Saw this at an empty theater on the weekend. I was initially surprised by how little attention this movie is getting but now I understand. Here are my thoughts while watching this movie. Why is this girl treated so badly after getting rid of the killer? She killed him in such a badass way too. That part made no sense. Her parents seemed really unlikeable with no redeeming qualities before she wishes herself out of existence. That sort of undercuts the lesson Winnie is supposed to learn, doesn't it? Why does Winnie tip off Waters that she suspects he is the killer during the interrogation? Why is Waters killing off the teenagers and not the adults? How is he elected mayor when there are murders happening every week? Why doesn't Winnie immediately kill the Angel after he falls down the stairs? If Waters can hypnotize the town, then what was the point of anything, including the murders? Why does the ending feel like it's from a Disney channel movie? I like high concept films in general, especially these new takes on the slasher genre. However, the character motivations and story still have to make sense. On the positive side, I did like the look of the killer and the murder sequences were well filmed. My favorite shot is when the all white killer gets splattered with blood.
I didn't understand why she wished herself away so quickly. She's mad at them for not talking about the murder during the Christmas time and trying to keep things light hearted. She's mad about it.... I get it's her Best friend that died but they just go straight to I wish I didn't exist. The wish was totally unearned. The execution is so poor it's infuriating. Because the concept is a really good idea and has the potential to either be a spoof or something that could turn into a cult classic Also this is just my two senses but they are not subtle with the LGBT stuff, so much that feels absolutely forced and out of place.
7:12 I feel your frustration on a broader scale. It just seems like every movie today tries to ship the two main characters out of nowhere. Regular friendships can also be a powerful bond, as proven by Frodo and Sam.
I know the gents rated this at a low score, but, I kinda want to see it still. One of those... talk to Mary Jane beforehand, grab some snacks, and have 0 expectations. Is that wrong? (Asking for my cats 🐈 🐈⬛😉).
The makers of this and _Freaky_ also made _Happy Death Day_ which was the slasher-movie version of _Groundhog Day_ . I enjoyed _Happy Death Day_ , but this team making slasher-movie versions of more-wholesome fantasy-themed movies was getting tiresome. I hope the box office results for this movie puts a stop to that trend.
''I got so tired of all the queer elements''💀 I feel SO bad when it happens to me too - that's why I stopped watching Sex Education. It doesn't happen that much! I won't watch this movie, but it won't be because of that though😭😂
They honestly cared more about representation more than telling a good story. That's one of the major issues with the film. Katherine Isabelle, a horror icon, was reduced to a stereotypical lesbian aunt cut out. I rolled my eyes at the track suit line because *NOBODY* would say that in real life!
I was enjoying the first act of the movie. I liked the snowy town, the kills, the Angel of death killer with the snow globe face. But then it was like they just wanted to remake the “reveal” portion from all of their favorite movies. What if there were 2 killers and they had to climb over one of the killers to escape (Scream), what if the whole town was already beyond being saved or complicit (Invasion of the body snatchers or A Wrinkle in Time), what if we make the title associate this movie with a much beloved movie or characters (Winnie The Pooh:Blood & Honey)? I’m surprised they didn’t throw in an alien abduction, fairy godmother, and government conspiracy. It’s okay to make a simple slasher, it’s okay to make an homage film, and it’s okay to do fantastical strange things…. But you need to set them up before the last 25 minutes of the movie. I wanted to go along for the ride, but now I’m lost without a ride home. And at Christmas time, too! 😂
I couldn't agree more and I saw it in the theatres. Bad writing and too many cringeworthy, cookie cutter, Hallmark characters. As a gay Native American man, I love representation but jesus this felt so forced I was like 😟🙄🫣. I was physically wincing at that cringe factor the writing and characters were bringing. And LMAO at Nick's Tootsie reference because yes. Honestly looking forward to Terrifier 3 after this mess.
“Ya’ll were more concerned about having all these queer characters than telling a story that made sense or was fun/interesting.” LOL THIS! I agree it felt like they had too many ideas that were all half assed. Especially the whole hypnotized townspeople thing…that came out of nowhere. Tbh the best thing about this movie was Justin Long and Katherine Isabelle. They really didn’t need the romantic plot either with Bernie. It felt more effective with them just being friends.
Justin Long’s look from the stills seems ‘demented stunt double of the cloned love-child’ of Dylan McDermott and Ewan McGregor . . . configured by bad AI. 👀
Joseph saying a character is "kinda evil" in a Horror Comedy...Makes me want to watch, to see what *real evil* is, with the "one dimensional characters" Nick takes issues with...may be not!😀
Joseph I agree with you...and I'm a gay man. These days there are films that mostly have gay characters. Even though the situation in real life would mostly be heteronormative. It makes no sense and is overkill.
I absolutely applaud u guys for ur perspective on this film, my wife and I watched this at the Telluride Horror Film Festival this year. I wanted to like this film, but I whole heartedly agree with everything u guys have said. Especially when it came to the queer characters in the story. It's extremely refreshing to hear a gay couple speak about the unnecessary inclusion of gay characters in film strictly for the purpose of having gay characters. I feel like too many shows and films are doing this now and it's fine if it serves the story, but if not then it's just unnecessary pandering. U guys are awesome at film reviews, keep up the amazing work. 👍👌😁
see i understand that it's not the best slasher out their, but that opening was amazing. was deserving of a banana cream pie. it went from intelligent to dumb, as that's what most slashers tend to utilize to be lazy. the dialogue was pants, major pants. some of it was great stabby action horror, as someone sand papered off moon knights face, enacting revenge on those who say no to his business proposals. the horror was fun, when it was on screen, but when that died the movie died, so you'd rely more on waiting for that then care about anyone important. throwaway fun.
I did *NOT* like this one. Like it was okay but the story needed some more meat on the bones. Justin Long did a great job and I liked the Bernie chick and the lead girl. But the last act was just cheese!
I’m still going to watch this as Justin Long is my favorite final girl and I feel obligated to support whatever nonesense he’s in 😂
I love that for her!!! (Justine, that is 😉😄)

