I wouldn't go as far as saying he has never sounded better...he certainly isn't close to how he sounded in the 80s and early 90s. Understandable with his age.
First seen Geoff 40 years ago on Ryches Premier EP Tour. Sounds as good today as he did then. To this day one of my Very Fav All Time Vocalist. Will stop everything in a dime to listen to him, watch him live. One of the greatest!!!
Saw them in 84 at the forum in LA. They were awesome! Geoff has that one of a kind voice that just gives you goosebumps… He’s one of the best singers of all time! Thanks Geoff for sharing your gift to the world!
Ridiculous. The band...spot on. Electric kit? Sounds great. Geoff sounds amazing. Forgot what a good album Empire was/is. Going to put it back in to the rotation. Bravo, gents. And thanks, Geoff, for keeping this going.
It looks like he alternates between an acoustic kit & electric kit. Probably depends on the size of the venue & acoustics of the building. I had that same reaction though! 😂 They sound amazing & Tate is the 🐐
WoW - Geoff has really assembled a tight band! And he sounds really good. There were a few years there where it looked (or sounded) like he was just done. But this is really a triumph to still produce live vocals on this level - show's how professional he can be and that the training still works. Whatever he's doing I hope he keeps it up. Simply Fantastic.
@@paolalaverde4112 The whole band really. I haven't seen too many touring acts using a digital drum set. He gets a good sound out of it. Makes it a whole lot easier to set up and definitely makes it easier to get a consistent monitor mix. I work as a sound engineer and I deal with different scenarios all the time.
Indeed. I can imagine the negative comments must have gotten back to him and made him realize he needed to step up his game. Thankfully it worked. There was a while there where I had absolutely no desire to see him perform but I may reconsider now.
I agree with you, Freaked me out to pop on this tonight. I see he is a real man and finally put on some weight but the vocals are still only second to Halford

As a fan of Queensryche from before Rage for Order, I was highly disappointed at everything that happened with the band and the break up, but I still love their music. While Operation: Mindcrime always holds a very special place in my heart, Empire was perhaps as close to first place without actually being first place as it could be. And Jet City Woman, being a karaoke favorite of my own, was awesome to hear live from Geoff after so long. Thank you fort sharing.
For those people who leave a negative note... Geoff Tate at his age to be able to get out and sound like he does, is freaking amazing!! I remember way back when they were first coming onto the scene. He still sounds amazing!! Geoff Tate... get it!!!

The drummer's Roland semi-acoustic kit sounds like a real drum kit, even though it's electronic. A blend between the two. Truly amazing. The snare is fantastic. And the kick drums kill. Even the cymbals sound real. Sounds to me like Roland finally has the blend between acoustic and electronic drums nailed to the floor. Get the real feel of tunable acoustic drums, with the sonic reliability and consistency of electronic drums. Pretty amazing. Especially on the double kick stuff. As a drummer, I keep looking at the kit, and feeling pretty blown away. The power of great technology.
First time I saw Queensrÿche was at CA. Santa Monica civic center 1983 blow me away and Geoff Tate sounds as good now as he did back then absolutely ROCKS.
To be "just as good" they, as a collective, would need to have a library of music that equals that of the original QR linup. They don't. Now, as a tribute band, they're pretty decent. To demonstrate my point; Aussie Floyd isn't just as good as Floyd, but they're brilliant at mimicking the masterpieces that Floyd created. Create/Coppy. Wholly different things.
@@impablomations No, Geoff may, but the band, as a band, does not. Unless, that is, they've miraculously created and recorded several albums together in the last couple of years, won Grammy's, and had multi-platinum sales as a group. That the case?

I was also impressed with the members of the band. Young, talented musicians support him. Someone needs to be credited with hiring these fellas. Wow. If I was forming a band I want them on my team.
You have singers that take care of their voices and take care of their health and Jeff Tate is one of them he will always be a powerful vocalist he still has the sustainment and that killer vibrato that's always made him one of the best
My gawd, Epic !!!!!! Amazing how Geoff still has the vocals. Its been a run for sure. Sad there won't be a reunion with originals. Thank you this recorded concert.
There aren’t many vocalists his age or older that can still pull it off. Mickey Thomas is one of them and he is over 70, Tony Harnell, and Michael Sweet ate pushing 60, and they both sing awesome still. Bruce Dickinson is also still kicking ass!
If you know HOW to sing without damaging your voice you should be able to sing all through life. Singing shouldn't hurt. If it does you are doing something wrong.
This man's voice is still great. A singer who sings a lot of high pitched notes back in the 80's till now is seldom achieved over a long period of time. Well here he is still reaching a lot of those note. I know people may have want to hear the best memorable high pitched scream progression that has made him rated as one of the best singer's of all time in the beginning of Take Hold of the Flame, but people were in awe when they hear the 1984 concert in Japan of that song. He still has a great vocal rage to this day.

Sure it was at least a great memory . Nothing can take it away
Just saw Geoff this last Saturday here in Vegas and dude's voice has never sounded better. Awesome show.
I wouldn't go as far as saying he has never sounded better...he certainly isn't close to how he sounded in the 80s and early 90s. Understandable with his age.
