There are singers. There are performers. And then there are ARTISTS. The Bee Gees simply stun 40 years later. It is amazing how we took them for granted during the 1970's (for those of us who heard their music when it hit the charts). And then there were those who proclaimed "Bee Gee Free" radio play. 40 years later this music still gives me goosebumps as each time I listen to it I pick up an aspect of their craft that cannot be duplicated by anyone else. There is a synergy of artistry that is compelling and effortless. There is nothing like this now.

Not just taken for granted but an outright hate backlash. Its happened a few times but the most famous cases I can cite are the Bee Gees with the disco-esque music used in Saturday Night Fever and the Knack with Get the Knack (specifically My Sharona) that were simply so good they got airplayed to death.

They all have incredible vocal range. So very talented. All of them are doing the pitch change. Mo had the lowest voice but could also do falsetto as they all could. Just musical geniuses. Everyone assumes Barry does it all but most times Mo does the deeper vocals as in How deep is your love. In saying that they are all amazing in all ranges. Every BeeGees song is a masterpiece, and it takes all 3 of them to make that magic happen.

@@randywolfinger1496Maurice had a very big range for his voice. I heard him sing like the deep part in this song back in the day. Like when he and Barry did Cucumber Castle one of the songs they sang was called "The Lord" and his voice was deep just like this song and it was much deeper than Barry's. I have heard him sing deeper on other older songs too. Also his voice was on the deeper side for "Man In the Middle". I know he quite often sang high harmony during songs also and for live performances for songs like "Nights On Broadway" he sang very high harmony because Barry was singing deeper for the song and couldn't do the falsetto part too during the live versions.

The change in pitch is often Robin and Barry singing simultaneously. Robin had an amazing vibrato but when he and Barry sang together they sounded like one voice. I LOVE Robin's voice in solos. Mo and Barry had lower natural voices and Robin's had a higher pitch but all had great range and all could sing falsetto.

Maurice in pink shirt and Robin in middle have deeper voices although all brothers started in the deeper register. Robin and Mo both took the part you liked at different times. Barry's falsetto didn't happen until this time when their producer wanted a high pitched scream on Nights on Broadway and Barry discovered he had a perfect falsetto. Brothers are endlessly fascinating. Enjoy.

There were so many layers of vocals on the song they didn’t really do it live because they feel they could it justice. In the studio version Barry is singing primary lead, sometimes co-lead with Robin. Barry sang multiple layers of falsetto and the low chest voice lead in the pitch change you mention. It’s one of my favorite Bee Gees songs. So beautiful.

You've seen everything from soup to nuts as to who is doing what in this lol! This was their mother's favorite song of theirs (out of about 1000 songs they wrote without a one of them able to read or write music) probably because she could tell who was singing what when we really can't for sure.
So, the deep part in this particular song when it made the pitch change was Maurice (pronounced Morris and oftentimes calle Mo). The leads were shared by Robin and Barry, except when they weren't lol! Robin and Barry together often sounded like one voice. The falsettos were either Barry and Robin or all three of them as they all had ranges from baritone through falsetto, but only Barry could sustain it.
All three were also self-taught multi-instrumentalists with Mo knowing the most, then Robin, but Mo preferred playing to lead singing. Barry had a tremolo in his voice and Robin had an airy and subtle but pitch-perfect vibrato. He could sing and oftentimes did in head voice which with that beautiful quavery vibrato gave him a vulnerable delicate sound at times. Barry had a nice chest voice and switched between that and his breathy head voice when not doing falsetto.
When they recorded they usually if not always shared one microphone making it even tougher to tease their voices apart. Overall, Robin's natural voice was a bit higher from bottom to top, and Barry's a bit lower, with Mo having possibly the biggest range.
I hope that helps! Check out early stuff in the 60s for some real treats for your ears - more R&B before disco came along. For great Robin songs: Massachusetts live at Melbourne beats the old ones. He got a 5 minute standing ovation. I Started A Joke and I've Got To Get A Message to You from the 60s for him can't be beat.
Other 60s and early 70s good ones: To Love Somebody (Mo adds a super cool falsetto bit or two near the end on the video version). A great Barry song is Words. Lonely Days and Run To Me are superb from that era. How Can You Mend a Broken Heart has first and third verses from Robin and 2nd verse from Barry and is beautiful.
As others have said, more songs from this period of Fanny to check: Nights On Broadway Midnight Special version, and Jive Talkin'.
Can't wait for you to hear them all! Fanny is probably my favorite, but the others I mentioned are also hard to beat.
Btw, this song build and chord changes remind me of Hall and Oates She's Gone. Daryl Hall had a killer soulful voice if you haven't heard. ;)
    Love your reaction!

