half the size of yours it’s still a beast
A better ad, I have not seen. well done
I bought a used harbor freight chipper/shredder that wasnt running for 200USD a couple years ago. Cleaned the carb and it was good to go. Its awesome! Get one if you can!
You lucky bastard! Haha! Well deserved. Better get that compost heap redone so you can start breaking down the mulch!
Thanks mate! Yeah, I miss those compost bays terribly... It's about time I got it fixed up. Cheers :)
The one thing that this chipper is missing, is a big fat sticker saying; NOT made in China
I’d be ok if the sticker itself is made in China. Oh the irony and all.
You lucky bugger!
I just bought myself a Ryobi crushing/ cutting mulcher today . 2400 watt electric. Bloody brilliant for $400
You keep bonging on like a champ old Mark from Self Sufficient Me 👍
Not a bad piece of kit by the look of it and I like Ryobi too. Thanks mate :)
Cool Chipper
Cracking video Mark, the chipper looks awesome and certainly had no issues eating up those palm branches. Thanks for the demo mate, and well done Hansa, it looks like a tidy piece of kit. Cheers Adam
Hey Adam! Thanks mate :)
Thanks for the heads up on sharpening the blades Lance. Yeah, I'll get a pro at the shop to sharpen for me then... Cheers :)
Congratulations on your new toy 😂👍 well done HANSA 👍
You have to show your kids in videos more, I enjoyed seeing that you where showing him how to use the chipper. Good on ya for showing them, most kids just wanna stay inside haha
What a great machine! I want one!