@@freedomisslavery6840 Rob Halford
Going see this Saturday
We all owe this guy for posting this show. Great quality. Tate sounds well rested, and I hope you were able to enjoy the show as well.
Kudos! Tate sounds great here!
He is the best vocalist from my yrs of listening and loving music.and he still sounds great!woo!!!
He still has it!
First seen Geoff 40 years ago on Ryches Premier EP Tour. Sounds as good today as he did then.
To this day one of my Very Fav All Time Vocalist. Will stop everything in a dime to listen to him, watch him live. One of the greatest!!!
Great show in Chicago land 89 with local band Trouble opening for them. Queensryche were supposed to open for Kiss but that show was canceled.
I saw them back then as well, in Spring Valley NY.
This is fantastic! Geoff in fine voice after all this time is proof of what we always knew; a voice for the ages. Tight band!
Saw them in 84 at the forum in LA. They were awesome! Geoff has that one of a kind voice that just gives you goosebumps… He’s one of the best singers of all time! Thanks Geoff for sharing your gift to the world!
Couldn't agree more!
Geoff hasn't sounded this good in years!! Very happy to hear this talent again!
Ridiculous. The band...spot on. Electric kit? Sounds great. Geoff sounds amazing. Forgot what a good album Empire was/is. Going to put it back in to the rotation. Bravo, gents. And thanks, Geoff, for keeping this going.
Warning rocks too!! Be to watch that vid I loaded
It looks like he alternates between an acoustic kit & electric kit.
Probably depends on the size of the venue & acoustics of the building.
I had that same reaction though! 😂
They sound amazing & Tate is the 🐐
Geoff voice sounds better than ever! WOWW!!! After 30 years...nothing short of remarkable...
He is the GOAT
I agree best song deliverer
Make that almost 40 years. Whew!
He is on point Gene!
That drummer is awsome!
Hell's bells, they sound good. Love it!
SO glad to see that Geoff still has a good portion of that golden voice left. One of the absolute best vocalists in the history of the business, and let's not forget his skills as a writer and maker of melody.
Geoff sounds amazing. I am blown away with his vocals at this stage in his career. What a comeback, amazing ! His band is super tuff . I remember Empire like it was yesterday. What a performance.
WOW...ONE OF ME FAVOURITE ALBUMS EVER...SILENT LUCIDITY IS JUST MAGICAL, THANKS MR TATE AND THE BAND
The musicians that Geoff has assembled to support him are fantastic live! Geoff is Queensryche!!!!
I agree! I’d put them right behind the originals. Definitely, better than the karaoke Queensryche band, and no offense to them, but this is the real QR!
Pre recorded. Fake.
@@Cryptosifu Totally agree!! no Tate no Ryche!...and now rockenfield is taking them last 2 assholes too court too hahahaha , Karaoke band ...I stick with the real stuff
@@Cryptosifu NOBODY can even come close to Rockenfield or DeGarmo. This band is really not that good in comparison.
@@jdpagefan Chris and Scott were the best
Damn! His voice sounds great. Still crystal clear and chimey ringing like a bell.🙂👍
Such a beautiful contribution to rock my whole life since 80s. The emotions this man's voice pulls out is phenomenal and beautiful. Thank you for your pivotal contribution for your fan-family. ❤️U. Thank you so much!!🙏💫💖
One of the best ever to sing through a microphone 🎤 purely awesome
Geoff's voice is still great and sounds just right on. Love Queensryche, always have and always will..
I agree Sue!
Geoff Tate still has a great voice at his age.
totally Christa!
Amazing!! His voice is killer still. One of my favorites
Mine too!
Band sounds great and Geoff sounds incredible. I haven’t heard him sound this good in years. I’m glad he got his voice back.
Gotta be one of the most AWESOME vocal come backs ever! Geoff sounds INCREDIBLE!
I saw him back in 2014 at the Cotillion Ballroom.... He rocked us ALL !!
Been listening to Empire quite a bit lately. Absolutely one of the best ever releases from the 90's and arguably the best release by Queensryche. Rock on! 🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻
He never lost any of his voice. That's unusual. Rock n Roll will never DIE!
I have said it for years. As far as hard rock vocalists are concerned... Tate is THE GOAT. PERIOD.
I don't think there has ever beens another singer that has hit the e5 . He danced around it " Take hold of the flame . Will still be one of my favorite top five metal singers of all time .
Wish Chris Degeermo was doing the backup vocals though...
THAT VOICE IS STILL KILLING IT!
Hell yes it is!
Geoff sounds WAY better than he has in the last 10 years. Truely a great talent. He plays his voice like an instrument, many other singers just don't have that.
Got to be honest, I'm happily surprised here, Geoff dialed it in for years and by time he left Queensryche wasn't even trying
Agreed, he seems to have found his form again. Also, he seems to be enjoying the performance too.
I saw him in 2019 the video is on my channel, you can really tell the difference!
Happy Geoff is a bad ass...his original band were just douchebags..he was tired of it. He has new life in his new band!
That's because REAL music has all but died these days...sadly. Thank you to the man who filmed this! Enjoyed big time!
