I doubted dollar cost averaging until I realized why it works. You buy more shares when price is low and fewer when it is high so you average will be lower than if you bought same number of shares at the same time interval. This is in addition to taking the emotion out of it.

I have been DCA for the past 2 months for Tesla. $100 would be great to load up again

I agree with what you say that you need to do a fair valuation and understand what the value of the stock is, but you can ask 10 different people and they will each tell you 10 different things regarding what they think the value of the stock is because it depends on how you do it and how you want to value itthat can be highly variable

I had bad FOMO for Nio 2 or 3 years ago so now my Nio holding are down 80%. I might be using Nio at the end of the year for loss harvesting.

Once upon a time when a company called Nio came and showed all EV manufacturers how to build out a real infrastructure for all. Because this change in USA is not going well at all .
Tesla has its ranges.....dca gradually into your low level entry ranges....then, when it hits your sweet spot.....bring in the brinks truck and load up. Patience, research and taming of one's emotions goes along way

You are not alone lol, there are a lot of people doing DCA since 2020.
One of the hardest parts is to do a realistic valuation without letting the stock price impact you. Especially if you really want to own the stock, that can trip you up. If you want to be a good and successful investor, stick to price targets based on valuation. Even if you have to wait forever or never get to buy the stock, it will pay off. You won't get good returns buying overvalued stocks. The downside risk is so big, it can mess up your entire investing journey.

The simplest strstegy is to follow a trend tesla trend is downward . Peoples greed of missing out on an upward move is typical of rookies who should let Berkshire invest their money
hey Luke, here an idea for a future video: explaining what you mean by "full position". I guess it means it's a percentage of your capital that you allow for this stock or investment. For example you don't want to have 50% of all your savings in Tesla, but rather stop at 10 or something. Since you use that term a lot, and it's not very clear for everyone, you could explain in a video... maybe.

Hard to explain because it is proportional to your goals and risk tolerance. It is very personal to that investor. Many factors, like , experience, time you want to be in the market, cash flow can affect how you size a position.
That’s exactly what it is. A % of your capital you are comfortable having in the stock.
Still worth a video to explain it all to those who don't know.

The problem is I went all in with a 6 figure investment on TSLA in 2021 when it was $800 something per share. My six figure investment with FXAIX made more money and continues to make more money. Maybe index fund investing is better than single stocks 🤔

O don't think Tesla is a dca strategy.. because it's better to just invest in the SP500. Either you buy low and get lucky on the way to the moon, or you keep years and years in the red zone
DCA works for every investment. The issue is time frame. You shouldn’t expect to dca anything for just 3 years and think it works. It’s a decade long way of investing and living.

Stealth what is Tesla's fair value ?$?. How do you calculate it?
There is no standard way to calculate fair value.
They make it up :)
It cannot be calculated as the whole company is based on delivering a product which does not yet exist. You can guess. That's it. That's why analysts value the stock at below current prices when there is a falling trend and above current price when there is a rising trend.

It’s your choice. 1%, 10%, 25%, 50% of your portfolio. Or pick a number of shares, 100, 250, 1000, 5000.
@svenhodaka9145 right you just always say you are filling a position or already have a filled position. Do you pick a number before getting into something as a target or wing it once in there?
@@m3chris1 I usually start with a position goal of either 100 shares or $10,000. Once I’ve achieved that I’ll reevaluate and decide if I want to set a new goal. Sometimes, I just hold at that position. Position filled. I own 15 stocks and carefully choose which ones I own. I use DCA to add. Keep it simple and be patient. 📈👍😁

Tesla will reach 2000$, hopefully in 2027 (depends on FSD/robotaxi) realistic in 2029. If robots are a succes, even 2000 will be cheap. Remember when every laughed at Cathy Wood when she in 2016 said Tesla would reach 2000$ in 2021 ? Well split adjusted it reached that in 2019 ! Cathy now say it will reach 1500-2500$ in 2027. Ron Berron think it will 5-10x in 5 years too.

Why don’t you talk about the risk of Elon may leave Tesla if they fail to accommodate his pay compensation package due to the corrupted Delaware court? Or how the lawyers are trying to extort Tesla shareholders of $6B? These are the most important factor for Tesla stock at this point.
Elon will not leave Tesla. He will simply not push Ai into the company which is essentially the bulk of Tesla’s future potential with the Robot and the Robotaxi. Other than that, Tesla will continue to work on the EVs and energy sector and ramping up normally. They can still be at 2-3X their valuation just on cars and energy alone if they simply keep growing. But not much after that in “new Tech”
Hopefully after a million pumps and dumps with Tesla everyone realizes it always slams down at some point so be patient
I like the idea of your weekly portfolio challenge. However, I'd like to see you do something more realistic for the average American. Maybe a $50 a week, or a $100 a month portfolio. Most people are financially irresponsible and can't afford $1000/$12000 month/year. A lower entry point would allow/encourage more people to start investing.

I'm losing faith in Tesla now that Elon has taken time of Twitter and doing the same wrecking ball approach he did at Twitter. In addition his Twitter persona has really damaged the brand. I don't see Robotaxi this year - he's been saying it's coming for many years now.

Tesla is a growth company with no growth. I have held the stock off and on since 2016 and weathered the downturns so long as the demand was unlimited as Elon stated. The demand is not unlimited and despite the promises and proficies of Elon, Tesla is a car company with at p/e of 60-80 (with no growth) and cannot compete with the chinese EV's. If you buy the stock make sure you also buy some puts to cover your downside.
