High West Double Rye and American Prairie Bourbon Whiskey Review

Episode 588. Both of these classic bottles have returned in numbers to Alberta. Both on sale, so it was easy to bring them home. The Bourbon is a bit generic, but tasty and honestly, I like it! The Double Rye is a bit more contriversial for me. I like it, but it seems a shadow of their former release. #highwest #rye #whiskyneighbour

The High West bourbon has become one of my favorite daily sippers. I’m happy you confirmed that it’s pretty decent.

That very first release of the Double Rye was out of this world! I went through several bottles...sadly that'll never be again. I do enjoy the modern version though... great value.

Never having had HW, I can't contribute too much to the conversation. I recall seeing some very positive reviews about the Campfire version, which appealed to me quite a bit. I looked for it at the time but, if it's ever been on the shelves here, I've managed to miss it.
Gearing up for our trip to NS, leaving Wednesday. Two weeks in the Maritimes will be a balm for the soul! 😊

I have not picked up a lot of the newer HW releases as I hoarded some of the older bottles. Still have a Double Rye from pre 2017 as well as some extremely hard to come by Rendezvous Rye Barrel Selects, Hungarian cask finish 108.4 proof that we found in Niagara NY on sale for 50 US in 2017. They are some of the finest Rye's I have ever tried. I knew someone in the Edmonton area that had bottles of the HW (Barton) 21 year Rye from many moons ago but a sample never came to me.

Campfire. I’ve gone back and forth about buying it for many years, but either changed my mind at the last minute or didn’t find it at a reasonable price. Only bottle from high west I’ve seriously considered buying.
