The hid kit is a couple hundred dollars. You are comparing it to a $40 led kit. Compare it the the supernova V.4 led kit. It's $169. I feel that would be a more fair comparison.
@@bbltd.3154 Damn hid use to be Really expensive they've gotten cheap over the years. I have the Hikari In my low beam on my 2020 Honda Civic hatchback It has projector low beam headlights. They're pretty damn bright. Every so often I have people high beaming me. I bought the Hikari off of Amazon a couple months ago for $34 a set. They must have recently went up. I've also had some projector headlight on some cars and Led did not work very well. So I think it depends on the particular projector you have.
Comparison is somewhat flawed because as already noted the LEDs are overheating which reduces their performance and of course there are better LED kits, some even cheaper, example, those with LEDs on four sides, those with different focus and etc.
Thanks so much for this video. As someone who had LEDs in my previous car with reflector housings, I wanted the 6000k colour on my new car that came factory stock with HIDs in a projector housing. It sucks that they don't sell 6000k HIDs for factory projector assemblies so I started looking at putting LEDs in. Thanks for saving me the time and effort of changing them out and changing them back! Very helpful and much appreciated.
Note To All: This is a great lighting change. I did the Innovited HID 6000k and couldn't be happier but.....BEWARE of some car washes especially touchless. They use a lot of high pressure water and at weird angles that you wouldn't get with normal driving. My install was the exact same as Boosted's but the grommet failed to keep the headlight sealed and I got moisture inside both housings. Luckily nothing blew but I have to take them off now and dry them out. You may need to silicon around that grommet if you hit the wash often.
Thanks for the feedback and great tip! Silicone is a good idea too! With all the bulb swapping and testing I've been doing I didn't do this but it is definitely a good idea!
Hey John, used your link for the Innovited from Amazon but got confused at the page with the amount of options. I have a 2014 Laramie with all options but want to do the light upgrade. What is the specifis model # do I need to get?
Man I am so glad that I found this channel, I have 2014 Ram and have pretty much the same setup you have, talk about some modifications in the future for my truck, especially the HID bulbs!!!! Keep up with the tips, tricks and mods!!!!
l was about to go out and install some LEDs this morning, hoping the written reviews were exaggerating how unfocused LEDs were in the projector housings. THis video convinced me to just return the LEDs and buy the HIDs before even trying out the LEDs. Thanks for the video
I've seen situations where LED's perform just as great as HID's. Every vehicle headlight housing is different. The headlight housings also make a difference in beam patterns as well as the amount of light output the unit allows. Projector lighting units burn out over time, limiting the amount of the light output. So in some cases it won't matter how bright the HID or LED bulbs are.
If you drive at night for long periods LEDs dim down substantially to prevent heat damage to the LED chip. HID will nit dim like this and have a longer throw distance in general
I had the same HID kit in my 99 Grand Cherokee when I installed projectors on it and loved how wide the beam pattern was and how far the light was projected. Fast forward a few years and I got a 17 Civic with Hikari LED and I thought it was the projectors that were the issue. I'm getting the same fuzzy and unfocused light pattern with dead zones and no throw you had. And same as you, my LED fog lights are doing all the work. After seeing the light pattern on the clipboard it all made sense and I was sold on going back to HID. The outside comparison of the two was insane.
I’ve got a 17 ram 1500 sport with the projectors. I ordered the same kit just in the 9005 instead of the 9012 like he did. The install was fairly easy and I did pretty much everything the same. My bulbs would not stay on though. Come to find out, the bcm (I think) doesn’t push out enough amperage for even 1 of these bulbs. 1 HID in the passenger side and 1 standard halogen bulb in drivers side. So I ended up ordering a relay from inovitied as well. That fixed the problem and both bulbs work. I still had the bulb out messages on the dash. So I ended up ordering one of the canbus decoders like he mentioned in the video, just not the same one. Couldn’t find them. That fixed the bulb out messages. I believe in another one of his videos he goes through the bcm to enable HID bulbs. I wonder if it pushes more amperage out for them but I’m not 100% certain. I didn’t want to spend more money on alfaobd right now.
First of all great video, method and explanation. Just so people know, in March of 2018 LEDs were generally not very good for projectors. In the video you can clearly see the LED bulb was "clocked" crooked and showed the dead areas made by the wider chip housing. For what it's worth, SOME manufacturers have noted these issues, and have started setting chips in the thinnest housings, as close to where the bulb filament was, and also made it so you can adjust the "blade" after they are in your projector units. And if it wasn't for videos like this, those changes would have taken a very long time, so thanks again.
