    Excellent from start to finish.
    You showed more information, technique and quality in 6 minutes than I have been able to see in 6 hours elsewhere.
    The video quality was superior to many others too.
    Thank you.

    Did I just see what I think I saw? First, cutting the traces with absolutely no burr raised in the copper; a notorious material to machine. Then, milling the solder mask so precisely that the copper underneath appears unblemished. This is pure magic! I’m going to have to get me some of those cutters. Magnificent video!

      This would work to cure the UV solder mask as it outputs UV light if you are unable to leave it outside to cure.

      It is little bit pricy, but when I compare this video and some other cheaper Chinese CNC that I have, the end result is just awesome, I still can't believe that this is done on CNC. It makes me think again to try this one :)

    • @cristian-bull
      @cristian-bull 7 лет назад

      Actually, if you compare it with more expensive machines, It doesn't look bad at all.
      Not expensive, costy I would say.
      Can't convince my boss to get it >,> I'll have to get by with a cheap one.

    • @VladaNish
      @VladaNish 7 лет назад

      I would think twice if you plan to use cheaper one for PCBs, it won't be that precise...maybe to take a look at something like Voltera One

    • @cristian-bull
      @cristian-bull 7 лет назад +1

      We are not the kind who think things too much.
      After a few hours, we are already buying one :v
      We don't need it to be that precise, we just need to improve and speed up our prototyping.
      We liked the Voltera though, thanks for letting me know.

    • @VladaNish
      @VladaNish 7 лет назад

      I wanted the same few month ago, and ended up buying small CNC for that, but it turns out it was useless, I was getting much better and faster results with simple photoresist dry film. This CNC looks very precise, but lack of automatic z-axis sensor can be pain in the but :)

    what about via holes in double sided PCB

    • @EdwinFairchild
      @EdwinFairchild 7 лет назад +3

      you can buy rivets on ebay and stick them in the via holes to make the connection from one side to the other that is what i have done in the past with homemade double sided boards

    • @cheaterman49
      @cheaterman49 7 лет назад

      I was wondering if the tinning step took care of that, I suppose not.

    • @ExarchNZ
      @ExarchNZ 7 лет назад +4

      The tinning "sticks" to the exposed copper, so there is not any copper inside the holes only around them, so the tinning does not stay in the holes.

    Hi, great video. How to realign the PCB to etch the solder mask? Tks

  • @Rainbow_Oracle
    @Rainbow_Oracle 5 лет назад +7

    So in a nutshell,
    Step 1: Design the PCB
    Step 2: Mill out the traces (from a blank, copper-laminated board)
    Step 3: Apply solder mask (to protect the exposed traces)
    Step 4: mill the solder mask off the contact pads (to allow you to solder components onto their traces)
    step 5: Drill any necessary holes and cut out the PCB
    Step 6: Protect the now-exposed copper contact pads from corrosion with tinning solution
    PCB DONE

  • @jeanyves5380
    @jeanyves5380 2 года назад

    Hi and thank's for your video. Too easy because simple side.
    But your milling and drilling methods seams to be well improved and reliable.
    I'm beginning the tasks of "electroplating through holes" at home.
    With my CNC i'm just drilling holes as a first operation.
    I etch with the paint burning method using a laser.

    • @blrcnc9848

      There are other softwares for that like Autoleveller, PCB Probe and OpenCNCPilot.

    • @molomono9795
      @molomono9795 7 лет назад

      I think this machine milled it's own bedding which ensures the gantry and bedding are aligned very well.
      As long as you lock your pcbs down correctly it should allow you to skip auto levelling. However if you dont' want to mill a bed (which is pretty easy).
      For a software solution:
      You can autolevel in the Gcode itself (wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?PCB_Milling_And_Drilling_With_Cheap_And_Simple_Height-Probing)
      It looks a little odd to use but basically, the steps consist of downloading the github files and running a python script. The generated G-code does height probing before cutting, it gives perfect results every time.
