SPARTAN II supersoldiers are trained to fight without the use of help, they are willing to give their lives up to prevent precious cargo from falling into enemy hands.
Elite Honour Guard don't give a fuck. Makes for a good cutscene though, if they were regular troops then it would just be a generic shootout scene with plasma fire everywhere.
Nope, their armors are blue, they are normally minor. But they have spears...so minors who stole honnour guards spears ? What's wrong whit those elites ? Wrong armors to use the spears, killed like flies...poor shangeilis. But an honnourable charge, we must say it. Long live the Covenant !
Short explanation: Ensemble wanted a cutscene to show how Spartans how much of a "badass" they are but they didn't care about making it believable, they just took elite minors (weakest elites) with spears (bad choice of weapon) against super soldiers (odds clearly too much in the Spartan's favour) Ensemble made them morons that charge at the Spartans, there's no way the elites were that dumb, they would have cornered the spartans and assaulted their position with snipers and heavy weapons (fuel rod guns) while a small group would have got close to the Spartans with Energy Swords (Cloaked Elites you see in Halo Ce and Halo 2). I would have imagined Elites attacking the spartans from afar and calling Hunters to pressure the Spartans while Jackals snipe them with beam rifles and cloaked elites approach them with energy swords. The Arbiter (Ripa Moramee) wasn't an idiot, he was a decent leader and warrior, so it's impossible he would have planned this poorly sending waves of minors against super soldiers.
Say what you want about the story, Halo Wars game play was fucking awesome. Spartans finally felt like Spartans, none of this "get tapped by a ghost moving 2 mph, insta-death" crap. @@thebighurt2495 well, the most Johnson did was punch a brute in the stomach and have a knee to the face, Forge litterally put the arbiter on his ass and disarmed him before being destroyed by one huge punch to the stomach
i love how the arbiter was like "like the rest of your kind weak and undisciplined" but he got tackled by forge and hell his "kind" is getting their ass kicked by forge's kind hahahahha
I think I figured out how Forge tackled the Arbiter, if you look after they go to the ground you can see the ground was uneven, maybe after that last sword swing, (which looked very sloppy, probably because the Arbiter was angry about Forge evading him at the first swing) he may have lost balance enough for forge to tackle him successfully, also take into consideration that Elites knees bend forward, I don't have knees like that, but maybe something about their anatomy makes force applied from the front more "weighty" for lack of a better word. in short, it is possible Forge got lucky with that Tackle, but under normal equal-footed ground it would have been like tackling an Oak tree.
It’s simple football technique, you get a low center of gravity and you hit the waist. A small person can take down a taller person easily if they go low.
Man and it is unbeleivable to think that these spartans are like in their late teens or early twenties, still much too learn from the covenant yet a lot learned from the heavy training.
This was the scene that cemented the Spartans as the ‘Jedi’ of the Halo Universe. They were always said to be a group of augmented ninja powerhouses that were unmatched in combat, and we finally got to see what that looked like. We of course played as one beforehand in the trilogy, but we never got to see a Spartan move like this before.
bruh i can't believe that in 2009 that these were actual graphics in a game... Like damn, the animation and graphics are still better than alot of games today
anonyman13 It's called tactical command. The Lieutenant is technical staff member, when it comes to field operations he would defer command to the person who has tactical command of the operation since he himself is not trained to run a combat mission. He's only there to arm the bomb.
anonyman13 Reason why he could command them because he was in there and not just that he said "Take care of the Elites, he's mine" the Spartans could obviously see that elites was coming with spears so they had no choice. Reason why the Lieutenant Spartan done what Sergeant forge said is because sergeant Forge said that he believes that they would need every Spartan to win the fight. So the Spartans went away. Also a Spartan lieutenant would command mainly spartans.
UneducatedCraft ProEdition none of those Spartans are lieutenants, the marine killed by Ripa the Arbiter of 2531 is the lieutenant that anonyman is referring to.
