I mean the game itself isn't a metroidvania, it has the same camera angle and movement/world mechanics, but the mechanics of metroidvanias that really define them aren't there
Before I thought it was just going to be Richter and Alucard plus some cameos like Shanoa that for me was already more than enough but you're telling there are 20 playable Castlevania characters? I'm really hyped to see who they are, this is truly a love letter to Castlevania.

Already pre-ordered the "complete edition" in the eShop a week ago, cannot wait to play it. I Regret to not get the game when the sea bundle was discounted... Now I was able to pick it with all the dlc, let's goo!
the genre grows on you the more you play it, I highly recommend. Its also a great game to pickup and play/put down literally as you please. You can spend like 2 minutes or 10 minutes on a level depending on your pace of play/build and the gameplay loop almost always feels fresh/satisfying with the unlocking of new weapons/zones and then the practically infinite combinations youll experience.
I still don't quite understand roguelike genre. I just feel like I'm stuck in a failure-inducing loop that never ends. It doesn't feel satisfying at all.

Although this looks nice and I want it, there's still nothing that tops the perfected, semi-realistic (and non-anime) Castlevania IV aesthetic for me. Team Treasure's awesome, dark, medieval and spooky style of that one instalment was somehow never continued, so I would be more than pleased to see an update of that someday.

I have only one question about the Switch version of Dead Cells as a whole... having just recently bought the Switch version, is there anything different visually about the Switch ver compared to other vers (ie missing or dumbed down effects)? Just wondering?

I wonder how tough it's going to be. I can get past the first boss of Dead Cells super consistently, but I've died immediately dozens of times starting the next area, that tbh I've totally given up. Unsure if I should bother buying this as a result.
It's not hard, bosses aren't that hard and they are simple. It's just punishable as Typical Roquelite since you need to start from beginning everytime you die. A lot of playing and watching a pro like DocFireBird, Vondoome etc to learn their skill. You'll get good finally.

Werewolves were far more terrifying than vampires. It is probably the idea of seeing the human within the beast and knowing you can't reach it. It might as well be a great white shark. There is no sitting down and discussing Proust with it, which the traditional vampire model seems to leave room for. You can have a conversation!!! Auuuww 👻👻👻

We did have Bloodstained Ritual of the Night, though, which was awesome.
It's a great DLC, and I'd much prefer this to whatever trash Konami would produce themselves at this point.
