    I love this! I used to enjoy walking around this neighborhood when I rented on Fellows and I remember feeling like the neighborhood was special. I never knew the history! Thank you for this video!

    Wonderful! Thank you, Sam. There are so many amazing neighborhoods all over Syracuse with houses built between 1900 and the Great depression. Literally 1000s of houses were built without power tools, most with unique floor plans and amazing interior finishes; woodwork, fireplaces, lathe and plaster walls, balloon linen ceilings, knob and tube wiring...all done by hand! I grew up in the Swaneola district near Upper Onondaga Park. Many unique and beautiful houses all over the "Greater" Strathmore area. In the 1800s it was called the Onondaga Highlands and the houses were built on hilly lots that had to be graded by horse power and pick and shovel.
