@juliejardin8370 Thts such a special story.😊 That jus warms my heart 😍...not too many people out there that u can trust to take such gud care of ur family like u do! ❤
I made this recipe yesterday and it is awesome! Thanks for sharing it! I had a grocery delivery, and the store was apparently out of sweetened condensed milk, so I looked online on how to make my own. It was simply 1/2 cup boiling water 1 cup nonfat dry milk 2/3 cup sugar 3 tablespoons melted butter Few drops of vanilla extract, mix all on low speed about a minute. I weighed out about 10 ounces of that to use in this and it worked great. It did taste just like sweetened condensed milk, maybe a little better. Anyway, I thought that might be useful information to anyone that doesn't have sweetened condensed milk on hand and needs some in a recipe.
@@denisecrowe55 I got on too these in the 80's, everyone loved them, also there are booklets out on many different types on cookie bars, using much of the same ingredients, all very good.

I’m fact, for many years, the recipe for these yummy and delicious “Magic Cookie Bars” was on the back of the Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk label. A little bit of trivia for y’all. Love you Leslie❤️
These are definitely a favorite at our house! I add butterscotch chips, too. I usually “test bake” a batch or two before Christmas, just for practice! 😂😂
I really enjoy hearing people like yourself talk about their great childhood memories and I envy them, because that is one thing that I definitely did not have was a good childhood no good memories of doing anything or cooking anything on any special occasion. And then us for girls were put in a girls orphanage me and my little sister stayed for nine years. I really didn’t have any good memories until the Lord sent me my husband in 1975 is when we met and married 1977 and today we are still married and still in love and still love the Lord and have three boys and two girls. I add butterscotch chips on top & pour the sweetened condensed milk on top. I also put nuts under coconut to keep nuts from falling off. Such a great recipe & easy. Great memories!
OH MY…I made the Magic Cookies years ago at Christmas time when my boys were growing up…they are the ABSOLUTE BEST!!! I made them again this last Christmas (2020) and my granddaughter and her family, and friends I gave them to LOVED them too. For anyone who has not tried them, they are a MUST TRY!!! 💕🌸💕
On the crockpot candy, I think I would pour it into a large rimmed baking sheet lined with wax or parchment paper and then cut into squares once cooled. Pull out of pan with the paper and it would make cutting so much easier
Dear Farming Pastor’s Wife, I have made these for EONS! I have a suggestion, if I can make it, it will finish these off with a shine that will make them even better! Here is my suggestion, pour the Sweetened Condensed Milk as the TOP LAYER instead of on the graham cracker crumbs (you can also substitute corn flake crumbs too!). What this will be is caramelize the top and the CM will also ooze into everything else as it bakes. OH MY GOODNESS, you’ll really like the final result! Give it a try next time you make these MAGIC BARS! Now, I’ve got to make them in the next couple of days!
Hey Leslie. This reminded me of a recipe I have. Went searching & found it. Recipe called Yummy Bars, where 3 chips are included in the mix with coconut & pecans. Yet no c. milk however. Recipe 2 c All Purpose Flour, 1 tsp. Baking soda, 1/2 c butter, 1 1/2 brown sugar, 1 egg, 1 c coconut, 1 c semisweet choc chips, 1 c butterscotch choc chips, 1 c chopped white chocolate (small pieces), 1 c fine chopped pecans, preheat oven 325. Mix first 2 ingredients, set aside, melt butter add sugar, egg, mix until crumbly. Add all other ingredients except pecans. Mix well. Press mixture onto a ridged cookie sheet that has been lined with parchment paper & use non stick spray. Press the pecan in on the top & can use foil or rolling pin to help pecans stick into batter mix. Bake 20 mins let cool completely before cutting into bars. You'll have plenty to share & shae them bc it's hard to not want another Yummy Bar. Given to me by a neighbor years ago. ♥️🙏🎄

Get some Bar Keepers Friend. It's amazing for cleaning pot and pans and glass and stainless steel!!! Love the recipe and will be making some as soon as my daughter brings the pecans home.
For your crock pot candy, I think I'd melt the white candy with nuts alone. Then add the chips after you mixed the nuts in good. That way you would have strips of flavor plus it would be more visually appealing. I also think I'd pour it into prepared cookie sheets and break it into pieces instead of mounds. Just a thought.
You can also use an SOS on the glass dishes, it cleans all of the dishes w/o scratching it. My mother cleaned all her casserole and baking ware i still have them and that's how I keep them completely clean and not one scratch!
Magic bars. 💕My mom made us kids these at Christmas. And I made them for my kids at Christmas. And I still make them at Christmas and put in tins for my kids and their husbands.
I have had many problems with my glass pans getting stained like that. I learned that the reason they get like that is because of using cooking spray in them. I also had that problem with my skillets, it burns on and does not come off. I have purchased a couple new skillets and one I do not use any spray in and it is perfect. The other I used spray in and it has a big brown stain where it hit the sides of the pan. Don't be ashamed of your pan, I know that it does that! I am going to make these for Christmas treats!

