      Lot’s to be said for simplicity. Particularly on a tourer.

    Good audio, good video, nice riding scenery. Keep that formula going and your channel will grow. I just subscribed For the BMW content. It’s all about the editing and multiple camera shots so keep up the challenge and they will come.

    I am searching for the dimensions of the latest shiftcam boxer engine. If somebody knows... I would be really grateful for this info. Thanks in advance. Great video by the way.

    I had a water pump issue and in reading the forums some folks said that the water pump stop leaking after a while. So bmw says ignore the weeping? Some folks say that bmw should fix the issue, but have not recalled the bikes for the water pump issues. Your perspective ?

      Hi Michael. Hard for me to have a perspective without knowing more about the bike -- age, maintenance history, etc., and about what the weeping looked like. Bottom line for me -- if it is a defect, it should be fixed under warranty or recall. I feel like BMW have been pretty good about that, particularly in the US with the issue of the Hayes Caliper recall. I will see what I can find out in the forums and if I learn anything more about the water pump issue you're describing I will post another reply. Thanks for bringing this up.

      @@TheJedRides thanks appreciate the quick response. I talked to a BMW technician who said that there’re has been issues on the boxer engine R1200 and GS, and they tell folks to just keep an eye on the coolant levels. However my bike was in storage for 5 years with the previous owner and that might have caused seals to dry out on the bike and therefore it’s a bigger problem and my need to be replaced. He went onto say that the 1200 boxer engines are 70% air cooled, so even having low coolant will not overheat the bike. I live in AZ and ridden in 110F without any issue. Of course planning a long ride I might have to spring for a new water pump. Thanks again. 👍👍

    Ha I notice I a little late to the table ….😂 and I was just going to say that I thought the sound was perfect 👍 I’m from Wiltshire in the UK & iv been on Harleys for 20+ years then 5 years ago a friend turned up to stay over, he was on a K16 and I got to thinking maybe it’s time for a change 😮 I test rode the K16 against the RT 1200 and I totally agree with you on the weight of the K16 and really not much difference in usable power it just made the RT feel a breeze to ride so I sold the Harley and bought the RT loved it two years later traded it for a 2018 GSA Amazing bike 👍 then after a road trip with my son up to Scotland to do the NC500 came bake didn’t ride much for a bit so sold it 🤦‍♂️ a month later I really felt I needed some sort of bike so I bought a Royal Enfield Himalayan 😂 love this bike not fast but handles really iv done 12k on the bike in 2 years and I did 4K in 4 years with both BMWs 🤷‍♂️ but I think it’s the fellowship of the Royal Enfield club I’m in that’s made the biggest difference in all my riding but the guys I ride with are pretty much retired and have other bikes to with some BMWs amongst them so 6 months ago I bought a 2010 GS and you are spot on what you say about it doesn’t matter which one you ride cos I just come back for a 10 day road trip to Spain across the Pyrenees amazing trip but what an Amazing bike that GS is as I said it’s a 2010 GS with 33k on the clock lovely condition it cos me 5K 😲 it never missed a beat 👍 Any sorry to go on a bit 😂 ride safe fella 🏍💨 M

    What's a range on your bike at full tank?

    • @TheJedRides
      @TheJedRides  4 года назад +1

      Fuel capacity is 7.9 gallons. I've never tested full range, but in a year of ownership I can consistently count on 40mpg no matter how aggressively I am riding or what the terrain (on road). That tends to be mostly canyon riding, with lots of elevation and roll on throttle, so I suspect at consistent highway speed, obeying the speed limit, I could do better.