I find it funny how the arbiter says "like the rest of your race weak and undisciplined" as the spartans are effortlessly wiping out like 30 elite honor guards XD
The Arbiter, the disgraced who could’ve broken the Covenant, given suicidal missions by the prophets to redeem himself, you mean. He did die like a bitch, however.
in fact his father is a spartan I, therefore he would be a Spartan 1.1 there he has his strength and support when he fights with the inquisitor that is known by a novel, I recommend a channel that talks about that subject is LULYEAH only that is in Spanish that is like a halo wiky is very complete in addition to giving the topics with a humorous touch. by the way I use a translator I do not write well in English: v
+Misael Meraz keep in mind the covenant are extremely religious and in that aspect they do stupid things. Also, these elites seem sub-par. not just spears, energy spears!
Spartans are not proper humans so they are out of the definition and yes he left his fellow elites die but he thought that the Spartans were weak compared to him so he thought that other elites can kill them.
EpicMrWoofers Well what's a proper human then? Last i checked they were. You know the whole noble team? And even more so the Arbiter himself is killed by a "proper" human.
Adonai Cooper those are genetically augmented Spartans, most spartans are as strong or even stronger than Elites, however normal humans don't stand a chance hand-to-hand with Elites. plus those were minors; it'd be a bit more intense with anything higher than an Elite major (spec ops elites, Zealots, Ultras, etc)
Yes you are right ,but I was only referring to the to the arbiters lack of perception to see what the Spartans really were and that cost him his life and the live of all those elite minors, not to put you down or anything i was clarifying my point is all
Ahh, 2008 the good days when Halo 3 Xbox Live was at it's peak, and Halo Wars still had that brand new car smell while being played. Those in game cutscene animations and graphics were just great!
1:32 you know if elites are as strong as Spartans in full armor then that punch probably burst every organ in Forge's abdomen. Or at least crushed both his stomach and intestines.
Why the fuck did the elites have FUCKING SPEARS?! I know there religious but damn guys, that made no sense whatsoever. They uncloak when there like several feet away, charge at the Spartans who have ranged weapons, and fucking sucked with the things to begin with. Not to mention they could have at least cloak to get close and ambush them lol. I mean I know they did just just to make the Spartans look badass, but AT THE VERY LEAST GIVE THEM SOME DAMN GUNS
Well I see your point, but remember, when our regular troops would fight the same elites, our regular troops would still have been all defeated. The elites were full of their confidence of always beating our troops with few loses, where as this might have been this force of elites first encounter with Spartans.
The Elites are all about that death before dishonor and would rather rush into an enemy if they have the numerical advantage. It's kinda contradictory since they favor cloaking with backstabbing methods as well.
Emery Calame Adding on to what Vagon said, the pistols could be less powerful, but its also before the time that humans got shield tech from the covenant. So, they probably didn't have good enough rounds to pierce the Arbiter's shield. This fight was rigged.
i believe it was fairly easy to tackle the arbiter there. mainly since he's shorter and used all his strength and applied it to one point on the arbiters body. his stomach. notice right when her hit the arbiter the arbiters upper body sprang forward. it wasn't about how strong he was, just where he applied all his strength.
Bob Saget Even then, he is basically running into a brick wall. Doesn't matter where you put your force if what you're ramming into is heavier than a brick wall. Its like trying to break through a concrete wall of a building. No matter how much force you put into it, you can't knock it over. Especially considering literally minutes before, the arbiter held up against the damn nuke and didn't fall over. What makes a human the size of Forge so capable? They act like he is a spartan when he is not.
This cutscene pisses me off so much. Spartans are constantly hyped up as the biggest badasses in the universe, and this scene proves just how awesome they are. And yet for some reason, Master Chief, the star of the Halo universe, never does anything this cool. The most physically impressive thing he's ever done is a single backflip, and that was in Forward Unto Dawn. I love the series, but the biggest badass in the series should be more awesome than these guys whose names we probably didn't even learn.
They're actually on par with elite majors, which made this scene a little hard to watch since it's so inconsistent. The arbiter would have easily killed that forge guy, and even the spartans would not be able to take that many elites. The arbiter is usually the single most powerful elite in the covenant, there is no way a non spartan would be able to take one down, a team of spartans maybe. Otherwise the mc would be the only one who could take him.
It would be one thing if they established beforehand that these guys were somehow superbadasses, but yeah, the way they show it here it just comes out of nowhere
-Stealer-L1F3 Nah that's only the chief. The chief was genetically engineered by forerunners though, the other spartans are on par with elites. Read the books.