Thanks Jay! True probably could be clocked a bit better. One of the nice things with HID is it works similar to the original halogen it replaced without clocking 😎
Do you still recommend this set up today? I have a 2017 RAM with the factory projector housing. Also, is the new HIKARI LED Headlight Bulbs Conversion Kit-9006(HB4),2019 New Gen of HIKARI, Adjustable Beam, 9600lm 6K Cool White,2 Yr Warranty from Amazon comparable to the $70 Hikari LED fog lights you have?
Does the INNOVITED 55w HID KIT for the low beams still the best for the money? and will it mess up the factory projector housing in the long run? Thanks again for the help.
Yeah I would go with the innovited 55w. Its the best bang for buck super bright and reliable. No issues with the factory housings and worked solid the whole time before I sold the truck 👍
@@BoostedMotorsports I installed the Innovited 55w to my 2017 RAM 1500 but I get the warning "low beam out" and no light output. The bulbs are ok when I turn the engine off and on but it will give the warning again and no light output. Did you have this problem?
I've got a 2015 tundra with spyder headlights projector. Can not see a thing at night. The head light uses one bulb for high beam and low beam ? So would the high beam work with thus kit ?
i have a 2013 ram 1500 sport with the projectors . i do not have the plug on the back of the headlight . mine just has a plug that you plug into the back of a bulb .
If I'm installing HIDs in my ram 1500 projectors but I'm using Alfa OBD to change settings to hid present do I still need to use the can bus and the ballast? Thanks
Similar experience with my '06 Beetle - LEDs in the projectors were terribly dim compared to the halogen bulbs. Conclusion: LED bulbs do not work well in projectors as retrofits.
I honestly thought LEDs would be better as its new technology... I was wrong. Both my bmw E30 and ford fiesta van have HiD bulbs with projectors. hands down destroy the LEDs
Glad to see your tinkering paid off. Sometimes mods don't turn out the way you hoped. Its nice to see the HID improvement. The passenger side headlight should have a longer throw than the driver side. The idea is to provide plenty of light down the road without glare into oncoming traffic. It would be interesting to see the LED on the right and HID on the left. Good comparison.
Thanks for the review of hid in projector lights I have a 2020 soul and the projectors suck. I too was worried about LEDs not giving a good pattern and a projector. But on a side note my daughter's 2022 Corolla with factory design LEDs are excellent lights
BoostedMotorsports Quick question. So I installed my HID but it seems like randomly while I’m parked or driving the light turn off or on. What do you think is the problem there? They don’t seem to turn on or off when you’re driving over bumby roads so they are well connected. I do have the canbus decoder on it
BoostedMotorsports so yeah it seems like after a while they shut off and on then after the third time it completely shuts off and doesn’t turn back on until the truck is restarted. Would it be the canbus decoder?
@@CimarronCarlos that's why i ditched my hid headlights i bought nice morimoto hids for my truck and once it get a little cold out one likes to just shut off randomly annoying and kinda embarrassing having a light always shut off on me
Boosted. I have a 2015 ram that doesn’t have the hid headlights I was wondering if you know if there is a set of lights or ( bulbs ) that I can purchase to brighten up my head lights. Plug and go only. I’d like to replace all 6 so they look the same color! Thanks for your answer in advance
I had HIDs in the past. About 6-10 months after I put them in, the main computer component on the truck blew and I had to replace, 2k later. They dealer was the only one who could fix it and they attributed to blowing of the computer to the HIDS I had installed. Have you every heard anything like this before? Had this problem?
Just put the same set up in my 2015 ram, and the lights work only when the accessories are on but not when the engine is running. Any idea what i can do?
I clicked the link to order the 55w 9006(hb4) but the plug and light was wrong, Amazon reccomend the 9005(hb3) for 2015 Ram, is that what i should order?
Thanks for sharing this, I just ordered the same kit yesterday after being surprised (like many others) how poor the performance was from an LED in a halogen projector housing.
Hey bro I installed this same set up on my 2015 ram 1500 and with the truck off the lights on with no problems but with the truck on the lights wont turn on or when the do turn on they flicker or they shut off after being on for a little bit. Any ideas on what the issue could be and what I could do to resolve it?
Is this with your headlight switch in auto mode? I know some of us have had to manually operate the headlight switch for everything to work properly and auto mode acts a bit funny for some reason.