Didn't see him this night but two nights ago in Sacramento at the Holy Diver. It was such an excellent show they do. "RIGHT ON" guys. You so do ROCK!!
So good!
The sound is so good on this vid! DAMN!
Wow Geoff Tate sounded great!!!!
Voice is always on point, THE RYCHE🤟Crazy his band were not even born when this came out..
Damn, sounds the best in YEARS! He must have changed something in his life to do this at his age!
For those people who leave a negative note... Geoff Tate at his age to be able to get out and sound like he does, is freaking amazing!! I remember way back when they were first coming onto the scene. He still sounds amazing!! Geoff Tate... get it!!!
The band is just fantastic! Geoff sounds really good also. He looks to be having a great time also. Looks really relaxed. It’s great to see him and this great group of musicians. Best wishes to them. Thank you for the great video! Really, really nice!
I thoroughly enjoyed this whole concert! Geoff still has his pipes. Very impressive!
Saw him last night in Des Plaines, IL. Amazing show! Geoff and the band killed it!
Incredible performance......Can't believe Geoff is 62 and he still sounds amazing.
This band has now found its own level and Geoff Tate is taking it to the next level. Saw Queensryche back in 89 on the Empire tour and again without Tate in 2000's and 2010's plus seen GT Operation Mindcrime twice still very impressed thanks Geoff
I've seen Geoff multiple times since 1989 and he's killing it. One of the greatest voices in rock. Much love and respect
He's better than ever!
Tate's voice has improved so much over the past 10 years, he is pretty damn close to where he was in the 80's and 90's. Good job, Mr. Tate.
What the heck are you listening to? Not this video, that's for sure.
@@imandan1966 might wanna clean you’re ears
@@MichaelMyers-pj2uk seriously? There’s a reason why he purposely points the mic to the audience for the high notes. His voice isn’t close to what it was. Not knocking it. It is what it is and he sounds pretty good but you can’t compare him now to what he was back in the day.
@@MichaelMyers-pj2uk 'you're' ears? Learn some basic English
@@imandan1966 you’re mad over an auto correct issue ?? Also what are we in 2017 ? Get better comebacks than grammar that shit don’t mean anything nowadays lmao.
HIS VOICE. unbelievable
Agreed!
HE is unbelievable!
Geoff Tate is Queensryche, and this proves it, love you Geoff.... and what a great video, great job Scott!!!
First time I saw Queensrÿche
was at CA. Santa Monica civic center 1983 blow me away and Geoff Tate sounds as good now as he did back then absolutely ROCKS.
Gene his voice has survived the ages!
Im a Queensryche fan but I think this band is just as good. Great job Geoff!
Agreed!
@@goofayoo Of course they have the library of music that equals original lineup, it's Geoff Fucking tate on vocals.
@@impablomations No, Geoff may, but the band, as a band, does not. Unless, that is, they've miraculously created and recorded several albums together in the last couple of years, won Grammy's, and had multi-platinum sales as a group. That the case?
@@goofayoo Neither does the current incarnation of Queensryche. Only original member left with writing credits is Michael Wilton on some songs. Geoff Tate had writing credits on many more songs. he has just as much right to sings the songs he wrote/recorded
Agree, haven’t heard Geoff sound this good in years. Lockdown has agreed with him!
Geoff is killin' it,.Has a ton of personality that really open this music and makes it sound FRESH,.The audience is fantastic also!,.Bravo
He is awesome!
Watching this performance took me back 30 years. What an Era to grow up in! Band and Tate sounded spot on. Thanks for posting!
In so glad!
Just saw them at the Vogue in Indianapolis. They did themselves proud for sure. I've seen many shows there and this was one of the best. Yes, Geoff can sing beautifully and deserves kudos for still amazing us with his voice. He is a force on stage, charming and sincere. What a professional.
So effortlessly. Def one of my fav singers of all time.
Magic voice!
One of the greatest singers ever combined with one of history’s greatest albums!
Love your voice, Geoff!!!!!!!!!!!!!Your band is fantastic!!!!!!!!!Cheers from Buenos Aires!!!
My gawd, Epic !!!!!! Amazing how Geoff still has the vocals. Its been a run for sure. Sad there won't be a reunion with originals. Thank you this recorded concert.
You're welcome!
So awesome! Rob Halford went on his own and was f'n unbelievable! Hes back with priest .
He's 62 years old now, and it's amazing his voice is still strong e in tune
There aren’t many vocalists his age or older that can still pull it off.
Mickey Thomas is one of them and he is over 70, Tony Harnell, and Michael Sweet ate pushing 60, and they both sing awesome still. Bruce Dickinson is also still kicking ass!
Are you serious?!?! Incredible 🤘🤘🤘
62????? Holy F, I wouldn’t put him past 55. He’s really aged well.
Amazing!
If you know HOW to sing without damaging your voice you should be able to sing all through life. Singing shouldn't hurt. If it does you are doing something wrong.
It makes me so happy that Geoff’s voice is back after so many years…a great singer with an outstanding voice
He's still got it, what a voice, and what great band!!!
Glad to see him not butchering his songs AND having a great time doing it. This was a great concert to watch thank you!