None of the SPARTANS are over Petty Officer*, meaning Forge actually either equals or outright outranks them. *Jerome might be a Chief Petty Officer, but I don't recall for certain.

Can we please have a Sangheili head count? People are complaining about how the beggining cinematic of Halo 5 is "too much like the avengers, Sangheili and SPARTAN's are supposed to be equals" bs that i want to know just how many Sangheili on average each of these SPARTAN's took out with ease.
€entipede These Spartans are II's who dont yet have that much war experiance, something most spartan iv have. And I call bull on that second point as well. Its no unheard off for spartans to rip through tanks and stuff like that with their bare hands, I've never heard any sangheili do anything of that level. They are a strong race, stronger than humans, there is no questioning that, but a spartan in a mjolnir is tougher that capitan america in an ironman suit.
Elites have flipped scorpions and wraiths with their bare hands,Spartans armor give them a strength boost even more so from there base strength, while elites armor doesn't,a spartan without their armor is no stronger then a elite, when they say they are equals they mean both being well trained with a equal set of armor and gadgets, say Thel'Vadam vs master chief for example, both of their armors give a strength boost and have equal tech levels, but eve to my surprise most believe thel would when because he's smarter more skilled and has a slight tech advantage.
€entipede These tank flipping Sangheili, are they from the multiplayer, where ballance and gameplay are an issue? Yes, their Mjolnirs make them stronger, but the armor is what they wear 99% of the time, its rare to not see a spartan in one of them during combat, so in a way we cant discard it. I agree though that without the armor a spartan and a sangheili warrior would be at the same streanght. From what I know though, Sangheili armor doesnt actually work as powered exo-suit, its just regular armor, which means that Sangheili dont enjoy the same boosts spartans do. Thel'Vadam is an exception to the rule, as perhaps the most skilled of his race. From what I know of him he was a martial genious since infancy, which would justify his equal standing to Chief, even though spartans probably come better equiped and agumented by armor, where as Thel'Vadam's armor (the Arbiter armor was inferior to modern Sangheili armor since its so old, so I'm not going to include it). As for the rest of his species... I dont think many Sangheili would be able to stand toe to toe with a spartan and live (sort of why spartans, especialy Chief, where known as "demons" to the Sangheili). But going back to my original point: Everyone seems to love to hate on the opening cinematic for Fireteam Osiris due their "superhero" feel to them. This video prooves that not only Fireteam Osiris has done such feats in a videogame (since in the books and comics the spartans become even more intimidating). Besides, if highly trained but not very experianced spartan II's can do it in Mjolnir IV armor, the first of its kind to be seen in action and which had no shields, thrusters or gadjets seen in the next gen armor, then i bet veteran soldiers retrained in to spartan IV's in next gen armor could pul off the same moves no problem... In the end, i feel its just a bunch of hate for 343 which i dont think it deserves.

Sorry, son, but Sgt. Johnson deserves that credit. Don't get me wrong. I like to imagine a bar somewhere in the Halo afterlife where Jorge, Kurt, Johnson and Forge are saluting the heroes still among the living.
@@thebighurt2495 well, the most Johnson did was punch a brute in the stomach and have a knee to the face, Forge litterally put the arbiter on his ass and disarmed him before being destroyed by one huge punch to the stomach
@@thebighurt2495 *laughs in Chips Dubbo*
"Like the rest of your race, weak.." weak? Didn't he just kick your ass for like 30 seconds before you got ONE punch in?
He was just playing with him.Ripa could have killed him with his bare hands if he wanted
I seriously love how the commander fights that elite and just fucking tackles him and disarms him.
He was actually stuck as a Sergeant because he attacked a superior for making advances on his daughter
Many years later, this scene is still epic af to me haha
Arbiter: Like the rest of your race, weak and undisciplined
MegaHaloFan: You got tackled by a marine, Forge!!! D:
I got very surprised he gotten beaten by a marine, NOT A SPARTAN, NOT AN ODST, BUT A MARINE. HAH WHO'S WE AK NOW YOU DISAPOITING ALIEN
Densel Moore Remember this is a different Arbiter, this is one of the shamed Arbiters. The current Arbiter is different from the rest.