I’m curious if the newer HIKARI Ultra led bulbs work better with the redesign of the ends. There isn’t that round piece at the end of the led bulb anymore and now create a pretty sharp line on the wall as compared to these older ones. Plus the HIKARI uses the new Phillips Lumiled diodes versus those ones that were used prior.
There is enough power to run the HID kit but the biggest issue is trying to keep the CANBUS system happy and not throw a code. A bunch of us have been running the CANBUS decoders which are a good solution but the Hikari ones we've been using don't last very long. I'll update everyone soon with a better setup for the decoder.
Great video and explained very nicely. Just wanted to clarify if the light output will be safe for oncoming traffic in terms of glare , if any, caused by having an HID in a Halogen Projector. Looking for a light upgrade myself and this video was an eye opener.
Glare was not changed and I never had anyone flash their lights at me from oncoming traffic. The cutoff remains the same level just becomes brighter than the halogen bulb that was there before! You won’t be disappointed. Links in the description for thus setup 👍
For some odd reason I cant get my 9006 or 9012 bulbs to fit in the oem projector headlights on my 2016 Ram. Honestly it looks like I might just have to trim them
The Innovited HIT 55w, you use the diamond white? You have a video on the modification you said you did to turn the bulb around? Thanks for the info. Think I’m going with this set up. H11, H9, H8 kit on amazon?
I dont think unpinning the connector is very difficult.. just sayin.. question do you ever use your auto high beam function? Reason I ask is I'm wondering how that works with HID . I have 2 single beams I my commander and I was gonna do led in the high beams and just keep the hid in the lows. Would you do that or can his do well when they are flashing on and off .. u know they flash off when theres on coming traffic.. thank u for the video
I would do HID for lows if its projector and LED for highs. That way you still can flash the highs and they are instantly bright when you switch them on 👍
What's up John? Thanks for all u do. Have learned a lot from this channel. I as well have a 2018 ram and clicked on the link u have for the hid bulb replacement and when i do amazon tells me it doesn't fit the ram application. maybe it's me but would u double check the link u show us? Thanks from Texas
Hey boosted I ran those innovated hid in my 2015 ram sport with projector headlights and at first they worked perfect drove the truck and then parked it and later on in the day I started it back up and they just flickered once or twice and would not power on I have them ran with the decoder as well would you have any suggestions on what I should do or what the issue could be
Compared to your LED fogs, your HID’s headlights appear to have a blue tint. Is this the case? I am unsure about purchasing the 5000k vs the 6000k, I just don’t want a blue tint.
Hey Patrick you'll see three different sized pegs on the bulb and you just need to trim the two larger ones so that you can insert the bulb at a different position. Let me know if you have any other questions
Thank you so much for this video. The Amazon link for the INNOVITED 55w HID KIT for the low beams doesn't work anymore. Can you post an Amazon link to the correct 55w HID Kit because there are so many to choose from. Will the Innovited 55W AC HID bundle with (1 Pair) Slim Ballast and (1 Pair) Xenon bulb 9005 5000K (Pure White) work? In your video you mention using 9012 6000K.
May I ask another question about the decoders do you need them for each bulb replaced? I ordered Led's for the fog lights but I did not order any canbus or error canceller
The fog lights don't seem to need them depending on which bulbs you go with. On the fogs you won't get an error on the dash but might get flickering without them, really depends on the bulb 👍
the light out put is a 100 times better then the led set up you had before .that's the best setup for the projections and the fogs with leds . I did the same thing to my ram and I commute to and from work on dark country roads when I'm coming home man you can see everything . thanks for making all the videos for the ram 1500 can't wait to see what you do next..
I just bought an Innovited 35 watt 4300k can-bus kit for a Mercedes c300, hopefully this will fix the poor lighting issue with stock halogen projectors.
Innovited does has a Canbus HID system That I am currently running on my 13’ ram , works awesome. My 9006 bulb fits perfectly in the projector housing with no modifications as well .
No flickering with the canbus system. I had ordered the $40 with out the canbus ballast and blew through one bulb , but after they sent me a canbus HID ballast everything worked fine
mariodlm There is the link to exactly what you will need , just make sure to choose the correct bulb size for your spyder headlight housing. Follow the instructions from this video and you should be fine
I have a quad headlight can you suggest some led low beam and fog lights also. Can you post a link if you know of any thanks. Can you also include everything I will need to make changes to led.
