    Thank you for your review of the process. We are acquiring a Permobil M3 for my wife. It's been five weeks since the dr wrote the Rx. We were fortunate that the DME rep was in the hospital on the day we met with the dr, so made immediate contact. We've had the fitting and evaluation; the in-home evaluation was completed today. The letter of medical necessity is now in the DME's hands and should shortly go to the dr, then to Medicare, so things are moving along fairly well. We can't wait to get the chair -- my wife loved the freedom of movement it gave her as she buzzed around the parking lot (in a M1)!

    Hi brother, I love your videos. You articulate yourself very well. I do have a mechanical background. I was a Plumber and HVAC tech, and licensed mechanic; I can tell you really know what you're doing on these chairs and could even be a good asset for one of these companies; you clearly know what works and what don't. I'm a quad C4 injury Motocross injury. I just received a new chair; it's my 2nd since my accident in 2014. I went from a C300 to a F3, and 1st off, the F3 will not go straight at slower speeds. The tech and I have about 3 hours into adjusting the parameters, but no matter what, there's no center; it's either left or right; then problem #2 arised the F3 is too heavy for my lift and I cannot get it in my van, and I found out the hard way never thinking there could be more than a 100LB weight difference. I have a one-side arm lift 600LB max weight limit, and with the C300 and me I'm just under that 600LB limit; when I tried the F3, the one side with no arm hung down so far that my caregiver had to lift that side up to get over the step of the van luckily I didn't get hurt, and the lift didn't break, but now I hope the company that supplied the chair will get me a different one but the tech is out with Covid. Did you have problems with your F3's handling like mine? I literally can't go through a door without hitting both sides of the door frame; it handles great at high speed; it's in the house speeds that no matter what, it's like I'm overcompensating when I'm not, and we couldn't get that out with any adjustments maybe you have a suggestion to do? Keep up the great work nice to see you're still living your life; I got into video editing and compositing, creating things in 3D; my last effect was me dissolving into particles and being blown away anyway. If you took the time to read all this, thank you.

    • @TotallyNormal-
      @TotallyNormal-  Год назад

      hey! yea the C300 was a fairly 'light' chair compared to most.. but permobil and quantum chairs are HEAVY now! at an average of 400lbs.. as for not driving straight, has a permobil rep gotten involved? if the chair is new and having these issues, it should be straightforward to get resolved - and/or just replacing all the controls etc - or even replacing the entire chair!
      this contact form will direct your message to the nearest local rep...

    I'm lucky in that I am very comfortable tweaking things on my powered chair (Magic Mobility Frontier V6 - that I love). I do let the VA get the battery swaps done. I don't have anywhere near the strength that I used to have, to get something like that done on my own. I also can walk a little bit, and stand for brief bits of time. So this is super helpful. But I have to use that ability very sparingly or I will crash, energetically. I'm like a Tesla trying to run on 4 AA batteries. My range truly sucks! I used to have a garage full of bicycles and I was a very capable bike mechanic. Now I have 3 wheelchairs, from a great lightweight manual wheelchair (this I use inside our home) to a sometimes handy lightweight scooter that breaks down into 4 pieces and fits into most vehicles easily enough, to the mighty Frontier V6 AT, which is my preferred daily driver when outside the house.
    You inspire me to continue to try to find ways to "get things done" as a disabled person. And know that I too can get all muddled up in the head, thanks to what put me into a wheelchair. So I totally understand and laugh with you!

Currently I have the Permobil M5 corpus on test loan for 4 weeks (during my holiday) and I dread the moment I have to hand this one back and having to return to my You-Q Samm (Sunrise Medical). Great Vlog Totally Normal, I live in the Uk and the system to get a chair is vastly different here, I am 64 and just ( or should I say over the last few months ) bought my own chair (Sunrise Medical Quickie Puma 40 Pro Sline Gyro) The chair arrived with 1 mile on the Clock and Pristine Brand New Condition from the dealer Who allowed me to buy my chair outright and Its fully Road Legal here in the United Kingdom and a Month after the chair arrived I was supplied by Motability with a VW Caddy Maxi life 2.0ltr WAV which not new when it arrived though its in Showroom condition with just 7,000 much-loved miles on its Clock.
    My Chair is mainly for outings as I live in a First-floor apartment and still have some limited use of my legs but my back is my weakness but I am like you, I know My new Puma better than the dealers
    It was opened up by the dealer here as much as they are allowed and it is perfect for my way of life, I must say what a stock of chairs you seem to have in your garage/Showroom seems like you like to keep what you have used.
    It's taken me some time to acquire just the one chair but it is here and I am looking forward to many sunny days in the years to come god willing. I am looking forward to seeing your next vlog Sir