The BeeGees were: the tallest and oldest brother (with the big hair and beard), Barry Gibb, born September 1, 1946, the only surviving Gibb brother. Robin Gibb (with the long hair, no beard), born December 22, 1949-passed away May 20, 2012, and Robin's fraternal twin brother Maurice (the balding brother with the beard, pronounced "Morris") Gibb, born December 22, 1949-passed away January 12, 2003. They also had another, younger, brother Andy Gibb, born March 5, 1958-passed away March 10, 1988.
The three oldest brothers were born on the Isle of Man (UK). Oldest brother Barry got seriously burned when he accidentally pulled boiling tea over himself at 18 months old. He was in coma for a while, nearly died and was in hospital for many months. Because of this, he did not learn to talk until after the twins were born. Later the family moved to Manchester and from there they emigrated to Australia in 1958, right after Andy was born.
Their musical career, which they had started as little kids, didn't lead to international success so they moved back to the UK in 1966. Then they had a string of big hits, until they temporarily broke up around 1970 for 15 months. Started back up, looking for a new sound which they first found in 1974 with the transitional album "Mr. Natural". After that "Main Course" was the first album that moved them into a new direction: more rhythm&blues, dance music like with great hits like Nights on Broadway and Jive Talkin' (and was also actually the first album on which their logo was introduced).
From 1976 on they went all out with falsetto driven dance music which lead to their biggest commercial success as they provided classic songs for the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack (1977 Stayin' Alive, How Deep is Your Love, Night Fever amongst them). You should react to the 1979 live version of Stayin' Alive, too ruclips.net/video/7niXSh7vWRI/видео.html Other great songs to analyze: great album tracks from the 1979 Spirits Having Flown album, the title song: ruclips.net/video/WH_j90fCIk4/видео.html, the outrageously beautiful song Reaching Out ruclips.net/video/vfHUS5Mf00Q/видео.html. Maurice had the lowest register, Robin had that operatic rich tone, Barry had the deep voice and sustained high falsetto, BUT all three could sing falsetto and different voices from tenor to baritone. Just give it up because when Barry and Robin blended their voices, they created a singular fourth voice. There's a baby brother Andy who had a solo career and three #1s in a row. Andy was to join his brothers as the fourth Bee Gee, but died at age 30 from a diseased heart weakened by a drug habit.

Robin just made a quick switch from his falsetto to his normal baritone for that second verse near the start. As for who was doing it throughout the song, all of them can do it, but IMO Barry has the best falsetto, while Robin had the best Baritone. The reason I say that, if you listen to their earliest hits, like "Gotta Get a Message to You", you can hear Robin KILL IT at Baritone.

All the brothers have incredible range. Here they are all singing "cause its all that Ive got and our love won't forsake me". Barry is usually the one who comes out with the baritone, but Robin's voice melts right into Barry's and will often sound like one voice. Barry's lower range is featured in "wind of change". Maurice the bass playing brother did a solo " Railroad" that features his lower baritone range. And 16 year old Robin sang "somewhere" from "West side story" in a very low baritone in 1966. But Robin and Maurice opted to use their upper range most often in the BeeGees songs, while you hear Barry's midrange voice most often before 1976 and after 1980. Barry's sings falsetto in most songs between 1976 & 1980. Anyway.... Love your reactions & love the BeeGees. Hope youll do more of them!