Check out JDMaster.com they have very good quality LEDs and stand behind their products. Ask for Jose and tell him BoostedMotorsports sent you and he will make sure you have absolutely everything you need to get your truck dialed in. 👍😎
Hey boosted I bought the same kit and they stay on then turn off when I turn the truck on so you happen to know why? I contacted innovited and haven’t heard back that’s why I figured I’d reach out to you
Are you trying to use the Auto function? Do you have decoders? A bunch of us are just using the headlight switch manually which works fine but the auto function seems to act up a bit.
BoostedMotorsports ya I actually contacted them on amazon and they have a set for canbus HID’s for 9012 and I ordered those and the auto function works fine without issues!
I just installed the HID bulbs on my 2017 ram 1500. the lighting looks completely insanely bright! The brand I'm using is called GENSSI X-TREAM SERIES. love em, and I only got for $45. Absolutely better than standard LED.
I know this is late but the dot you're seeing from the led w two opposing lights patterns is cause by the tip extending further then the led chip itself. The light has to shine around that thus creating a bend, especially if the chips aren't horizontal evenly. This is why some come with adjustable fittings so if it doesn't line up right you can make it.
It’s funny that I thought of the same thing about factory projectors not projecting the LED as efficient and as it should ‘coz for some reason the light projected by my projector is at least half of what my stock halogen projected.
Nothing too special just some wood screws that bite into the plastic fender liner material. You could drill a hole and put a bolt and nut but these have been holding up perfectly.
Excellent video....Professionally done. I like how you actually forecast what you are going to do before you do it. You also explain what and why very articulately. So many other DIY videos don't do that or the video is jumpy.....Good work brother! Keep it up!
Thanks Brent I appreciate it! Doing my best to bring quality and valuable videos but always learning and getting better. Be sure to check out the other videos on the channel when you get a chance too. Plenty more content on the way! 👍
I know you live in California and it does not get cold there like it does here in the North East. I have use an OPT7 kit in the past and when the temps drop the ballast do not work, I got a replacement kit and experienced the same issue so I just went back to halogens for reliability. I saw a review on Amazon for this kit that some one else was experiencing the same issue and was sent a new kit. Has anyone else experienced this issue in the colder climates and linked it to a cause? I am thinking it has something to do with the CAN bus adapter possibly, but I could be wrong.
With the headlight and fog light set ups you used. Can you tell the difference in lighting "color" when they are both on at the same time? Or do they have the same tint to them? Low beams and fog lights.
Hey Landon all bulbs usually are different color even from one brand to the next. Right now I'm currently rocking 5000k Innovited 55w HID in the lows and the Hikari LED bulbs in the fogs and its a pretty nice white color for both!
Yeah I messed around with clocking the bulbs in different ways but there is always a dead spot. Its apparently starting to be a known thing on these trucks that LED kits aren't as good a HID in these projectors but I honestly didn't think it would be this big of a difference.
I watched a few videos where people put 55w hid in projector headlights and the heat from the hid melted the headlight lenses. Have you had any problems like that?
Hey Ryan no issues so far and been running this setup for almost a year in extreme heat and even during the daytime for visibility. I'll keep everyone posted if things change
I didn't run in to the issue with led's you demonstrated. Maybe the brand or too short a led off the ballast. You need a longer thinner led, not the short ones.
So I bought this kit with there canbus/ anti flicker adapters like you have but there brand , and they work great until the Hemi is purring , the driver side stays on but passengers side flickers off , they are saying at the company that I need a the more expensive kit with canbus kit built into the wires , sounds like a bad ballast to me?! What you think?! Btw my truck is a 2015 sport
Did you try manually switching the lights on? Some of us have had issues with the auto headlight function. I did have one Hikari adapter go out and replacing that brought things back to normal. I might have to look for a better solution for the canbus adapter for us soon!
I have a 2013 Dodge Ram Tradesman (without the projector headlights (4 Bulbs) I purchased a traditional HID conversion kit from HID nation.com I couldn't get them to kick on, so I sent them back. I am trying to get 6000K for high & low beams and 3000K for the fogs. What would you recommend? Thanks for any tips and input!
Just did the full set up for my 2014 ram sport innovated HID kit and c6s leds fog lights. Looked good. Having to send back c6s kit faulty bulb and one of my head lights goes out then comes back on at random. Any advice?