GravityTaafe he got double shamed then lol
GravityTaafe Yeah, that one looked.....forceful
Densel Moore forge is a very battle experienced marine you must keep in mind
It's happening! Halo wars 2 announced today!
Shut up, we know ur joking.
+Ethan Paul Cataritas I know it's coming out, its just a little (a lot) early to get excited about it.
+@Alexjplays117 We ain't joking now 😂
you can play the beta in E 3
Wow, watching this on 2/21/17.
WHO'S READY FOR HW2?! ME!!!!
i love how the arbiter was like "like the rest of your kind weak and undisciplined" but he got tackled by forge and hell his "kind" is getting their ass kicked by forge's kind hahahahha
"Weak and undisciplined," says the Soldier toying with his enemy instead of killing him immediately and helping his men fight the SPARTANS.
Anon Anonymous lol nice analogy but I think he over thinking it
Anon Anonymous also ya he was standing on a slop when forge tackled him

forges father was an spartan that escapes from training so john forge its like an spartan by legacy from his father
It’s simple football technique, you get a low center of gravity and you hit the waist. A small person can take down a taller person easily if they go low.
This cinematography is proof that a great Halo movie can be made
Can’t believe this game is almost 10 years old and still has better cutscene graphics than 95% of games today.
That's what happens when you pre-render cutscenes
I mean, RTS models wouldn't exactly look good for this kind of thing
halo wars was amazing and this scene shows how good halo wars got in cinematics and back in those days halo wars was very impressive
"like the rest of your race: weak and undisciplined"
says the one who uses invisibility in a 1v1
bruh i can't believe that in 2009 that these were actual graphics in a game... Like damn, the animation and graphics are still better than alot of games today
R.I.P Sgt J Forge
Dark Sphere Productions He and Johnson would've loved each other 😂
The fact that the Spartans single handedly took down that entire force without getting a scratch shows what lore accurate Spartans can do
The Arbiter in the actual game would of been much more difficult to kill.
Especially when hes attacking me and I'm still building supply depots. :(
Brilliant how this holds up 15yrs later, you can tell the team who made this put a lot of effort into it

Atriox in infinite:
Write that down, write that down!
Personally I think this is one of, if not the best cinematic in all of Halo.
Arbiter: "My face will be the last thing your pathetic eyes ever see!"
Atriox: "I'm gonna write that one down..."
I still can't work out why that Lieutenant is taking orders from a Sergeant.
anonyman13 It's called tactical command. The Lieutenant is technical staff member, when it comes to field operations he would defer command to the person who has tactical command of the operation since he himself is not trained to run a combat mission. He's only there to arm the bomb.
Jordan Vandergragt and his billet as well....99.9% of the time billet gives you command over rank
anonyman13 I think the better question is...how the hell did he not hear the sword activating right behind him
anonyman13 Reason why he could command them because he was in there and not just that he said "Take care of the Elites, he's mine" the Spartans could obviously see that elites was coming with spears so they had no choice.
The Arbiter, the chosen one, best of the best.
Gets killed by standard issue knife
The Arbiter, the disgraced who could’ve broken the Covenant, given suicidal missions by the prophets to redeem himself, you mean.
He did die like a bitch, however.
Who needs a knife in an alien fight? The alien can not fight back if you disable his head
"I could just kill him right now, but I'm just going to keep tossing him around" logic.
Why is David Beckham fighting an alien ?
Sgt Forge looks like a bald David Backham
Jo dam
But he doesn't sound like a girl when he talks, Beckham does.
Good point
Spartans really shine in these halo wars games. 343 nerfed Spartans all to hell.
“alike the rest of your race, weak and undisciplined”
*next clip is his army being killed by 3 guys*
I always wondered if Sgt. Forge was a Spartan 1. Does anyone know this?
I think he might have been, I'd have to look at the Wiki. But he's badass enough to possibly be one
in fact his father is a spartan I, therefore he would be a Spartan 1.1 there he has his strength and support when he fights with the inquisitor that is known by a novel, I recommend a channel that talks about that subject is LULYEAH only that is in Spanish that is like a halo wiky is very complete in addition to giving the topics with a humorous touch.
by the way I use a translator I do not write well in English: v

Why are the most technologically advanced species fighting with fucking spears? What the fuck, halo.
