What about basic desktop speakers would i have to buy xlr adapters?..(hope im making sense)
Do your desktop speakers feature XLR connectivity? Scarlett features 1/4" jack outputs located on the rear panel that are primarily designed for connecting powered studio monitors or for connecting to a powered amplifier. In theory, you could also connect smaller desktop speakers but may need cables or an adapter to connect to the 1/4" outputs.
I just bought Klipsch R-41M speakers but im having trouble figuring out how to connect that to my amp. Im not sure what wires to use since mines doesnt require the same yours did. I have to strip a wire cable & use banana clips but after that im not sure what to do next. To me, im confused on which input & output endings I need to connect my two components.
What kind of audio input cables are on your amp? If you are using a Scarlett solo, you will need cables that go from 1/4 inch TRS cables to whatever the input of your amplifier is. This could be RCA, TRS, XLR etc... but if you send us the model of your amp we can find the cable you need.
@@FocusriteHelp isnt the scarlett solo the amp? i believed thats what i connect to my speakers using somekind of wire. which im not sure what connects to my Klipsch R-41M speakers. this is all new & trying to youtube all the solutions arent working the way i understood
Scarlett's main outputs are designed to be connected directly to powered, active monitors. The Klipsch R-41M appear to be passive speakers which would require the use of an additional, separate amplifier.
@@FocusriteHelp Sorry for piggybacking on this comment, but I have Klipsch R-15PM speakers, and I'm not sure how to connect my new Scarlett Solo to them. They come in pairs, so only the right speaker has input options. Anyway... here are the specs:
The R-15PM powered speaker monitors (...). Each monitor includes a 1" aluminum diaphragm compression driver mated to 90° x 90° square Tractrix Horn and 5.25" copper spun magnetically shielded IMG woofer. Features:
1 x pair of RCA phono level inputs with switch for Phono/Line input versatility (Phono Pre-amp with ground screw terminal)
1 x USB digital audio from a PC or Mac single RCA line level output for connection to sub.
1 x Digital optical
1 x 3.5mm mini jack line level
Bluetooth wireless technology
Full featured IR remote
EDIT: Would my best option be to get RCA Phono to 6,3 mm Jack adapter cables?
@@niraacity The Scarlett is primarily a DAC (digital to analog converter) and an ADC (analog to digital converter). It does have a small headphone amplifier on the front panel, but you should not connect passive speakers to that or you will damage the Scarlett. The DAC function of the Scarlett is to take the digital audio output from your computer and output it at "Line Level" (not amplified). The line level outputs on the back need to be sent to an amplifier before they can be heard on passive speakers. Since it seems like you are new to audio gear I can highly reccomend the Fosi audio desktop amps for something that costs less than $100. In that case you would use 1/4" to RCA cables from the Scarlett outputs to the amp, and then plain speaker wire from the amp to the speaker, optionally with banana plugs. You can also always unscrew and screw down the posts if you dont have any banana plugs.
Is it possible to connect both speakers and headphone maybe switching between them?
For Scarlett Solo 3rd generation there is one monitor Control that affects both the headphone and the monitor outputs. To adjust separately we recommend using the onboard controls for your monitors or unplugging your headphones when not in use.
Tysm!!@@FocusriteHelp
so I need the 2i2 to connect both headphones and monitors and to be able to switch between them? I currently have the solo and have my monitors and headphones plugged in and they both play the audio and I can not switch between them.
Scarlett Solo 3rd generation only features one monitor knob which controls both the headphone output and the line outputs. For Solo 3rd generation we recommend using the monitor controls onboard your speakers for further adjusting, or turning them off when not in use.
I want to buy the Solo to drive my headphones. I have a pair of pc speakers that connects to the computer through a single cable and jack, the same kind used by the headphones.
Instead of having the speakers connected to the rear of the pc, can I attach them to the front panel headphones port of the Scarlett when I'm not using the headphones?
It's great to hear that you're interested in working with Scarlett! Yes, in theory that's certainly possible. Whilst the headphone output is intended for use with headphones, small, connected PC speakers will likely work too.

Thanks do we need amplifiers in between
If you are connecting the line outputs to active speakers, then you can connect straight with no amp. If you are using passive speakers, you will need an amplifier.
@@FocusriteHelp thank you so much
Hi :) I've tried to connect my focusrite gen 3 to my Edifier (S350DB - 2.1 HiFi bluetooth aptX) speakerset, using the correct cables as far as I know but it isn't working for some reason. Is it possible to connect my focusrite to these particular speakers? Thanks in advance!
Hi, apologies for the delay in response. Scarlett devices cannot connect via Bluetooth, so for this device your best bet would be to connect via the RCA input. You would likely need a 1/4 inch to RCA cable to connect to the RCA inputs of the Edifier. Such as this:
www.amazon.com/TISINO-Stereo-Audio-Interconnect-Cable/dp/B083R5YRHX/ref=asc_df_B083R5YRHX/?tag=&linkCode=df0&hvadid=416875525560&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7733942400712924775&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9003488&hvtargid=pla-1090113584392&mcid=2e821ee932513f5897cb7c44432270a7&ref=&adgrpid=100759324264&gclid=CjwKCAjw7-SvBhB6EiwAwYdCARA5XdFz39bZozGrqnd_K6RnQABztTJvN5RhkbA0VoPoG8cWHRqmZxoCi8cQAvD_BwE&th=1
You would then want to configure your speaker to the "Aux" setting, as shown in page 7 of the user guide, which I've linked here:
usa-oss.edifier.com/Uploads/meauls/2021/02/04/202102041009271612404567319480.pdf
Please let us know if this helps or if we can answer additional questions.
@@FocusriteHelp This worked, thanks so much for your help!! ☺️ For anyone else with the same speakers: it turned out I needed to switch to the aux setting on my speaker remote before plugging the cable into the focusrite, so you need to follow the steps in the same order as they're shown in the edifier manual.
how can i connect my edifier mr4 to focusrite gen 3 ?
Great question. We'd generally suggest the use of balanced connections, where available. You should find that you can connect using two 1/4" TRS jack cables, connecting the left and right, line outputs from your Scarlett to the balanced left and right TRS inputs provided on your monitor speakers.
can i output from the subwoofer with an RCA to the bookshelfs eventhough the subs are connected via balanced cables (xlr) from the audio interface ?
If your Subwoofer has audio outputs via RCA, then this should work.
Hi, How to connect sorrund speakers like 5.1?
Afraid that isn't possible if working with Scarlett Solo as a 5.1 configuration will generally require an audio interface with at least 6 independent line outputs, to feed the 5 monitor speakers and the sub. If that's something that you require, you may want to consider a larger Scarlett audio interface, such as Scarlett 18i20.
@@FocusriteHelp,
Thanks a lot 🙂
I need active speakers for this correct ?
That's right. The outputs are designed to be connected directly to active monitor speakers or to an amp that is connected to passive speakers.
WHAT SPEAKERS SHOULD I BUY??????
Scarlett Solo can send signal to any powered speakers with line-level inputs. Can you use wireless/ bluetooth headphones with these? If so, how?
No, generally speaking wireless headphones aren't compatible with audio interfaces like Scarlett. Scarlett doesn't feature Bluetooth or wireless connectivity of any kind. Headphones or a wireless headphones receiver will need to be physically connected to the Scarlett headphone output.
@@FocusriteHelp okay mate thanks for the heads up! Good thing I didn’t spend 80 quid on some new wireless headphones :)
God sake. Now i gotta buy trs cables
