    It's amazing that they performed this live on TOTP, something that was virtually unheard of back in 1991. Wow!

    • @vermilliongecko
      @vermilliongecko 4 года назад +10

      Incorrect. As part of TOTP 'Year Zero' revamp in 1991, rules relating to performance were altered meaning acts had to sing live as opposed to the backing tracks for instruments and mimed vocals for which the show was known. It didn't work for a lot of bands whose vocals were sampled, so the practice was shortlived. The changes were widely unpopular and by 1994 the practice was phased out. (See Wikipedia for more on TOTP 'Year Zero' revamp changes).

      It's more than the live aspect, they were so creative with the remixes and alternative ways of performing the chart position tracks each week 🐾 That is really ability when you are not afraid to push the boundaries of what was the norm and show your versatility and music 🎶 style to the audience. Can't believe its all 30 years ago now 🙃

    The Shamen's finest record for me and one of the first tracks that got me into dance music. It's one dance music's great mysteries that this top band never kicked on after their successful era of the early-90s. Boss Drum remains one of the great albums in the history of dance music.

    Remember when your Dad said that modern bands couldn't play. This was live!
    My memory of the 90's is a bit vague, too many recreational pharmaceuticals, but it was an amazing decade for music and getting wasted. Every penny earned went on clubbing and Ibiza three times a year. 62 now but still ready to play. Sniffed so much I still have a nervous habit of rubbing my nose and chewed so much gum I still grind my teeth when I listen to dance music. Ebeneezer knows what I mean.

      1. Fake Jamaican. 2. White person trying to be black. 3. wigger. Thank You, I've never heard that term before..... Hilarious but I think in those days it was just singing/toasting/rapping or whatever I don't remember ever hearing the term cultural appropriation lol

      Say what you like about Mr.C, but he kept the band going when they were grief stricken and in shock after the sudden death of Will Sinnott, two months before this was filmed.