@@KingGreatnessKG I should have mentioned there are several tracks of each of the brothers' voices laid on top of each other here. So that is another reason it is hard to follow who is singing! They rarely sang this live in concert because they would have to play their own background tracks along with their live singing. Next: Love you Inside Out, Alone, Run to me, Morning of my Life....❤❤❤

Barry has the deep voice here, as well as some of the mid-range and falsettos. Robin’s voice is always in the mid to higher range. He doesn’t go really deep. Barry said he naturally has a deeper voice than Robin. But then you have Barry’s high falsetto.

Barry is doing the low to high pitch change. He naturally has a stellar deeper voice, gorgeous mid-range, as well as his celebrated falsetto. Maurice, not sure what he’s doing here. He might be doing both deep and falsettos, too, because he can. He basically fills in wherever he’s needed. Robin has a higher voice than Barry naturally.
The thing I love about this song is how confused one gets. One can’t keep up. So one just surrenders.

The 3 of them could go deep and then fly up to the highest peach in an incredible amalgamation of deep and higher peachy voices , they were just amazing, Barry , went high very high and then Robin and then Maurice, the only real difference was that Barry played the guitar , Robin played no instruments ( I never saw a video with Robin playing an instrument ) and Maurice was the multi instruments player , Maurice was the brains behind the incredible “ Nights on Broadway “ , and they also sang with their younger brother Andy , the 4 of them were multi talented, and excellent singers, the Bee-gees were a one in a generation event.
Irreplaceable and more than amazing, so sad 3 of them died very young, Andy died from his addiction to drugs , Maurice confessed that he had problems with alcoholism, he was in an up and down problem that eventually caught up with him , Robin died from cancer and only Barry remains alive, I think that the Bee-gees were a once in a generation event and they will never be forgotten, Awesome Bee-Gees .

Maurice did not die from alcohol. He had a twisted intestine from a birth abnormality and the hospital messed up and he died within 2 days from complications. Robin shared this same problem so when he started with the same symptoms and his Dr. Found out what his twin had died from , they did emergency surgery and saved his life. He passed years later from kidney failure from it being weakened from cancer treatments. Andy died from myochardidas, a swelling in the muscles surrounding his heart caused from an infection. They feel that years of substance abuse weakened his heart more and he passed from that.

Morris is the one on the left hand side, Morris was the genius instrumentalist of the group , his voice was the lowest and the deepest , in the middle we have Robin , he had an incredible voice as his brother Barry the one on the right hand side, Barry was the guy with the highest pitch in his voice ( he’s the one on the right hand side ) Barry and Robin were the duo with the highest falsetto voices but Morris ( they used to call him the guy in the middle ) he was a consummated Conservatory Alumni , he was a member of a Conservatory Orchestra and he was a multi instrumentalist, he play several instruments and he was the one that could read music and he was a consummated guitar , Piano , Organ ( he was a Symphonic Orquesta instrumentalist ) his voice was the lowest but he could sing music with a high pitch, he was the genius behind the Phenomenal “ Nights On Broadway “ I recommend you hear that one : So we have Barry , the oldest and the main high pitch singer along with his brother Barry who had a very high pitch , so they are from Right to left :
Barry , the oldest and the main Pitch singer and main composer ,
ROBIN : The One in the middle
The one without instruments, he had a very high pitch Voice also,
MORRIS : He was the multi instrumentalist and he could play almost any instrument, he could read music also , but his voice pitch was the deeper one, although he had a high peach as you can see in this video .
These 3 guys were the best musicians , Composers and best singers in History , they were real Misters of the Craft , they were the very Best = THE BEE GEES .

The record companies favouring his brother's (Barry's) reinforced falsetto. To hear Robin's falsetto he sings the verses on 'Living Together' (Spirits having flown album). Maurice sang many different styles of music from Country on his own singles to Rock with his brothers 'House of Shame'. I think that was their last album.