    SWEET! Time for mods! Got to adjust/trick/tweak. It looks like finally a useable cupholder. yeah! I use that same babystroller cupholder on my chairs. i also modify fannypacks and mount them under my armrests. car keys, cellphones, tablets, light remotes, kitchen sink, etc. last project was mounting a motorcycle dual usb port on my armrest. i know what you mean about adjusting things on your chair. when you have to live in one you really spend a bit of time trying to make it right 'for you'. it can become more then bothersome when things aren't right. from pressure sores to getting stuck somewhere because of bad chair programming. your chair becomes more then something to just transport you from point a to b. ok, enough complaining... lol... you going to put some grip tape on those footrests? i would either go with a punisher skull or batman logo. that all black look on your new chair is awesome. going to put 20' of that black p.e.t. cable loom in that box for you. oh..had to change to a bigger box because i keep adding more. lol! .. got to go start the coffee.. take care.. Very informative thanks so much for sharing. What is different about the suspension? Due to one of my conditions I cannot take any amount of bumping and jolting in a chair so I compensate by going very slowly over everything, it's a pain but so is bumping and jolting..........

    • @TotallyNormal-
      @TotallyNormal-  4 года назад

      its hard to explain.. but im the same way with bumps and jolts.. this chair's suspension is unlike anything else ive tried.. my old amy systems chair used to be top of the line for ride quality.. and this 4 front puts it to shame! (i sound like a corporate shill lol) the suspension was taken from off road power sports (like fox racing) and adapted for use on the chair. i really hope it holds up well! the 1.3 miles ive taken it so far have been amazing! went out with some friends last night, and its the first time in a while that i came back, and wasn't in pain from bouncing all around!

    Congratulations on getting your new chair. I have been going through the process of getting a new chair too, and am scheduled to get mine delivered tomorrow morning. I am getting a Permobil M5 after having a M300 for 5+ years. My rotator cuffs are shot, so having the 14" seat lift vs the 8" lift of the M300 should make life much better. My process did not take as long as yours, two months, and it went remarkably smooth. Having said that, we shall see when it gets delivered. Because the M5 will have the exact same Corpus 3G seating as my M300, I will do all the final adjustments myself, based on my M300. In one of your earlier vlogs, you fixed some seat back squeaks on the 3G seat back by placing the loop side of velcro tape where the seat back panels rub. I am going to compare where the M300 seat back panels have rubbed against each other and proactively prevent it on the new M5. Rather than using velcro tape, I will use nylon or teflon tape used for drawer glides. I will cut one inch strips, and round the corners with fingernail clippers. I will break it in for a month before bringing out the programmer. One thing I will do right away is silence the start-up and button push sounds, and I will turn off those bright green button LEDs on the ICS unit. They are so bright they blind me at night. The only issue I had during the process was the demo chair battery went dead after a little over a mile, and I had to be towed back home by my M300...apparently the DME forgot to charge the batteries.

    Those motors look like the same 2-pole 6mph motors that were stock on my used Q6E2 iLevel
    You definitely have the newer-better suspension. I love the Q6E2 compared the Q6E1. The one thing that seems to be proving to be a problem on the Q6E2 are the black tires. After 6 months, my floors have black rubber smudge marks ALL OVER the house. What a mess they make every day. Do you know of a solution or an alternate explanation for the black marks on the floor?
    I loved, loved, loved this video !!! I've been waiting for 5 months to see it and holding off getting my new chair until you did your review. Thanks.

That put a fire under there but and sure enough, in 30 days I had an approval and a chair. CorpusM3 I like it but what do I know. I have been in for a year, but I haven't had much experience. There are several minor programming adjustments I would make if I was able. For sure there is not much available in the arena of the luxury options. All I wanted was a was phone holder, drink holder and a way to keep my my right hand on the armrest (hemiparesis from stroke). Most wheelchair accessories still designed for steel tube construction not aluminum groves channel. 3-D printed a design I came up with to satisfy the hand Problem that started me down the road to meet my other needs. front wheel drive lets ya maneuver into tighter spaces a bit more easily. there's a bit of a learning curve to it, and sometimes ya can get stuck in the corner of an elevator lol BUT it also helps with transferring in and out of the chair since there's no extra wheels in the front to get in the way. I personally prefer front wheel drive for daily use.. it takes a bit more skill to get used to - and sometimes its a bit technical to maneuver.. but overall i prefer it hands down to anything else!

They insisted on me getting a mid wheel drive chair and I just don't like them as much. The front wheels get in my way a lot! It does have some advantages but I would personally push harder for a front wheel drive chair if I could do my process over again.

      No they are not. I had awful issues with mine when it got wet. Make sure you have some sort of cover on it
