Completely agree with you on the Smelting Pool storyline. That was quite disturbing for me too as a young kid. Strangely though, I couldn't stop thinking about it and it may have been responsible for me developing an interest in dark, apocalyptic fiction later on. Glad we're finally going to see Straxxus in toy form. As well as him, a comic accurate Rack and Ruin would be cool, and how about Scrounge, too? 👍
I would love a Scrounge! I think the Smelting Pool arc was probably the first time I'd seen characters I cared about in mortal peril. Most children's literature is obviously bloodless but with Transformers being robotic they could really push the envelope. I'm surprised they got away with it actually!
@@retroandreissue Yes, I don't think they'd be able to do it today. Not with something aimed at kids anyway. Straxxus was a very intimidating character, and helped make the situation on Cybertron seem even more hopeless for the Autobots. It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the new stuff once you've had chance to read it. Being aimed at an older audience, It doesn't have the same restrictions and is quite brutal in places.
@@stephengray8374 I like the idea of updating things for the older fans who want it but its yet to peek my interest really. I like focusing on a fixed period in time because there are already so many interpretations out there. I would never say never though! I'm definitely intrigued...
I never understood why marvel comics created characters that weren’t getting toys. The cartoon did this sparingly. Purple griffin, Orion pax, b.o.t. But why create advertisements for toys that won’t possibly ever exist?
For the betterment of the story and also the possibility of the toys getting figures 30 and 40 years from then on. A lot of thinking went into the original Transformers cartoon, which you appreciate extra considering how lazy Transformers storytelling has become nowadays. The only show that tried doing something new, something different, in years is Earthspark.
I have this and Flame/Xaaron on preorder. I have the Jhiaxus figure too. I've considered getting an Impactor figure but his resurgence came a few years before I started buying Transformers again so I think I've missed the boat on him
I've had Straxus on pre-order from the second he was up on Hasbro Pulse UK! I have one of my collection shelves solely dedicated to the figures from that Marvel Comics' 'Return to Cybertron' story, and Straxus will be replacing the Generations Darkmount figure that's currently placeholding for him. After picking up the Dirge reissue earlier this year, I'm now just waiting on reissues for Ramjet and Thrust to finally complete the scene as I have all the Insecticons and Dirge for the Decepticon side, and ALL the Autobots for their side. (Although I wouldn't say no to some remoulded and updated Seaspray and Powerglide figures!)
I just want a comic accurate blaster to go with now. The Titan Blaster had the head gimmick and mask but that’s the closest they’ve come and I don’t think these would scale correctly. Also Scrunge would be nice
I'm guessing you are also thrill with the recent reveal of Xaaron and Flame too? For me I'm familiar with him as a character but I will be picking him up at some point! I was broke during the 2010's and the Generation "Darkmount" was like £7 so I bought him. He is like one of the earliest TF I have in my collection after I stop getting them in my teen. Needless to say, the Generation Darkmount is one of my prized posession!
I completely agree with you. I definitely think the legs could have been retooled to be more rectangular, however, as much as Hasbro's overuse of retooling these days has all the hallmarks of a dying company, this was one instance where a Galvatron retool always made perfect sense.
The next character is either Scrounge and Xarron, and im leaning towards Scrounge. He will most likely be a retool of that Origins Bumblebee mold which is good, but he would be to big

Very good video man, genuinely dope work 👊👊
Thanks man - appreciate you stopping by!
It's not comic accurate if he's not a headmaster. 😂

I need to remember who Emirate Xaaron is. He's a very vague memory compared to Straxus who burned himself into my brain as an evil despot!
Would be cool to have a mangaled Marvel UK Straxus head in a glass tube.
Yes!

A hope they get that weird skinny/stringiness to his limbs correct!
Look what we have now
@@jimmyrobot3170 Only a matter of time before we get a Scrounge?!
@@retroandreissue Some day
We like the figure but couldn’t care less for the comics. If it’s accurate or not we don’t care but we will buy Straxus.