I was so worried about my glass pans and the bottoms of my cooking pots too. It was not until a close friend observed my struggle and recommended 2 options. The first was Bar Keepers Friend in the cleaning section, looks kinda like a can or AJAX, the second was a combination of vinegar and baking soda. What the Bar Keepers will not get off, the other should. ♥️

Pecan Pie Bars Ingredients 2 cups all purpose flour 1/4 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup cold butter 1 can sweetened condensed milk 2 tablespoons lemon juice 3 eggs 1 1/2-2 cups pecans Instructions Combine flour, butter and brown sugar with a pastry blender or 2 knives until crumbly. Press into the bottom of an ungreased 13 x 9 inch pan. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 10 minutes. Beat eggs well and add in condensed milk and lemon juice. Stir well, add in pecans to coat. When crust is done, pour pecan mixture over crust. Return to oven and bake for 25 minutes or until set. Let cool completely before cutting. Store in air tight container at room temperature. Chocolate Pecan Pie Bars Ingredients for the crust 2 cups all purpose flour 1/4 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed for the filling 2 eggs 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup light corn syrup 1 teaspoon flour 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 tablespoons butter, melted 1 full cup pecan halves 1 1/2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips Instructions Using a pastry blender, combine flour, brown sugar and cubed better until it resembles a cornmeal (this can also be done in a food processor.) Press crust mixture into an ungreased 9x13 pan. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 10 minutes. While crust is baking, beat together eggs, corn syrup, sugar, flour, salt, vanilla and melted butter. Stir in pecans. Remove crust from oven and spread chocolate chips evenly over warm crust. Spread filling over chocolate chips. Cover with foil and return to oven. Bake for 15 minutes, remove foil and bake for an additional 30 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool before serving. recipe source ChocolateChocolateandmore.com
@@sharonbreedlove3474so to make sure i understand, instead of pouring the milk when she does it, you do it on top, instead? Not two cans, one inside and one top?
I've seen recipes for this that call for pouring the condensed milk straight over the graham cracker crumbs, some that call for pouring it over the coconut before adding the chips and nuts, and some call for it poured over all...does it make a difference?
So I just made the crockpot recipe couldn't find just plain peanut butter chips and used the more expensive reese's which was miniature reese's cups and reese's pieces combined. They melted fine. However I might use a 20oz jar of peanut butter instead and see how that works. Thanks for the awesome recipe 😁
My family has been making these for the past 40 years and they are called 7 layer cookies. If you mix the graham cracker crumbs with the melted butter in a bowl and then press into the bottom of the pan they will cut easy. Layer chocolate chips, butterscotch chips coconut and then pecans and pour the eagle brand on top the whole cookie will stay together. I have made these in the past like you just did but the nuts will fall off. Just a suggestion.
It's now 2021 and this recipe came out about 52 years ago. I've been making it nearly every year for Thanksgiving since then. It had walnuts in the recipe rather than pecans. My husband isn't a chocolate fan so I sprinkle half the pan with butterscotch chips and chocolate on the remainder.

Press crust mixture into an ungreased 9x13 pan.

Less talk and more action will able you to give us more recipes! Happy holidays 🙋♀️😊🙋♀️
i pour the eagle brand ontop, they stick together better.
I’ve always done it that way too.
Me too🤭
I use chocolate chips and butterscotch chips, I also pour the milk on top. I've been making them for 60 some years.
@@sharonbreedlove3474so to make sure i understand, instead of pouring the milk when she does it, you do it on top, instead? Not two cans, one inside and one top?
Looks yummy. Must try!
Your receipt looks awesome 👌
My glass pans also. I have a hard time cleaning that part off. Shows that you use it.
Yummy 😋, I use Corse salt will take that built up cooking spray off easily.
I just found your channel, I am in love with your cabinets/color
Our house is older, it is my home place that was built in 1951
@TheFarmingPastorsWife
Mine are a similar color....their like a blue ish-gray.
We call them Magic Cookie Bars. The first time I made them was around 1984 with my niece and nephew! They are SOOO GOOD!
Try christmas trees is great make w marshmallow its so food..yes you are right family a great memories..thankyou ..
You are so Sweet!! Thank You so much!! 🙏❤️❤️🙏
Both look amazing
It's now 2021 and this recipe came out about 52 years ago. I've been making it nearly every year for Thanksgiving since then. It had walnuts in the recipe rather than pecans. My husband isn't a chocolate fan so I sprinkle half the pan with butterscotch chips and chocolate on the remainder.
Whoops the sweetened condensed milk was poured over the top with the original recipe.
Yummy 😊

Looks delicious. I just found your channel. Your videos are so wholesome, friendly, and helpful. By the way: You have an incredible smile. 😇
Thank you
Yes she does! Beauiful smile!!
Yes butterscotch chips is good in magic bars.
Utube just notified me of your channel today. I had to subscribe. Feels like I’m in the kitchen with you. I’m definitely gonna have to try your recipes. Your peanut butter balls are totally different than my recipe. Mine requires no cooking or baking of any kind. Wish we got to see the end result of those peanut butter balls. Looks like my crockpot is getting ready to be used. Lol 😂 Happy New Year to all
Welcome and thank you for subscribing
In ref to the Magic Bars in the 60’s they were called Hello Dollies. They are Yum-yummy party in your mouth deliciousness!🤤🤤🤤😋
We call them 7 Layer Squares
@jillipepper5353
I've bought 7-layer squares at my local grocery n OMG they're so yummy.
If these "magic bars" taste like those....im coins be in heaven for sure!
I've NVR heard of "magic bars" bt I'm definitely goina make these for sure now.
I’ve made this quick a bit. The only difference is I put semi sweet chocolate chips and butterscotch chips in it. After the coconut that’s when I pour my condensed milk on it.
Use baking soda to scrub off those marks on your 13x9 pan!
Thank you for this great recipe!!
If you used cornflakes would you crush them up?
