  • In our first episode of Five Minutes of Freediving, Anna 'Nusy' Horvath shows us her favourite arm and shoulder exercises for freediving that you can do at your own home to improve flexibility and mobility, especially to achieve that smooth streamlined dynamic arrow position.
The Molchanovs Mission is to share our love of freediving with the world. We do this by cultivating the level of knowledge and skill of all freedivers, by building global and local communities that fuel passion for freediving, and by developing gear that provides the best freediving experience possible.
Our inspiration, Natalia Molchanova, is one of the greatest and most decorated freedivers in history. She was a passionate educator and a role model to many in the freediving community. Molchanovs is firmly rooted in her philosophies and approach to freediving, and is continuously updated with the latest developments in education, technology, and scientific research. We are inspired and honored to have had Natalia as our inspiration. Without her, the Molchanovs Movement would not exist today.

Very nice routine, for an important position that most of us struggle to hold properly. Great video 👍🏻

Can you hold your breath until you pass out? If not do you know of anyone that can?

Yes it's possible, that's how blackouts in freediving happen.

Hi Glenn, yes blackouts from holding your breath happens, they're absolutely real! Both in water and also on land, so please be careful when doing any types of breath-holding, and find yourself a certified buddy, or take up an official freediving course before you attempt any prolonged in-water breath holds!

Hi Adam, thanks for your comment. Each individual body is unique and flexibility is an aspect that differs for each person so all levels of flexibility are realistic. The aim of the video is to provide a series of stretches that may help freedivers as part of their general routine (or before diving) to improve flexibility and mobility overall. It isn't aimed at simply increasing flexibility in 6 minutes. The stretches in the video are generally accessible but you must also be aware and decide your own limit - so you can skip the exercises that don't suit and ensure you avoid any potential for injury. You don't have to look exactly like Nusy or come to the full extent of the stretches that she does, please listen to your body :)
