I think I've listened to this song at least a thousand times since I discovered it about a year ago!! The first month after I discovered it, I would listen to it 10 times a day. Just one of the songs that has me addicted to the beautiful BeeGees!❤❤❤ Thank you for a great reaction once again! Be sure to listen to the truly live official video done in the studio with a live orchestra. This was a presentation for the UNICEF charity to give UNICEF the proceeds from this #1 hit! ❤ The BeeGees line up and sign a huge check. They have given over 10 million dollars through royalties from this song!❤ The crowd was a conference crowd - all about the charity! Not a concert crowd!😊
@youmaderoskoe You really can get a better “visual” of the song from the “official video” version. All this was in 1979. But the song went to #1! It was like the 4th of the 6 number ones they had in a row. But thank you so much for continuing down this Bee Gees rabbit hole!❤
The Bee Gees introduced this song in 1978 and announced at a United Nations press conference in New York City that they would donate all of the proceeds from this song to UNICEF. Too Much Heaven was intended to celebrate the International Year of the Child, which began on January 1, 1979. The single was released in autumn 1978. On January 9, 1979, the Bee Gees performed at the Music for UNICEF concert and sang Too Much Heaven In the first week of 1979, preceding the Music for UNICEF Concert, the single first topped the charts in both the United States and Canada. It's earned the charity around $11 million in royalties since then. The video is from this concert, but its a bad video, the official video is so much better!
This is such a stunning song....Their live performance with a full orchestra backing is easily the best version with no auto tune etc. I think most of the Aussie female population all fell in love with Barry...and his gorgeous vocals (and face lol) in that one. I see others have recommended the same lol. Thanks for another Bee Gee's reaction .... Have you done the one with Barry and Barbra Streisand singing duets ? I think one was Guilty.
Hey Roskoe. I always liked this song and the great falsetto's. I especially liked the Bee Gees songs from Saturday Night Fever such as Staying Alive, How Deep is your Love,More than a Woman and You should be Dancing. Also I hope you can react to the late Andy Gibb who died way too young.
This was lip-synched, and so was ABBA that night doing "Chiquitita." Maybe because both songs were so complex with multiple vocal tracks, and both bands were such perfectionists that they didn't want to present anything less than stellar. Other performances at that event were live, including Andy Gibb doing a great rendition of "I Go For You."

The Bee Gees definitely dominated the radio stations at that time, then abruptly music started to change.
