    Unless the wood is damaged or rotting, I've never understood the chipping. It can be used for lumber, furniture, or even firewood. Please don't waste wood.

      It’s a time sensitive issue. Especially on residential jobs, people want the stuff out of their yard. So chipping up the tree is the most time sensitive friendly method. Organising the lumber to be picked up and dropped off is expensive and time consuming

    That is a LOT of good firewood - Free Heat - being lost. Looks like in Europe.

    • @30x50
      @30x50 Год назад +3

      It IS some kind of firewood, here in Europe we burn the chips for example in special facilities called Blockheizkraftwerke. They store the chips in large storing places and feed them into large ovens. There water is heated and then delivered to communities. Some hotels in the mountains also have this kind of heating. As there is every part of the trees chipped, almost nothing will be wasted. Greetings from Bavaria

      @@30x50 Wie geht es dir ? Been to Germany many times, for exchange students, work, and pleasure. LOVER Bavaria, my favorite area. I did not know about this system of heating. Most of the homes I visited while there had radiant floor heating. Very nice and cozy. Never did see a wood burning system in any of the homes I stayed in though. I do know that Germans never waste anything, as they squeeze out what is usable. That is why I asked my question. Danke

      I work for a Tree service removing dangerous / dead trees on residential properties in NC. We generate so much material, that chipping is the easiest way to handle it and take it off site. For big jobs we bring in a log truck for the stem wood of a tree. Another thing to note is that all of your pine species are too sooty for use in home fireplaces, so unless the pine trees are big enough to use on a saw mill, chipping is the best way to go.

    • @dbdmountainlion9459
      @dbdmountainlion9459 Год назад +5

      I agree, however sometimes trees become sick and they no longer have any use to the environment and can also spread the sickness to other trees around it via roots. So they have to be chopped to save the entire forest but yes I hate it when they cut trees that don’t have a reason to be cut

    • @sonicdisruptor3770

      Here’s something you might not be aware of. The UK buys “biofuel” from Canada and USA. This is basically chipped wood, trees that possibly could be used to make things. Anyway the “biofuel” travels across the ocean by dirty diesel ships. The country of origin pays the “environmental tax”on the biofuel which means the imported wood chips are considered green non polluting fuel. It’s a strange world we live in.

    • @ML-dk7bf
      @ML-dk7bf Год назад

      Depends on the species and application, your seeing a compilation of a bunch of different chippers, chipping for different applications, some of these machines are working to provide wood chips for pulping for paper production, most of the others are just disposing of the trees in the most efficient manner possible. Also that first tree shown in the video is unrelated to the content of the chipping video.

    • @ML-dk7bf
      @ML-dk7bf Год назад +1

      For most tree services, this is the easiest and fastest way to handle a lot of this material, and all of your pine species are too sooty to use for firewood in houses. The tree service I work for does save a lot of wood for firewood, but for anything 12in and under, it goes into the chipper.

      I'm a lumberjack, we don't go cutting trees down for fun, we do it because the landowner wants it cut. We've cut down many loved "family trees" because they were dying and gonna fall on the customers house if nothing was done. So long as you plant new tree's and add the biomass back into the forest one cut tree doesn't equal the rain forest disappearing.
