I just found you the other day and I am so glad! I watched the one on storing berries and it was great. This one is even better! I'm happy to see that you have a bunch more so my kitchen is going to be even more efficient! Thank you! You are informative and very enjoyable to watch.
Just accidentally found u..wow..thank u so much..I just threw out more strawberries yesterday ..snd just bought 2 bags of avocados.(was always wondering the best way to store those too..🤗🤗ur the best for all u do for us🤗🤗🤗
Sweet tshirt .... thanks for sharing...this was great. The look on your face after trying the on with vinegar 😂😂 priceless. Did you just flip off and cuss at the 🥑??? Lol
Jerry - I watched the whole video and did not see HOW you blanched the avocado. Did you cut it first? Blanched it before cutting? Can you refer me to a time where you did it since I can't seem to find it? I want to learn how to do the blanching. THANKS!
@@cs160 I would think that would cook the inside flesh too much, which can make it taste off. The purpose behind blanching before it's cut is to cook it just enough to kill what's under the layer of skin. Then you put it in ice water to halt the cooking process so it doesn't affect the flesh. Blanching a cut avocado would be directly cooking the flesh.
I don't laugh out loud that much but you were were hilarious! I learned so much! I'm new at using avocados so this was very informative! I'll try the onion method, it seems the easiest!
I'm becoming a fan.!! Good to know my method (with the pit) works good. Never considered blanching....that's strange, especially whole with the skin. How/why does THAT work. VERY strange.!
Thank for this, it's very helpful. I just wanna know if the blanched one had a hint of bitterness? I was planning on making an avocado cake but I'm about worried that it'll taste bitter because I've read somewhere that a cooked avocado can become bitter.
@@jerryjamesstone Thanks for responding.😊 I already pushed through with the avocado cake, but it wasn't successful. It really turned out bitter.😓 I don't know if it's because the avocado I used was almost overripe or just because it was cooked.😅 But still thanks for your advice, I kept the remaining ones in the fridge to prolong the ripe stage and avoid rotting just like what you said.
I just dice up mine when simi ripe into cubes and spread them out on a baking sheet lined parchment paper and flash freeze for 3 hours to overnight and bag the up. Yes they are slightly brown looking, but are not mushy and still keep there original flavor. The cubes are all lose and I'm able to get out just what I need without them being all froze together.
Thx-! I was very surprised by the blanch-as another commenter said “who’d a thought it” I always thought oxidation was the main culprit? Can you tell us why the blanching is effective? What is happening..why does this work?
I go into it a bit in the video, there are things living between the peel and fruit, that when exposed, cause the browning. Blanching kills those things.
Thank you for this! I’ve tried looking up ways to store it and EVERYONE only swears by the lemon/lime/oil method, but I don’t have those things on me. I only need to keep the other half for a day, so the water method seems best for me! Definitely won’t keep it in there any longer than needed with it, by the look of your face in the video 😂 Great video as well. Nice bits of education and great faces 😂👍
Loved your expressions and thank you for going through some torture in making this video I was so sure you won't eat the gross looking ones but you did 😱
@@jerryjamesstone on a side note your video actually helped me a lot, I always had this browing problem. I can never eat one whole (at once) since I am not a 🥑 fan I liked the lime method and today morning for the first time thanks to your suggestion made guac with the leftover green one!! So thank you once again!
So glad i watched all the way thru. Those reactions were amazing. You made my day!
Glad you enjoyed!
Awesome! Thank you so much for the scientific approach and covering so many methods.
Glad it was helpful!

I’ve always used the pit method. Glad to know this held up! I saw your photos of this on Twitter and it’s cool to see it all here.
Awesome! Thank you!
I couldn’t find how to do the pit method in the video could you tell me how to do it?

This was so helpful! Who knew? I came here with 1/2 an avocado in hand and now I know what I need to do lol. Thanks!!
You are so welcome!
Great video. I like to leave the pit in and wrap with plastic but I'm really interested in the blanching method.
glad you like

It's at 1:05 in the video. :)
@@jerryjamesstone can you blanch r the cut avocado? Thx 🙏🏽

I was planning on making an avocado cake but I'm about worried that it'll taste bitter because I've read somewhere that a cooked avocado can become bitter.
The avocado is not cooked, that’s the important part, it’s just 10 seconds to kill that outer layer

cool
This is the most thorough video on storing cut avocados. What was the runner up method to blanching?
onion
with the onion does it leave a after taste that will affect it for smoothies.?
I would say no, but some people are super hyper sensitive to it so I would try it

How long do u leave it in the boiling water
10 sec
@@jerryjamesstone ok thanks
Boil the avocados for 10 seconds, but how long do they need to be in the ice water?
until cooled

Okay but what about freezing an avocado that was already cut? Can I Blanche half of it only ??
you blanch before cutting. you can freeze it
Blanching! Who would have thought? I'll do that from here on out.

Can someone please share the timestamp of the pit method, I couldn’t find it🙈

Thanks.

😂
What if you blanched it, cut it, put the pit back in AND stored it with an onion? lol
lol
what about vacuum method.
I didn’t test that because it’s not a readily available solution for a lot of people
i pour melted butter on it always seem to keep it fresh just slice it off when you want to eat it
oh wow
How long do I leave it to boil?
It says in the video 😜
that was fun
Thx!
Haha~you are so cute.
thanks!
"Blanche": Feminine proper name, as in "Blanche Davidian". "Blanch": to take the color out of. Thanks.
Ya. I was setting it up for the Golden girls joke
I like them fresh all the time..I just threw away 2 and half
☹️
Please do one on storing whole avacados..and please go slower
Slower??
