An ideal day for artist, Jim Ridlon, is a day spent in his studio. It’s there that Ridlon steps into his own
world; one comprised of color, texture, light, and shadows…and, of course, paint.
Ridlon has embraced the medium for decades utilizing a variety of approaches that have included mixed media and pouring paint onto unique surfaces. His most recent approach is what he calls “Collage Painting,” a process in which he first creates distinctive sheets of painted papers, which become the palette for the larger collage paintings. He cuts these sheets into smaller pieces and collages them onto canvas. It is a process unique to this artist.