I lost my shit when the Angel was down and they had every opportunity to kill him. .but didn’t?

Thanks for sitting through something i won't
These films are basically Tubi originals

10:48 for me it was Barbara Crampton NOW 😂😂
Great comparation of Justin Long with Max Shreck from Batman Returns!
Thank you for all the reviews, I enjoy listening to you, even when i wont watch the movies.
Justin tends to be the best part of most of his projects 😂

Thats such a disgusting statement as white and straight elements are all over movies and no one complains

Looks like most of us will only be watching this just for Justin Long. 😆 He's so adorable no matter the how awful the material is.

Did you ever/would you ever review the movie Clue (1985) or Serial Mom (1994)?
If i remember correctly, they reviewed Serial Mom during a live.
Yeh they did serial mom
Id love a review of Clue. What a classic 😊
I resonate with your review 💯 %
Justin Long is so much better than the movies he gets. Someone please pair him up with Robert Eggers!
Exactly! He needs to be put in movies that fit his acting level. He is a very underrated actor.
Justin long was good in tusk
Justin was fantastic in that flick
And drag me to hell
I rather fancied him in Barbarian!!
I still want a Tusk 2: My Life As A Twisted Walrus 😂
Great video! 🎉

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who hated this film. I watched it last night. I had to power through it.
Rewatched the beginning several times to see if they explain the plain greenscreen background 😅
Nick's blue shirt was not compatible, so he looked like a floating head and neck.
Yeah. Sometimes grabbing a key a pain
A floating Nick head and neck...that sounds like something better to watch than the movie.😄
Joseph I agree with you...and I'm a gay man. These days there are films that mostly have gay characters. Even though the situation in real life would mostly be heteronormative. It makes no sense and is overkill.
Are y’all gunna review the 5 nights at Freddy’s movie wanna hear y’all take fr

What’s the point of sitting in front of a green screen if you’re not gonna use it?
Y’all should review the fnaf movie pls
I liked it.
Well the green screen was unexpected.
Yes think that was an oopsy
They wrote that Nick’s shirt wasn’t compatible, he was a floating head.
For my two cents I’d watch Nick and Joseph any time in any form😍😍
I did *NOT* like this one. Like it was okay but the story needed some more meat on the bones. Justin Long did a great job and I liked the Bernie chick and the lead girl. But the last act was just cheese!
As a gay man, I was also very distracted by all the gay characters. Just felt forced.
🥱Justin Long needs to retire.
Justin Long? UGH! That's a no for me!
I'm beginning to think Justin long in movies are a bad omen😂
