You can also slice, dip in lemon juice, freeze on a cookie sheet, then put in bags. We use to do this at a deli. We would take out some each morning to put on sandwiches. They would last several hours before they would start turning brown.
That Third way is AWESOME! It will as you pointed out help with storage issues, AND it should be able to be quickly thawed if you just run water over it! ThANK YOU!!!
@@TheBealles I have already, my grocery chain is having a avocado sale and I bought lots, plus extra sandwich bags, and I am able to store things flat for stacking.
I always fold the top of my baggie about 1/3 down on the outside so I don't get that goo all over the zipper. Also, if you don't have a food saver (I don't bc I don't have the space for another gadget and I don't want to waste the $$$ on it) just put a straw in the corner of the baggie, sip it up to the straw, suck the air out with the straw, pull the straw out while zipping the rest of the way. All you need is a straw
Like the idea with the cupcake foils, for great idea Amanda!! Notice you said about vac. pack, for that's what I do, for take a day of fruits, meats, fish etc. & even maranated some before freezing!! Thanks for the advise!!!
Thanks, Amanda! I like the muffin-tin one too! And you made me think of using the balls to make avocado salad dressing fresh each day while I'm on my diet! ❤
@@denniknight6049 Hi Denny. I make all my salad dressings since I discovered how easy it is, and how I can make them to my own taste. You just need a base of some kind, in this case avocados (mashed to creamy). Then you add to your own taste a splash of vinegar, olive oil, and simple syrup (boil one part water and one part sugar for 10 minutes). Simple syrup can be kept in the fridge for two weeks, or so. I also squeeze lemon, lime, orange, or grapefruit for freshness. Sometimes I'll add parmesan cheese. Good luck! I hope you enjoy your fresh dressing!
Ok just stick the whole avocado skin and all on the freezer! Easy peasy! You can out it in a bag if you want to help keep air out, but I have done it both ways. Stays green and consistency is a little more mushy than fresh, otherwise great. The thing is not to wait until they are getting over ripe. Buy a heap and when ready to eat but still firm freeze the surplus.
Does it stay green? Can you use the halved ones for chopping and use it as a topping or recommend blending for guacamole or in something else? How's the texture?
Frozen avocados are only good for smoothies in my opinion as the texture changes in the defrosting process and I believe that the lime juice also contributes the the texture change. A little browning can happen even if you put lime juice from my personal experiences as air seems to sneak in. But if you don’t mind the texture change then go for it. I buy fresh avocados weekly and still have not found a system that allows me to have a ripe avocado everyday without some getting wasted. Do you?
Hello Amanda I just searched to find out how to freeze Avocadoes and guess what you dear Amanda pop up. So I watched this video and today I am going to freeze all of my avocadoes. You added lemon/lime juice with your avocados, what was the reason for adding lemon/lime juice was it to prevent it from going brown, please let me know plus can you freeze fresh apples if so how? I think your next challenge should be "Can I Freeze it" I am so sure that many people would watch it due to the food pricing increasing so much. Buying food when in season plus extra to freeze or on special offer, basically having enough fresh vegetable/fruit but frozen. Take Care Love Ashwina
Thank you for these tips! I have some quarter cup containers that fit nicely into my ice bin...which I rarely use for ice, LOL. I usually get a bunch of mini avocados, let them ripen just enough on my countertop, and then pop them into the fridge. The problem is that I'll use half of one and save the other half in the fridge, but when I go to use it, it's all brown and unappealing. I'm thinking maybe I could cut the unused half into little chunks, put it into one of my mini containers, and toss that in the ice bin. I'm going to try it, anyway, because I've been using avocado in my smoothies for healthy fat, rather than peanut butter...which I suspect I might be allergic to :/ I particularly like your idea of mashing the avocado with a little acid and scooping that into muffin cups. I don't always have lemon juice or lime juice on-hand, but I usually have apple cider vinegar. The flat pack makes sense, too, if you know you're going to need that much smashed avocado. Anyway, I appreciate your taking the time and care to share these tips. Blessings! - Claire
The flat way is what I do with my soups, stews and chili. Saves a ton of room in the freezer. I found that two of my ladle full is the perfect individual portion so none is wasted.
I Don't Know. What do They look like after being thawed? I personally do not like any brown spots on My Avocado. What about Anyone else? Thanks for Sharing. Take Care and God Bless.
P.S. How was the salmon curry did you make it, was it nice, hope you managed to buy the correct ingredients. Let me know? By the way you can freeze the salmon curry into freezer bags and when ready to eat just simply remove from bag place it in a plastic container with lid not fully closed place in a microwave for about 6 to 8 mins depending upon how hot you fancy it. You do not need to defrost it first. Ashwina

Great video, thanks. I have extra avocados today, and will try this right now
Excellent info. Thank you. The mashed avo could be frozen in ice cube trays.
The flat storage method is the best idea. 👌
🌹 Great video! I love avocados! I will definitely try freezing them! I think enchiladas and burritos are so much better with guacamole 🥑
Just bought 10 organic avocadoes. It ripens in fridge. And today, I learnt that avocados can be frozen (without the skin) :)
Of course, one can just freeze the whole avocado!
Great idea, thanks for the tip. Thank you for taking the time to make the video ❤

How do you then thaw it ? I have some whole ones frozen do I just put them in the fridge to thaw?
@@KiaMuha you can or just on the.counter they dont take very long
I’m going to do the flat storage one thank you so much for this video! 👍😇❤️
Thanks! That's exactly what I needed to know.

I wouldn’t eat it straight. I blend it in other things.
Exactly! Give us more info for AFTER thawing.
Thank you for sharing your video. Tips are valuable & helpful.
I would’ve liked to see one after they were defrosted. Are they brown? Watery?
I was thinking the same thing

What a great challenge suggestion! You are exactly right about the lemon/lime juice. You can freeze apples. I have a video on that, too
I will try in the freezer bag Thanks for sharing ❤

Fold the top of the ziplock down when filling. Less mes and the seal stays clean.
Great video and tips.....thanks!
On the road so will watch later but just wanted to say you look great. I need a freezer.
You do :)
Great video. I always wondered how you froze avocado's. One of your best videos. Love getting your tips on freezing produce.

Does the avocado turn brown when frozen?
No
Does it make it soggy when defrosts to room temperature?
Do they brown in the freezer? I've never tried this, but want to now, thanks!!
They will brown if left long enough. The lemon and lime juice help
avacado muffins yummm 😁
Can you defrost and just eat? Thank you for sharing this I was going to look it up God Bless you and your family from middle GA 🙏
It doesn't taste the same to just eat, but it works well in smoothies and dips.

Cool. Thanks
Great video. How do you unfreeze them? Can I put them in the microwave? That's what I would instinctively do with frozen food.
Oven

Give it a try if you have one going bad anyway. See what you think
I don’t mind a few brown spots esp if it’s going to be blended or mashed.

Thank you😊
Do you only use it for guacamole?
You could use it in tacos or on toast
And cute
she is very cute
Instead of a sharp knife use a butter knife
How much do they last in the freezer
Google says 3 to 6 months, but I usually don’t keep mine longer than two months
You’re adorable
The only problem is the bag is plastic.
