even though there isn't a voice over the music isn't bad its nice and soft. spread the paint by putting a pane of glass over it and your mask will look 10x better.
ONE QUESTION PLSS !! IS NECESSARY TRANSPARENT SHEET FOR BLACK PADS ON TOP?? or I should use normal paper BOND? PLSSS .- Need help ! time ( 4:10 ) is necessary transparent????
I've successfully performed this technique about 25 times in the last year, but spreading the solder mask underneath the film is still really awkward, slow, and inconsistent. Do you have any tips to make the spreading easier? By the way, thanks for uploading this. It's been a great help to the students at my university.
I will give the silk screen print cloth a try. A local second hand store here has stacks and stacks of silk screen printing screens still in their frames. You suggestion is a great idea!
i dilute the paste with alcohol and use a airbrush.. You get a much thinner coating which will allow you to see the traces much better (which is MY preference) and it will dry faster as well...
With yours it is very good result.....i have notice that you strangle to cover all the pcb area with such a little solder mask. I did that without success because i put too much on it. How you can tell is enough ?
I use the laser printer method, use high gloss paper, then soak board in very warm water. the paper will fall away. then etch your board. work better than this method
+Francirius did you find the answer to this issue? I've had similar problems, where it seems to prefer sticking to the plastic sheet rather than the copper.
Nice tutorial, but that just seems like way too much hassle to go through for a single PCB after you're done etching. I think I'll stick with solderable lacquer.
the vias are part of the "Mask" or "Stop" Layer in whatever EDA you are using, which is used to generate the image for the clear film (transparencies work great)
You could use a sheet of transparency film, like the kind our teachers used before the internet was a thing (not sarcasm, just a statement of truth). They still sell those online and at Staples, Office Max, even at Walmart. I do not know if inkjets can be used for this technique as they use an ink, which may be compromised when exposed to the mask chemical (I honestly do not know), or if laser printers are used exclusively because toner is a thermoset plastic, which is very durable and depending on settings and quality of the toner, it is impermeable.

you can now buy soldermask film all you do is put it on top of your pcb and run through a standard laminator, and expose the positive image easier than using this method
Ok. That was excruciating to watch. Small drops around the center - Really!!? Why not a large(er) pool in the middle and work it outwards!!? That way you eliminate air pockets and is easier (As in takes less time, especially on-camera!) to work with. Use some type of jig and/or fixture to hold the PCB while you're working it so your fingers doesn't depress the area you JUST worked over! This was done several times over.
I've just made my first PCB with a solder mask and this video was very helpfull! Thank you :)
Good job
even though there isn't a voice over the music isn't bad its nice and soft.

The PCB is really beautiful, I have to say perfect JOB bro...
This music rips! I love it
Very cool, and easy-to-follow. And the music is great.
Sweet! Would love to try this
Why not just use the etch photoresist and laminate it on?
ONE QUESTION PLSS !! IS NECESSARY TRANSPARENT SHEET FOR BLACK PADS ON TOP?? or I should use normal paper BOND? PLSSS .- Need help ! time ( 4:10 ) is necessary transparent????
it's used to block the sunlight or UV rays, so u might get away by putting a black colored paper to the pads.
Very cool music! Who's playing?
+Jonas Karud i liked the music too
Yeah me too... :D
I love it too! It's both relaxing and exciting and fun!
Really cool, it reminds me soundtracks of the old Amiga's games.

What kind of transparent film do you use? Of all the times I've tried the paint dries to film and liquid paint stays on pcb pads.
i dilute the paste with alcohol and use a airbrush.. You get a much thinner coating which will allow you to see the traces much better (which is MY preference) and it will dry faster as well...
Your soldermask is beautiful and you should feel beautiful.
It was so easy to learn this one.
Thank you for sharing this video.
You know you can get a nozzle for your syringe and use a little brush right?
Gotta admit that looks really good though
With yours it is very good result.....i have notice that you strangle to cover all the pcb area with such a little solder mask. I did that without success because i put too much on it. How you can tell is enough ?
What did you use to wipe down the uncured paint with?
but you make the pcb with the dry film, you canot use the dry film for the solder resist also?
Thank you so much for putting effort on this.
I like the background music :P
thanks for this tutorial, it worked well for me
Is this uv curable stuff the same used for silk screen printing?
Can I use permanent marker for the pads to cover it
Grieta tutorial, thanks for share! What step is first uv mask or drilling?
Hi, I have little troubles with this soldermask.
On big areas where there is no copper(exposed fr4) that soldermask peels of, why?
I use the laser printer method, use high gloss paper, then soak board in very warm water. the paper will fall away. then etch your board. work better than this method
+bill kabatoff Better even than your Mom \o/
+Nerin18 what is the purpose of your comment. What does my mother have to do with mother boards.
+Arek R. I had the same problem, you just need to expose it more. And try to peel it from the side that has more copper on
Thanks
Perfect! Thanks a lot! 😁👍🏼
It looks like you go straight to exposing the mask after applying it. Do you need to let it dry before exposing?
Hi, the UV exposure is the reason that the mask actually dries, so you don't need to let it dry before exposing.
Some masks need pre-drying at 90°C, but the one he used does not need that
What do you use glue for bonding photomasks?
Ive tried this way...but the paint got sticked to the transparent sheet...is b3cause the paint its not dry yet?
+Francirius did you find the answer to this issue? I've had similar problems, where it seems to prefer sticking to the plastic sheet rather than the copper.
+andy parry recently i change the type of transparent film and it worked better...i think its a thing of find the right one. Greetings
Good video. Pls how can I print the photoplot.
Nice tutorial, but that just seems like way too much hassle to go through for a single PCB after you're done etching. I think I'll stick with solderable lacquer.
boa tarde amigo imprimir papel transparente impressora tinta ou laser ??

Can one use this for etching too?
any simpel way to do this?. we use spray fo this
How would you remove the soldermask in the vias?
the vias are part of the "Mask" or "Stop" Layer in whatever EDA you are using, which is used to generate the image for the clear film (transparencies work great)
I'm using an UV light, how long should I expose the paint? I've heard people talking about 40 minutes but I think that might be too much.
many pcb manufactory use our xjh brand expose machine, just about 10 minutes.
how is the solder mask printed on the transparent sheet ? what sheet is that ?
You could use a sheet of transparency film, like the kind our teachers used before the internet was a thing (not sarcasm, just a statement of truth). thanks, its really simple

Very good Thank you very much

the music is cool ohhh there was also a video,i did not noticed it :P
I just came for the music.
Good work
Beautiful.
Dont use glue to layer the two OH-papers. just use tape like wtf.
awesome!
WTF Through the fabric organza would have been better !!!
This music.. woah.
Nice video.
thanks
Thanks.
Keep it up
Nice
Parabéns!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏👏👏👏👏👏
Adhesive solder mask film is FAR easier than this.
No es cosa, mejor encargar a las grandes empresas dedicadas, te sale mucho mas barato y no hay color nunca mejor dicho
Fake he showed ordered pcb. Home made3
Credo... esperava mais.
