I could definitely do without the occasional bursts of loud heavy-metal music (?!?), but otherwise, this is a terrific, very helpful review. Because of it, I'm going to order two of the Tactical Wakes and plan to brush each one with epoxy clearcoat before using it.. Maybe that'll extend the life of the fragile original paint a little longer. As suggested here, I'll also replace the split rings with Spro or Owner equivalents. Many thanks, Chris
Thanks for watching and thanks for the input. I think you may like the bait, it continues to catch fish for me. One of the best commercial out of the box paint jobs. PS Don't expect the paint to last.
Nice! Just got mine a week ago and can’t wait to use it. It was good meeting you at the bass hole this last weekend, son loved that toy you gave him. Thanks for what you do!
New subscriber here. Great channel. Doing homework for my first-ever Delta trip next week. Bought this wakebait 2 weeks ago specifically for the Delta trip. Love at first sight. Told Matt Allen yesterday that I have big expectations for the bait but I’ve never seen a bait in a fancier box. Save a tree; pack in cardboard. 😂Gonna give the box to my wife for her finest jewelry! Lol! Anyway, thx for this great review.
Thanks for the support Terry. Good luck on your first delta trip. The LM have been on the rebound this week. We have some weather coming in so things may change. Where are you going to be launching from?
I absolutely love big wakebaits in the New England. I got one Christmas and see the potential. I'm a slammer guy and I see it doing the same thing my 9 inch Slammer does. I have cabin fever already!!
You got more time on the bait than I have so you know how the fish blow up on them. Can't wait till no moon this weekend, heading out for a all nighter looking for one bite. If that bite comes, and it's the bite I'm hoping for, I guarantee you will hear about it.
Great review! I just purchased from TW three of them for my lunker reservoir in Texas. Favorite colors? We have large gizzard shad, crappie, carp, and large bluegill for the baitfish.
Store them in any swim bait size box. Just make sure the tail is not bent. Vary the retrive speed. These baits don't blow out and they can be fished fast, really good for stripers when fished fast, stop and go for LM.
Thanks for the information Steve I got mine about 10 days ago like I told you and I have been wading through so many small fish on drop shots frogs but I’m consistently getting 4-5 pound class Fish all last week when I couldn’t get bit bigger fish on anything else. And you just know any time you throw that thing you can get a double digit on the Delta and to anybody thinking about buying it it’s high float so you don’t have to worry about losing it.
I see one feature I don't like.no rotation swivels on the hooks..rotating hooks will save a lot of fish like stripers from twisting off..I use the the GRat sneaky pete .
I can tell you right now - the answer is yes. I have caught about 10 fish on the bait and I would say 4 have been under 2 lbs. 10 fish in 2 weeks is a good number when considering I am fishing the bait at prime times and may only have the bait in the water an hour to an hour and a half over the course of the day.
Thanks for the question Randy. All the baits you mentioned are great baits. The Triple T and the Bull S have a more settle presentation for use in calm water. The Slammer and the tactical bait are more similar. I think the tactical is a bit more versatile when it come to being able to retrive the bait at a wider variety of speads. The Tactical has a much better finish and paint. The joint on the Tactical is also far superior than the Slammer. You can walk the tactical much more aggressivly, its more responsive. The slammer has more sizes available. None of them swim the same, some are good and some not so much. The slammer is also hand made in the usa along with the bull shad and the tripple t. They are all great proven baits.
I hope they made a lot cuz I want multiple lol…75 is actually pretty cheap considering some hand made lures are 150+. Not saying they’ll perform better than some home bait makers stuff but for 75 bucks I’d be willing to see what they do! Nice review
Nice video👍🏻. I’m very curious if know or understand why the 210 doesn’t have rotating hooks on them? That seems like a must have for such a big bait, and for keeping a big bass from getting any leverage or control on you. I’m kind of surprised rotating hooks were left out. Thanks. Patrick
No rotating hooks on this bait. That would have been a nice touch. I have went with a lighter wire hook and have not had a problem with baits being thrown. I use a fairly soft swimbait rod.
Nice video. Thanks for the good information. Pulling the trigger on a $75 bait is still not easy. I have a hard enough time spending $25 on a vision 110. One comment on the editing… the music took away from your content. That is my opinion but it almost made me stop the video. Again thank for putting the effort into this.
I have shirts in L and XL. My Gmail is scooper9561032@gmail.com. I take PayPal and Venmo. I can ship or if your on the Delta we may be able to make a river meet
I have had no problems. I will say that with a 4 oz bait one bad cast that hits a rock, it could be all over. I think the R2S is very well built and , for me, seems to get more bites that lots of other baits in the same size class. I get a good number of fish in the 2 pound class mixed with the big girls.
The only way to get a Mikey Sr is on Ebay and they are pricey. You may want to check out a Megabass SuWitch. Nice bait for about $40. Slighty smaller than the Sr. but has the same roll and catches fish. Let me know how you do.
@@indeeponthedeltawithstevec5997 thank you for the recommendation. Looks to be a good bait but I’m wanting something bigger more a full size swimbait in the 2-3 oz range
I bought one 2 weeks ago and had no luck yet. But, I am a novice when it comes to big swim and wake baits. Are you casting this lure far or are you trying to pitch it? I have been trying to figure out what's best. Trying to cast it 10-15 yrds it causes a big splash. Which in my eyes scares fish. I have been toying with pitching it but that is not so easy given the size. I feel like I will get a hog when using it, but need a little guidance on throwing it
With big swim baits I like to chuch them as far as I can. It helps when you have a slight chop on the water. The landing is not suttle and it does spook fish, thats why you need to make a long cast. I may do a video on fishing large swim baits this fall. Thanks for watching sending the question.
Was going to ask you when I saw it on your video last week. Any issues with the big tail when fish hit it? I fish the slammer 9 inch a lot, curious how this stacks up to it? You like it better than the Mikey?
I like the big tail, it makes the bait easer to see and I have not had a problem hooking fish. I love the Mikey, I think it's the best wake bait I own for numbers and is also a good bait for big fish. I like the mikey on calm water. If I'm looking for one big fish and there is some surface chop, I go to the R2S Tac. Bait. I am really looking foward to seeing how the stripers like it.
Only 14 $5 dollar payments. The good thing is that the bait should be around for years, If you loose one it will most likly be on a fish. I don't know if that helps but just some food for thought.
$75…really $75. Who has lost their mind to buy these things. Yea ok, hand painted. Unless someone gives me one I’ll never own one. To each his own. Great review though.
$75 is not cheep. I can say this R2S out of the factory is a better built bait that most costom baits. Good Luck and and always follow your instinks. Memories are priceless.
Hi Brian. I try and keep the bait reviews to under or around 10 minutes due to most anglers attention span. I have had the bait about two weeks. My guess is I have landed aprox. 10 fish on the Tactical Wake Bait. Some were smaller fish in the 2 lb. range, most the fish have been in the 3.5 lb. range and 2 fish have been right around 6. I have also had several big bites that I have not connected with. I am a one man show, so getting fish on camera is not easy, especially at low light. I may only get 50% of the catches on film. I can tell you that I really like the bait-it gets bit-it gets big bites and if you continue watching I am sure you will be treated to lots more fish catches.
I could definitely do without the occasional bursts of loud heavy-metal music (?!?), but otherwise, this is a terrific, very helpful review. Great review Steve! Can you make a couple recommendations on rods that would be good for this bait? T hanks!
