I wore my hair in twist for 5 months ( retwisting every 3 weeks ) and my hair grew so much I’ll be doing it again this winter..
    also
TIP: DIY some flax seed gel ( with just water & seeds). it’s not actually gel but it seals/protect your ends and makes them curl on the end …

Love that for you! Grow them inches girl. I agree, low maintenance and low manipulation styles definitely help retain length.

Hi darlings! I hope you all are well and enjoy this video. It has been so nice not having to worry about doing my hair for the last couple weeks. Let me know how you feel about twisting your own hair in mini or medium twists as a protective style!🤎

Im currently in twists. I love them. But i keep my hair in twists most of the time. They're very convenient and versatile. I usually keep them in for 3 weeks, then rock a bomb twist out. You did a really good job, very cute.😊

I love that! I’m looking forward to taking these twists out and putting them right back in 😅

Funny how this popped up when i was feeling extremely discouraged about breakage in sections of my hair when the rest is almost waist length. I was considering chopping it all off but to everyone else my hair looks healthy.

I am so excited to get to this length! I big chopped a long bob at shoulder length last year and now im at bra strap length. I have fun with my hair in between protective styles but protective styling is key in my opinion.

Congrats on your big chop! That is so brave. You are so right, protective styling is key. Just stay away from too many lace fronts (speaking from experience 🫣)

    Awww pretty-Penny; Hiii sweet-Girl!❤❤❤❤
Cute twists! That’s all I do with my hair. More length retention that EH-Ver!!!
Edit: I had to learn that too. Keeping my hair “stretched” definitely allows thorough detangling.
I was doing everything, yet my hair didn’t seem to be progressing. It wasn’t until I started air-blowing it straight, then twisting it up.
Healthier than it’s ever been. Longer and thicker than ever.
Lovin where I am in my healthy hair lifestyle!❤

I love that! I used to feel bad about stretching my hair. But I realize that stretching it had helped prevent single strand knots which help prevent breakage 🙌🏾

Hi Patrice! How do you feel about not using protective styles to grow out your hair, do you think it’s possible if you moisturize and seal your ends daily?

    • @PatriceMarjorie
      @PatriceMarjorie  Год назад +3

Hi! It is definitely possible to grow out your hair without protective styles, especially if you prioritize moisture and protecting your ends. Our hair is constantly growing, protective style or not. Growing hair is not generally the issue, retaining the length is. The best way to retain your length is to minimize breakage and the best way to minimize breakage is protective styling. I would suggest protective styling at least a few months out of the year as the most efficient way to retain your length and see the results of your hair growth 🤎

TRY FLAX SEED GEL ON YOUR ENDS!!! Its makes all the difference for natural twist/braids and it’s very protective.
Yes this is her real hair 😮

by 1, I mean african american women. I don't count the african women such as women from Senegal, Mali, Cameroon, or Nigeria , just african american women, since only about 35 percent of african american women like their hair, or should I say, our hair type.

Hi love, I understand what you mean, and it is really an unfortunate reality for us that those statistics are likely spot on. Self hatred runs rapid in our community from hair to skin tone, etc. Fortunately there are creators across several platforms working to help others unlearn the self hatred imposed on us. I'm happy to be one of them and so grateful that you found me here and for your support! Xx