No I don’t use the auto function. It’s strange worked on it over the weekend. Passenger side would work and then go out giving notification that bulb is out. Drove to work this morning passenger light would not work. Drove home and light came on half way home. I thinking a ballast issue. I’m going to switch the ballists tomorrow and see if it happens on the driver side. I’ll keep you posted. Also thanks for the help with pin position with bulb. Fit perfectly.
35w canbus integrated ballist kit was a bust. Faulty ballist. Liked the idea. Going with 55w kit but the link from your page to amazon is not working. Found 55w ac hid xenon conversion kit w/ slim digital ballast. Is that the kit you used?
Hi ! , I have a question I have a 2015 Honda Accord EX-L with factory halogen projector , I put a H11 C6 LED for the low beam , and doesn’t bright far has halogen , is any LED kit that can be good in the proyector , because I bought so many LED bulbs and I’m tired that any one work well and I waste my money and I end using the halogen ☹️
Diode Dynamics SL1 LED headlight bulbs or the Morimoto 2Stroke 2.0 LED bulbs perform good in low beam projectors. They are pricey, but I have seen several comparisons and these two I mentioned seemed to perform well.
Hey man, I’m new to your channel and you have awesome videos. Amazon tells me that this kit (9012 bulbs) don’t fit my truck. Should I ignore that? Your headlight are just like mine
Hey Bruno double check here cause they switched the bulb types around for different years for some reason even though the headlights all look identical www.philipsautolighting.com/ajax_select.php
It’s been almost a year since you put HID BULBS in the truck. I want to convert to HID cause the Led bulbs are not bright enough in the projectors. How are the H IDs holding up?
Hey I just installed the same set up on my 2015 Ram 1500 and it works at first and then the lights shut off after about 25mins running. What do you suggest?
The auto function acts a bit funny with these decoders. If you turn your headlights on manually it should work fine. A few of us have experienced this.
This video was awesome and easy to follow to install the HID kit. Only problem I’ve run into is that my HIDs take turns working now and sometimes go out completely, I have the 55w 5k and the hakari decoders you recommenced.. I’m thinking next is to install relays for both lights... did you run into this problem? If so how did you remedy it? P.S. I’m running these on a 2016 ram. Thanks for your advice in advance!
Thanks! A bunch of us are finding the auto headlight function doesn't agree with this setup but if you turn the headlights on/off manually it seems to work fine. I haven't explored a solution yet and just got used to turning them on/off manually but its odd there is no bulb out errors. If you find a solution definitely post it up! I tried a different brand of decoders but didn't work out.
Dude, I ran into the same situation with my 2017 Ram 1500. I ended up getting the relay harness to help with the power issue, however, I am getting the "lowbeam out" error code. I tried to reach out to the innovative staff but they want me to get the 35 watt kit instead which makes no since. I am hoping BoostedMotorsports will help with this problem
What is the CANBUS harness that you left in there? I did this install last night with the Innovited kit. It worked and looked great while the truck was not running, but as soon as I start the truck they flicker like crazy and shut off. Innovited linked me to a relay harness to directly connect to the battery, but I'm thinking that if I can get a hold of a CANBUS harness like you have (assuming that's the only difference in your setup), that'd be a lot easier!
I'm an idiot. I completely missed it in your video description.... /shame. Ordering a pair - hopefully they'll work. This truck is so much work to take everything apart to test a headlight, lol.
The decoder kit you linked worked like a charm! Also, I'm getting really good at removing and replacing the grill & lights, lol. Did you ever change out your high beams? There's so little space where they're located. I'm on the fence about modifying the housing even more to let some good LED (with the fans) fit in there.
Hey love your videos. I have a 2014 ram 1500 like you and i used your recommendation followed your video which was very easy and informative and installed the innovited hids. They work awesome just like you said but I noticed that my head lights don't work on auto anymore. I have to turn them on for the headlights to work. Did that happen with yours and if so what was the fix?
I can't remember which of your other videos I commented on about my low beams going out, using the same setup you did, Innovited 55W 5000k HID and the Hikari CANBUS Decoders. You suggested not using the Auto function and that helped a bit, then going to work one night they went out even using manual mode. I drove in tonight with fogs only lol. I am wondering if the ballasts are not good, both sides are acting up. Usually after sitting when I walk up and unlock it, they'll light but not now. It almost seems that water effects them, every time it rains I have this problem. I don't seem to notice it when its dry. I really don't want to pull everything apart again, but I work midnights and have to have lights.
Hey Jamie its the Hikari decoders. They work great for several months and then seem to act up. I've replaced one already and its starting to act up again. I'm going to come up with a better solution for us and make a vid soon on it.
