Used a big chipper years ago at Boscombe down, for the life of me, I can't remember what make it was, but it went through everything we threw at it, probably up to 16 inch! The most precise job I've had to do as it was a sensitive defence site!
Another interesting comparison is to measure how much fuel the machines use, no load, for say an hour. This gives an indication of total parasitic load. The remaining power is what is left for chipping.
nobody has these running idle anyway cause they are so noisy, so idle fuel consumption is a bit pointless don't you think. more like running them for 4 hours in the woods and chopping or 2-3 hours or so and then checking, the reason for multiple hours is so u get a better average since its hard to determine which has chopped more wood.
Dunno whats going on with that timberwolf but ive got same one and my anti stress would of not kicked in with what you put in it. Seemed very aggressive compared to mine... strange. Also im sure my anvil is just one bolt and it slides out. And never had those wires pulled by anything with they are clamped fairly securely and out the way when the chipping neck is folded up anyway. I have heard those switches failing on the forst and don't think they are cheap.
I have the older version of that timberwolf, the tw150 dbh. Changing blades is easy, the grease nipples are hidden though, they changed that for that model.
2020 onwards 230's are utter crud, so weak, in regards to changing blades you don’t have to remove inner spring the bolt comes out easily, the 35 hp kubota engines eat 9 inch wood with ease, we had a forst st8 55 hp on demo and it couldn’t keep up with our 230, absolute animal
Team greenmech 100% after owning timber wolf wasn't impressed I have used lots of forst machines impressive performance but they were new machines what they will be like when they have 1000hrs on I am not sure. just few things I didn't like on the TT6P they keep ringing to sell me one but I am sticking with my GM quad chip 👍 easy to use and maintain we live 30mins away from the factory so parts super fast when we need them. Excellent video guys 🌳
Thanks for your feedback Matt, others have said the same, I followed Timberwolf’s instructions for the blade change so I’m guessing there is a cheat haha.
I’m a Timberwolf fan, works better than most with wet material especially Leylandii. Price and value for money are big factors, how do the prices compare?
Thanks John, Interesting as someone else said wet material the other way around. A lot is down to personal preference. I didn’t find our prices as I find sometimes this effects my opinion before I start testing haha.
Hi J B, do you think it was unbiased? I hoped the only negative was me banging my head on the Timberwolf testicle hahaha. The Timberwolf was at full chat and we had turned the Forst feed rollers down to match the speed of the Timberwolf. I’m guessing your a Timberwolf fan? 😂
i bought electric shredder in 1992 it was made by lescha from augsburg but allen goblin had name on it, i paid 225 squids second hand cost new about 1000 squids it shredded petty good not one home store model came near to it ,i moved a away gave it to my auntie
Word on the ground is after the initial well have you seen the Forst chipper… three years down the line Timberwolves more reliable easier to work on easier to change parts on and less complicated
That’s not my idea of a chipping test. I’d just chuck the fecking lot in one go. The little Timberwolf would be chucking its flimsy guts up in no time. Forst is much better in every situation.
They push the Forst really hard in my neck of the woods. I bet they let dealerships have them on display for free or even pay them. 750kg chipper class is a very European thing due to any heavier requiring a B-E license.
I dont like the Först that much.. maybe a solid machine but not the best. The other one seems to be a good machine with a Kubota engine. The Först has got a Doosan in it, right?
You loaded the Forst faster mate! You where throwing branches in before the last one was finished with the Forst, while you waited until a branch was chipped before throwing in another, with the timberwolf. You must be getting commission with the Forst? Why don't you do a comparison between a Schliesing and a Forst? I can guess which will win!
2:42 I've been looking for ways to reduce yard waste, and this wood chipper seems like the perfect solution. Thanks for the info

Wow that is a big chipper! Thanks 👍🏼
Nice One James Both worked well Thanks again
Thank you Darran 🤩
I have a timberwolf but like the look of the forst great video
Thanks Ash 👍🏼

I have both machines...certainly pros & cons with both, I would like a mixture of the two!
That’s a fair comment, thank you Scott 👍🏼
Best video yet!!!!
Thank you 🤩 I guess you are a chipper fan?
I wonder where forst got the idea for the anvil from and the open flywheel from.