+Misael Meraz because ... maybe ... uhm ...
Because they thought they could beat them? So they didn't want to waste any of the billions of guns?
Lasket
that would be the stupidest logic ever. The Covenant knew of the quality of the spartans, they wouldn't underestimate them like that.
Misael Meraz I couldn't think of anything better, sorry xD
It's all good, bruh
+Misael Meraz keep in mind the covenant are extremely religious and in that aspect they do stupid things. Also, these elites seem sub-par. not just spears, energy spears!
This nigga just tackled an 8 foot tall buff lizard
It's sad that Forge will never be a Spartan IV. He would have been great.
Forge is a Spartan-l
Nice little action scene. Everything made sense, clever moves. Not a shakycam mess like movies on the big screen.
Dat moment when Ripa vs Forge is more interesting than Chief vs Locke XD
That one Spartan throwing the arbiter like : Well then, nothing to see here just keep moving. XD
I love how the arbiter is talking all this shit about humans being weak and undisciplined meanwhile Spartans kicking the elites asses on the bridge
You make a fare point I never thought about it that way, I simply thought he was talking about humans as whole
Adonai Cooper
those are genetically augmented Spartans, most spartans are as strong or even stronger than Elites, however normal humans don't stand a chance hand-to-hand with Elites. plus those were minors; it'd be a bit more intense with anything higher than an Elite major (spec ops elites, Zealots, Ultras, etc)
Those in game cutscene animations and graphics were just great!
aren't the Elites supposed to have plasma enegry shields
The Grand Reaper ikr but weapon was shit
Where is the game logic here. all of these elites supposed to have shields
Those are low ranked elites. Elites can't get swords until they are a higher rank
Nico Escobar no those are honor guards
Dr. Eggman Look at their armor. It's of the minors
Love how the sergeant has an ace of spades tied to his should guard.
I hope halo wars 2 is this epic
Sergeant Forge: the Man who took down an Arbiter, and stared death in the face without blinking.

1:32 you know if elites are as strong as Spartans in full armor then that punch probably burst every organ in Forge's abdomen. Or at least crushed both his stomach and intestines.
Recuerdo que esto lo veia cuando era un niño.
K nostalgia :'3
I'll never get over how he says "let's go!" At 0:58
Why the fuck did the elites have FUCKING SPEARS?!
They may be a different type of honor guard rather than the crimson ones from Halo 2.
Doubt it but I appreciate the reply
Lol the Spartans were better with the spears than the elites.
1:34 this is what the strong dude in my gym told a group of asian dudes working out once. It was soo epic because it reminded me of this cutscene. :3
How is forge strong enough to tackle the arbiter so easily this cutscenes makes no sense the arbiter should have killed forge
Yeah... the arbiter is like 8 feet tall...
Emery Calame Then again, this is before halo 1, so the guns may have been different.
Emery Calame
Adding on to what Vagon said, the pistols could be less powerful, but its also before the time that humans got shield tech from the covenant.
Bob Saget
Even then, he is basically running into a brick wall.
My most favorite cutscene in Halo Wars
R.I.P Sgt Forge
elites rule
"Like the rest of your race, weak and undisciplined..."
Cuts to the Spartans casually wrecking all of the honor guard.
they said Osiris killed the covies too easy in the first cut scene but act like it didn't happen here.
I like how the Arbiter says "Like the rest of your race, weak and undisciplined" and then it cuts to Spartans absolutely rinsing Elites.
Andy B SPARTANs? Not able to wipe out Elites? What?
Did you hear that the Spartans were able to wipe out entire armies of Covenant, all alone?
-Stealer-L1F3 Nah that's only the chief. The chief was genetically engineered by forerunners though, the other spartans are on par with elites. Read the books.

😮 a normal human killing an arbiter is it equivalent of a grunt killing a Spartan😮

Those Spartans were more skilled, when they say they are equal the mean physically.
€entipede
These Spartans are II's who dont yet have that much war experiance, something most spartan iv have.
Even* win*
€entipede
These tank flipping Sangheili, are they from the multiplayer, where ballance and gameplay are an issue?
I like how you can feel the punch the Arbiter gets off, must feel like an anvil hitting your abdomen