BoostedMotorsports thanks brother! Well let me tell you. I tried it with new ballast and no Hikari decoders. Same result. I have pinpointed it down to this: I have the key in ACC or RUN and the lights fire. Start the truck up and after a few seconds, they go out. Hey on a positive note, I didn’t break any grille clips this time! Lol 😂😂😂 So I have a harness coming from innovited. It will be here today. I found that the ‘15+ Mopar vehicles need an additional harness, according to Morimotohid.com
BoostedMotorsports hey brother! Got my harness in and working now other than the bulb out message. Like you said the Hikari decoders. Also getting a little flicker once in a while. Nothing bad. I talked ya up in my video. ruclips.net/video/35XcTgcVII8/видео.html

@@chrishotham2854 more like a 32$ hid kit vs a $45 led kit
Thanks for the feedback! Glad you found the video helpful 👍👍👍

Thats awesome Sadie glad you found it helpful! 👍😎
l was about to go out and install some LEDs this morning, hoping the written reviews were exaggerating how unfocused LEDs were in the projector housings. THis video convinced me to just return the LEDs and buy the HIDs before even trying out the LEDs. Thanks for the video
Have you had any issues with
-longevity
-headlamp melting
-color phase shift
since you installed these since 25th March 2018?
Thanks in advance.
I just bought my 2016 hemi sport and that's going to be my first mod keep up with those good videos.
I got a 2016 also and this video just screwed me. I got the 9012 and it takes the 9005 bulb. so beware.
Thanks for the info
Do you still recommend this set up today? I have a 2017 RAM with the factory projector housing. Also, is the new HIKARI LED Headlight Bulbs Conversion Kit-9006(HB4),2019 New Gen of HIKARI, Adjustable Beam, 9600lm 6K Cool White,2 Yr Warranty from Amazon comparable to the $70 Hikari LED fog lights you have?
Yes I would still go with a HID in these projectors for the best light output
@@bmwlady5820 did you ever correct this?
I've got a 2015 tundra with spyder headlights projector. Can not see a thing at night. The head light uses one bulb for high beam and low beam ? So would the high beam work with thus kit ?
I recommend innovited! I have a 2015 gmc sierra with 9012 bulbs. 6k 55w with relay are perfect! Visibility doubled no bs. Working on a video.
i have a 2013 ram 1500 sport with the projectors . i do not have the plug on the back of the headlight . mine just has a plug that you plug into the back of a bulb .
If I'm installing HIDs in my ram 1500 projectors but I'm using Alfa OBD to change settings to hid present do I still need to use the can bus and the ballast? Thanks
The led type I used on my bike (which has projectors installed) I had to used a 360 degree type led. Works perfect.
Similar experience with my '06 Beetle - LEDs in the projectors were terribly dim compared to the halogen bulbs. Conclusion: LED bulbs do not work well in projectors as retrofits.
Yeah I agree Dennis! Much better suited to put HID in the factory halogen projectors 👍
I honestly thought LEDs would be better as its new technology... I was wrong.
Both my bmw E30 and ford fiesta van have HiD bulbs with projectors. hands down destroy the LEDs
How did you avoid moisture inside the lights
I have a 14 Ram, I love your videos, I just did the exact same HID upgrade thanks to you, awesome videos man!
Thanks for the feedback! It was way better in the end for sure!
Can I install LED headlight in my 2017 Toyota Camry which has projector headlights?
Should be able to. Look at how the replacement is and the kit you use.
Thanks for the review of hid in projector lights I have a 2020 soul and the projectors suck. I too was worried about LEDs not giving a good pattern and a projector. But on a side note my daughter's 2022 Corolla with factory design LEDs are excellent lights
Just ordered my headlights 💯 real glad I watched this video before just buying random bulbs!
Thanks! Let me know what you think of the other mod videos on this channel too when you get a chance!
Did you have to run a power relay to the battery? I ordered a set of hids and the company says I need to run extra wiring to the battery?
I had HIDs in the past. About 6-10 months after I put them in, the main computer component on the truck blew and I had to replace, 2k later. They dealer was the only one who could fix it and they attributed to blowing of the computer to the HIDS I had installed. Have you every heard anything like this before? Had this problem?
Damn that sucks! I haven't heard that and still no issues on mine after running a bunch of different setups for over a year 😎
Goes pretty far but doesn’t seem too wide though. How is it at lighting up the ditches and bushes on the side of the road?