How would a greenmech chipper compare ? As around my area of birmingham i see alot of them about
I have the older version of that timberwolf, the tw150 dbh.
Changing blades is easy, the grease nipples are hidden though, they changed that for that model.
Thank you Marc 👍🏼

You are spot on my 2019 230 would make both of those chipper look like pencil toppers.
would of nice to of seen a Greenmeck on the review. i have used all three and they defiantly seem the most reliable
Interesting, thank you Brendan 👍🏼

Thanks Jacob. I must get a GreenMech and compare. Which model is the equivalent to these?
@@MachineryNation I think it's the new Evo 205d 6" diesel very impressive machine
@@ashtreecare awesome I will check it out 👍🏼
I can say after using a timber wolf all week it took big stuff through it from what i hear replacing the blades is a dose
Another great video.
Cheers Michael 👍🏼
The Timberwolf seems more like the economic option, however, the Först has more features and a better build, I’m team Först.
Changing the blades is easier than described. I'm a timber wolf technician
Thanks for your feedback Matt, others have said the same, I followed Timberwolf’s instructions for the blade change so I’m guessing there is a cheat haha.

man i wish i could have one of these!
It's amazing how much power is required to shred wood. Even so the branches are not that thick this powerfull machines struggles.
I don’t know much about chippers, you seemed to cover all the information required for folk to make a decision on which chipper to buy.
Thank you Al 👍🏼 hopefully I did 🤞🏼
The 2019 230 with the 35hp engine is a beast those chippers wouldn't come near it.
I've got a 2019 230 and the engine is a beast 💪
yes the wires on the side of the timber wolf do get snaged on hedge rows but good reliable chippers otherwise
Interesting, thank you James 👍🏼
Is this sponsored by forst? I think the Timberwolf needs the throttle opened fully
I'm looking for a chipper, these are probably out of my price range. I would probably settle on the simplest one and value for money.
Thanks Billy, we have a video on smaller chippers coming very soon! 🤩
An impact wrench would be nice

Thank you Nathan 👍🏼
which one drinks ;less fuel

Forst is a much better machine just with the safety bits on it 👍
Interesting, thank you Wayne 👍🏼
I'd say I'm team forst from the maintenance perspective... But all I got from this video is testicles dangling from the timberwolf 😂
Thanks Jordan! I still have a lump on my head haha. 🤕
how far can it chuck?
About that far! 😂
Almost as far as Ron Jeremy in the 1970’s
Forst is my fave
These are professional models.. you will need a budget of around 10,000 to 15,000 dollars for these.
Forst all the way!...unless there's a bandit!
You’re enough of a Bandit already Matt 😂😂
@@MachineryNation tree bandit! 😂😂
@@mattdraper1388 something like that hahahah 😂
Kinda alot of work changing blades and anvil on timerwolf

Yeah 750kg regs have been dropped from the uk. Forst apparently don’t have many dealers and deal direct. Where are you based?
Team Jensen A540.
I think we need to include Jenson in another test haha 🤩
Certainly got the big guns out 💪
Hell yeah 🤩
I dont like the Först that much.. maybe a solid machine but not the best. The other one seems to be a good machine with a Kubota engine. The Först has got a Doosan in it, right?

@@MachineryNation just thought it was the doosan Diesel with DPF Filter
Team Först
i bet the forst cost more
Those must cost more than a new car
TP wood chipper is better
Forst
...not Forst ...Först ....
Same thing 🤷🏻♂️😂
⁹jävla skit

Wouldn't need to compare forst to Jenson as they basically just copied the Jenson.
I would be interesting to compare them to see what the differences are 👍🏼
Theyre both crap tbh.
