  • How to make dreamy, creamy, no bake buckeye peanut butter balls with just 4 simple ingredients. Easy small batch buckeye recipe, perfect for dessert!
    ↓↓↓↓↓ BUCKEYE BALLS RECIPE BELOW ↓↓↓↓↓
    Let's head into the kitchen and make a batch of easy chocolate peanut butter balls. This is one of my family's favorite Christmas candy recipes. I've been making this buckeye candy recipe every Christmas since I was a kid, and now you can make it too!
    PRINTABLE RECIPE: 🖨️ flouronmyfinge... 🖨️
    INGREDIENTS:
    3 tablespoons salted butter, softened
    1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
    1 cup powdered sugar
    10 ounces dark chocolate melting wafers
    INSTRUCTIONS:
    1. In a small mixing bowl, mix up the first three ingredients, including the softened butter, creamy peanut butter, and powdered sugar.
    2. Take about a tablespoonful of the peanut butter mixture and begin to roll it between your hands. Shape it into as round of a ball as you can and place it on a baking sheet lined with wax paper.
    3. Continue rolling until all of your peanut butter mixture has been rolled into peanut butter balls.
    4. Add toothpicks (for dipping) to each ball.
    5. Chill the peanut butter balls in the fridge or freezer for about half an hour.
    6. Melt the chocolate according to package directions.
    7. Once your chocolate is ready to go, you can remove the peanut butter balls from the freezer, and start dipping right away.
    8. As you partially dip each buckeye into the chocolate, using a toothpick or dipping tool, place it back on the wax paper lined cookie sheet.
    9. Chill the chocolate covered peanut butter balls in the fridge or freezer ’til set, probably about 15-20 minutes.
    10. Then remove all the toothpicks and cover up the holes with your finger (optional step).
    11. Store them in an airtight container or festive Christmas tin (lined with wax paper) in the fridge.

    We not only made these for holidays when I was growing up , we made them anytime we wanted candy. We lived way out in the country and buying store bought stuff just wasn't an option most of us time. I loved these frowning up.

    These little balls of peanut butter goodness are definitely a holiday staple in my house. I am not sure if it's elsewhere in the comments, but many years a good friend of mine gave me a tip that turns this into two great desserts. Use the leftover dipping chocolate to cover pretzels (we use the tiny twists) and whatever toasted nuts you like. Over the years, this has become such a well-loved part of the tradition that we often times melt extra chocolate, just so we can make sure we have enough for lots of pretzels and nuts.

    I was disappointed by the flavor of the Ghiradelli wafers. Yes, they’re tastier than almond bark, but I prefer the flavor of semisweet (or even dark) chocolate chips. I add a tablespoon of oil (something neutral flavored like sunflower) to a 10-12 oz bag of chips. There’s no need to use a separate toothpick for each buckeye. As someone who has made larger batches (3# p sugar, 2# pb, 1# butter), I chill the peanut butter balls and insert a toothpick into a ball, dip in chocolate, place on wax paper, pull out toothpick, and then repeat using the same toothpick for each pan.

    I know this is a year ago but I just found the video. I do the same with my butter in the microwave but I have found if you put it on defrost you have a lot longer time to catch it before you do that.

    I make these every year but about 5 x her recipe. I add vanilla and use almond bark to coat. We made about 1000 this year

    attempted to make these but my batter came out real creamy not crumbles, then just kept adding powder sugar til I got the consistency. Not sure how they came out. Hope everyone I give a gift basket to likes them.

    I have done milk, dark and tonight I'm making white chocolate. I also was thinking of trying to inject little dark chocolate in the center then dipped in chocolate

    Is there a chocolate I could use that I wouldn't have to refrigerate?

    • @MelLockcuff
      @MelLockcuff  3 года назад +1

      I don't know of any that would work. Sure, you could skip the refrigeration, but the chocolate would likely go soft.

      Yes, Michael, almond butter makes a great direct substitute for peanut butter.

    Can I substitute natural smooth peanut butter in this recipe?

    • @MelLockcuff
      @MelLockcuff  3 года назад

      Yes, you can, but don't use a super oily or greasy peanut butter. Some "natural" peanut butters can be quite oily, and this can cause problems with the chocolate not sticking as it should.
