Love this … good to show that with these apparently random abstract paintings they will only be “ happy accidents “ or thoughtfully and carefully constructed as you have done here .
Thankyou. I am finding your tutorial very satisfying. Your detailed explanations in particular together with your calming non-hurrying voice are a treat. Yeh art you produce is exactly what I would like to develop into my own style.
This is really one of the best abstract tutorials!!! You have made my day too! I have a TON of beautiful Schmincke and Daniel Smith tube paints. I CAN use them the way you use pigment powder and then drizzling acrylic fluid medium around and then spraying with water!! I have no idea if I can still get the granulation and pigment separating that isn’t found in acrylic paints. I can’t wait to try!!
This is so good. I love how you're creating paint on the canvas with your pigments and gloss medium. The painting also turned out spectacularly. Well done!!
This is going on for years! A travelling Italian student came to my door ten years ago and offered to sell me one. All gesso impasto and blotches with trickling blues. Nice stuff. I gave him £15 for it. 🎨
Sorry - I have to comment again. I am a beginner self-taught painter. I have been searching for how to express wanting texture AND loose atmospheric areas AND GEOMETRIC AREAS of control. This is the process I have been searching for!! Thank you!!
Thankyou for sharing. I like the way you explain, however I sometimes feel abstract art is impossible to understand. You say it’s intuitive but in that also one needs to think of where to place the strokes etc. do you take online classes?
Thanks for writing Shalini. Abstract painting is like poetry. You should have the stock of vocabulary and then only you can write intuitive poetry. But the words are secondary I feel. Same in abstract painting, there is very little 'mind' in it. Regarding the online classes, so far no but as I am getting many enquiries very soon will start. Thanks.
Art is to look at not to question ,as for abstract the artist plays with colors hoping something will come out of it ,which you can’t with fine art ,also it is easy with acrylics to do abstract .
Thank you for sharing your techniques and painting. It turned out great. I especially like the first layers of texture and the pigment power colours showing through. Very nice.
I just watched for the second time 😁. I wanted to thank you again for sharing this. I’ve been really wanting to experiment with powdered pigments, but haven’t had luck finding many artists that share the process when they use them. This has given me a lot of inspiration. Also, I love the “making/breaking” explanation. I’ll have to remind myself of that when I get stuck!
It is an Interesting artwork👌. I thought it reminded me of a Kandinsky mindset, the classical colors, and notable mark- makings of many painters. I loved it, and Thank You. ‼️TOOM@CapeTown
It’s amazing how all those random marks come together in such a beautiful painting. 😊
