Loved everything about this video ! It's so helpful to see other artists share their process and emotions throughout. Rita, I would love you as my Mentor ! Please make more videos like these !!
@@ritavicari1198 BOOO you dont like to actually do the work in "artwork" you just trace.. without the focal point of the woman this piece is just another nonsense abstract painting. Yes sketching drawing takes a long time duh! That is the art of it.
Oh it’s so BEAUTIFUL!! And TY for showing even the most highly trained, have times that they just want to burn it all down!! Then you square your shoulders and get back in the game!!! I Love it!!!!!!
Thank you so much for sharing your process and your struggles. You’re right, it does help other artists to see that even amazing painters like you have to work through issues and have doubts. You are super inspiring. I love this series, so good!

This is so generous, to share with such openness, transparency and even vulnerability. Truly impacting me in my growth artistically, and also personally (through the ensuing revelations). Thank you, Rita; thank you, Milan!💝
Now I know what my goal is - to find ( no, not the signature style , but this too....later) a money to register for this program.....I am sold. Thank you Rita, ( we've met at Dallas art fair) for your honesty and being down to Earth. Glad you " overcome" Gogol Syndrome and did not burn out your painting, that would be unfortunate. I am youtube junkie and watching or " eating" practically everything art related. This is one of my favorite video. It shows the process from /to, it shows struggle and resolution ( I actually liked her original dress too). Great job of ppl behind the camera.
Oh my gosh I was so comforted while watching this I was feeling yes thank you for showing the struggle then you said that that was exactly what you wanted the take away to have and YAY!!! You are awesome because that was exactly what I took from this thank you so much lol loved your statement that you wanted to burn it I have been there so many times. Thank again.
Absolutely beautiful 😍 So inspiring, I’m wanting to do the mastery program but am wondering if it’s way out of my league. I’d be more confident if it was face to face rather than on line with no one there to correct my work .
Very inspiring! Thank you! I was glad to hear acrylics were okay, haven’t bought oils yet (waiting for my Christmas present 😀 I love painting abstracts and still life (so far), I definitely want to try women. I have a large collection of BLANK canvases from Michaels (when they were on sale buy one get two free, I must get going. So many hobbies, not enough time! xo, Peggy
Definitely helped seeing the thoughts, work, and struggles that made your magical painting. I am entering the Mastery Program soon, so thanks again for the confidence boost!
Loving this series. This artist's process is the most like my own. Would love to see more ..love the personality! Thanks so much for sharing yoir process. It came out gorgeous.
Awesome work! I love to see the process. What projector do you guys recommend? What's she using? I just want one that works well for art! So many options online. Starting my Milan Art portfolio soon, please recommend one to me :)
Thank you so much for watching this!! I got my projector on Amazon. It was 100$, Vankyo brand. They have a ton of them and honestly they will all work just fine! I also have a big 600$ Epson projector and that one is amazing because it is super bright and I can use it during the day. Cheaper ones work only in the dark because they are just not bright enough :)
Hey there, so glad that you loved the video! There are tons of great options for projectors out there, but we'd recommend this one as a good starter option. amzn.to/3XGYHqP
@@ritavicari1198 There was no struggle making this. You skip the most important part. Making it your own "work" You just trace. Come on have more integrity draw the reference.
Wow! I absolutely love this painting. I really want to start mixed media, I just love the idea of using different textures etc. I've always loved paintings where you can see the brushstrokes so anything like that really draws me in. I love how you were able to fix what you were unhappy with, and it looks fantastic. Thank you for sharing your process, I am really inspired enough to have a go at doing something of my own! ❤
Where does the artwork used to project and copy onto the canvas originally come from? Is it a picture you made using smaller paportions or an inspiration piece?
Thank you for this, it’s beautiful! What app do you guys use to create your initial ideas on? I know you’ve said it another video but I can’t find it! 😔
hey I was glad to know she goes through the same emotional rollercoaster that i go through during the process of painting! thank you for sharing I was convinced in my mind that professional artists have it easier incase of emotions and decisions! but hey you were exactly like me! thank you i learned not to waste my time like hours and hours on one tiny corner of the painting if I'm not getting it right and cover it up and keep moving! and most importantly can someone answer me please!!!?? my question is that Do we not need to varnish the painting with an acrylic varnish or something because I always thought that acrylic paintings needed to be varnished with acrylic varnish and oil paintings needed to be varnished by oil varnish or something and I was amazed that you were able to use ink and also golden paper and other craft papers!!!!!!!!! i thought it wasn't allowed 😂😂😂as if there were any rules. This was all on my subconscious mind .. THANK YOU SO MUCH AND please answer me can i really use those papers?? will they not become bad with time or become different in color etc and the ink .. thank you so much for the white background and covering it up with white for texture Advice!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
Professional artists definitely aren't exempt from the emotional rollercoaster! We all have them in our work. If a painting is created with water-based or water soluble materials, an acrylic varnish would be most appropriate. However, many professional artists (like Rita in this video) finish the final layer in their paintings with oil. At that point, a varnish that protects oil would be best to use across the entire painting.
She says she starts every painting with white heavybody acrylic, but that's just heavybody paint. Does she maybe mean heavy molding/modeling paste instead of a regular modeling paste? I like the structures she creates so i would like to know what it is. 😊
I put adhesive, then the flakes and when the flakes glued in, I used the tape to clean the rest of gold leaf from the canvas so they don't fly around the studio and make no mess around! I know in the video it is not really clear what I sed the tape for😅
I absolutely loved this. You inspired me so much. Your personality through it all was such a delight. I would love a mentor like you for the Mastery program.
See a movie my husband and I produced "The Secret Life of Plants". I feel all of natures creatures have feelings. I am a painter also. I am working on a life long project, about flora, fauna. Like your painting.
That is an interesting observation, but definitely not true. We understand the lens that you are looking at things through and trust that we are not affiliated.

Nice job Rita.
Lovely! The portrait resembles the artist.
She is so hard on herself and yet that was the best result from a “mistake” that I have ever seen!
That's how the Milan Institute teaches their students to fix every mistake; Put a flower or a bird in front of it.
“What you can’t hide, make a feature.” Everything is redeemable!

Just a note, make sure your canvas is dead straight up and down otherwise your work will come out elongated like mine 😂
Thank you! It is so great to see and learn from other artists! What is the name of the app you use to fix and try out ideas for your painting?
Thanks so much for sharing the process with all its drama too, now I don't feel so alone! This piece is truly magical!