Just put the same set up in my 2015 ram, and the lights work only when the accessories are on but not when the engine is running. Any idea what i can do?
I clicked the link to order the 55w 9006(hb4) but the plug and light was wrong, Amazon reccomend the 9005(hb3) for 2015 Ram, is that what i should order?
Hey with this 55w kit, do I have to worry about them burning my projector housings? Thanks in advance
I was wondering if installing a 35w kit in an original halogen projector headlight would burn the bowl of it. Does anyone know?
Thanks for sharing this, I just ordered the same kit yesterday after being surprised (like many others) how poor the performance was from an LED in a halogen projector housing.
Bought the kit. Got the c6 fogs as well. Followed the vid tutorial. Thanks bro. Total difference
Hell yeah thats awesome Chris glad you like it! 👍
@@BoostedMotorsports Do you mind sharing how long did they lasted?
Thanks
@MtgCoach our revised kit is on our website ShopBoosted.com
Seems like HID still owns the night. I got some LED bulbs i'm going to try out in my Mustang. I doubt they are going to beat my HID setup.
Yeah LED seems to perform well in reflector style housings while HID works great it projectors. 😎
How have these bulbs held up over the years?
Are those still work? I got a same kit. Not working on second day. It flicker few minutes then no longer turn on. You know whats goning on?
So you put 9012 HID's in? The link goes to 9006 on Amazon.
The problem with those hikari is the led chip placement and the chip it self the chip dosnt mimic the factory halogen
Plus the HIKARI uses the new Phillips Lumiled diodes versus those ones that were used prior.
i noticed in the comments for the canbus kit they sell it says you need a relay too... do you know why it's recommended? you didn't use one.
What is best halogen bulbs for projector headlights car ?
Do you think philips x tream vision ok?
yep
For some odd reason I cant get my 9006 or 9012 bulbs to fit in the oem projector headlights on my 2016 Ram. Honestly it looks like I might just have to trim them
I have 2018 ram 1500 with projector headlights which is a good led bulbs for them?
The Innovited HIT 55w, you use the diamond white? You have a video on the modification you said you did to turn the bulb around? Thanks for the info. Think I’m going with this set up. H11, H9, H8 kit on amazon?
Would the same HID Kit/Canbus decoder that you used work on the 2015 Ram??
Yeah it should just double check your bulb type cause RAM was switching things up with bulbs even though the headlights look the same
The HID kit does not seem to be available on amazon. (sorry couldn't find page message) Is there a kit model number?? To look/buy somewhere else.
Just search 55w Innovited HID kit they sell them on Amazon, eBay or through their store too 👍
How do the colors match from headlight with hid and led fogs
The HID 6000k bulbs are a bit more blue for sure. I'm going to be testing 5000k and 4300k HID bulbs next which should match better.
BoostedMotorsports Thnks
what low beam bulbs did you end up with? The innovited ones dont fit and suck!
Looking for the correct brand/bulb?
Thanks
I dont think unpinning the connector is very difficult.. just sayin.. question do you ever use your auto high beam function? Reason I ask is I'm wondering how that works with HID . I have 2 single beams I my commander and I was gonna do led in the high beams and just keep the hid in the lows. Would you do that or can his do well when they are flashing on and off .. u know they flash off when theres on coming traffic.. thank u for the video
I would do HID for lows if its projector and LED for highs. That way you still can flash the highs and they are instantly bright when you switch them on 👍
The link is wrong. I ordered the hids and the wrong ones came in, Amazon can’t find that product anymore either.
Updated the description they must have changed the listing. They sell them everywhere just search innovited 55w HID kit
BoostedMotorsports ok thanks for help
What's up John? Thanks for all u do. Have learned a lot from this channel. I as well have a 2018 ram and clicked on the link u have for the hid bulb replacement and when i do amazon tells me it doesn't fit the ram application. maybe it's me but would u double check the link u show us? Thanks from Texas
Hey boosted I ran those innovated hid in my 2015 ram sport with projector headlights and at first they worked perfect drove the truck and then parked it and later on in the day I started it back up and they just flickered once or twice and would not power on I have them ran with the decoder as well would you have any suggestions on what I should do or what the issue could be
did you correct this?
Compared to your LED fogs, your HID’s headlights appear to have a blue tint. Is this the case? I am unsure about purchasing the 5000k vs the 6000k, I just don’t want a blue tint.
What’s the link to the low beam kit or bulb size ?
What modification did you do to the bulb to get the pigtail to point the other way
Hey Patrick you'll see three different sized pegs on the bulb and you just need to trim the two larger ones so that you can insert the bulb at a different position. Let me know if you have any other questions
BoostedMotorsports thanks
Thanks brother appreciate it! Yeah I couldn't believe the difference but I'm a lot happier with the light output for sure! 👍
Hi. My 2017 ram 1500 has the non projector headlights can I use this kit for them? Thank you
I just bought an Innovited 35 watt 4300k can-bus kit for a Mercedes c300, hopefully this will fix the poor lighting issue with stock halogen projectors.

There is the link to exactly what you will need , just make sure to choose the correct bulb size for your spyder headlight housing. Follow the instructions from this video and you should be fine
So if the ballast is canbus, does that mean I wouldn't need a resistor adapter setup like most people do for the rams.
alweezierojas1 were you able to fit all wires ballast and cambus inside the headlight without drilling holes in the headlights
BoostedMotorsports thanks 🤜
I installed this exact kit with the exact decoder and it wouldn’t turn on or it would flicker I did everything exactly the way you did it
Hey boosted I bought the same kit and they stay on then turn off when I turn the truck on so you happen to know why?
Ya and ur probably blinding everyone
@@stepdad9953 I get blind by stock LEDs on new cars as well.
Were the original factory bulbs in your lights H7? If so how did you convert them to 9012, does the innovite kit come with the stuff to do that?
What type of screws where used to mount the ballast?
do you have the picture of the poor LED kit? I would like to avoid those type/design.
BoostedMotorsports right on! Thanks brother. Great videos.
How did you have the led bulb inside it says to put the bulb in with the actual leds themselves facing side to side instead of up and down
Yeah I messed around with clocking the bulbs in different ways but there is always a dead spot.
I run 100w hid and no problem.
I didn't run in to the issue with led's you demonstrated. Maybe the brand or too short a led off the ballast. You need a longer thinner led, not the short ones.
can you see the sides of the roads with the HIDs
Thanks for the info. So if you don’t recommend this particular kit because of the pigtail issue. Which other kit would you recommend?
Any advice?
Hmm are you using the auto function? I've heard some people run into issues using auto and go away if you just turn the headlights on manually.
Is that the kit you used?
what size of step bit did you use ?
Please let me know if the hid kit you bought from innovitted 55w is plug and play without a canbus
Yes it is. I have the links to the parts I used in the description for everyone 👍
Hi ! , I have a question I have a 2015 Honda Accord EX-L with factory halogen projector , I put a H11 C6 LED for the low beam , and doesn’t bright far has halogen , is any LED kit that can be good in the proyector , because I bought so many LED bulbs and I’m tired that any one work well and I waste my money and I end using the halogen ☹️
So using a 9005 or 9006 bulb still works fine as fitment? Seeing that the stock is a 9012.
They are all the same plug just the tabs are slightly different. If you trim the tabs you can get any of them to fit eachother
Ok thanx man. I’m still thinking of trying out the LED bulbs. Then if not satisfied I’m gonna go hid. I have the Laramie with the projectors.
Hey brother I have a question , I have Laramie 2016 this bulbs h11.h8 h9 fits in my truck ?
Yes u need a relay
This truck is so much work to take everything apart to test a headlight, lol.
lol no worries Conrad! You'll be an expert in no time! 😁
The decoder kit you linked worked like a charm! Also, I'm getting really good at removing and replacing the grill & lights, lol. Did you ever change out your high beams? There's so little space where they're located. I'm on the fence about modifying the housing even more to let some good LED (with the fans) fit in there.
@boostedmotorsports you didn't have to use a relay harness for your 55w kit? Mine wouldn't stay on without one. How'd you do it?
Nope just pickup "hikari canbus decoders" and plug them in between the truck's harness and the 55w Innovited HID kit
@@BoostedMotorsports I had opt 7 decoder and it still didn't work. Had to use a relay harness. I'll give Hikari a chance.
Never mind I got it figured out
Hey Angel sorry just seeing this now. How did you end up fixing it?
How did the LED compare to factory?
Lol 😂😂😂
So I have a harness coming from innovited.
Do you think a 4 sided led work better than a 2 sided led in a halogen projector?
Yeah for sure! HID is better for this application!
Can you update the link for the HID light bulb kit, please?
Fixed here ya go 💪 amzn.to/2OLsvok
