JK is just an all around good German dude. isn’t he? Efficient and precise when explaining things. One of the true go to professors of audio at You Tube University. Thanks Julian!
Agreed. He's actually a great representation in human form of what quality German Engineering looks & acts like; Simple yet thorough/quality, precise & ACCURATE...all while keeping ego out of the equation. Results speak for themselves. Taught me & no doubt many more A LOT without coloring or obstructing the process with any & all of the ultra-annoying, way too common wasteful fluff & opinion RUclips is SO over-loaded with. LOL
Just stating as I see and have experienced it watching & learning from his videos. Quite gratefully at that I will add:)
Invaluable information about the TS/TRS cabling and balanced/unbalanced. Great concise video Julian
Extremely useful - as always. It's so nice you take the time to explain the topics in detail and don't gloss over basics. I've worked with music (as a hobbyist) for 20 years and I find that there are so many basics that you never take the time to set up correctly. I found that my right monitor had different EQ and volume setting and the tip about adjusting the volume was a game changer. Now most of the amplification comes from my audio interface, and not the speakers - which has audibly reduced the noise. So good!
I got a couple of speakers, and I had these questions... I was so relieved to see that you made a video about this and it did not disappoint! All clear now.
So great full for this well done tutorial. You're the perfect german engineering: precise, simple and reliable. Thanks to you i was able to make mines works. No frustrations, just results. Greatings from Paris of your newest Brazilian fan ;)
Thank you for the information... you are very amazing, and a pleasure to listen to! You are simply an amazing professor!! =)
Thanks for the helpful tips. You're are doing a great service to us especially the beginners. Can't wait for my first set up to arrive.
Great, simple yet thorough & precise ACCURATE info... as I've grown to learn is what Julian provides in every one of his videos. He's become my go-to RUclips Pro-Audio Home Studio teacher/professor. Thank you so much for sharing with all of us, Julian! Sincerely.
Awesome video. The intricate details about the balanced and unbalanced cables is noteworthy. 👍👍

Love the informative videos. Easy in, easy out. Keep it up! Thank you.
Now this is one of my favorite channel about audio things, thanks dude.
Julian you are one of the only fully objective channels on youtube
Superb work, keep it up, but two suggestions;
01. A frequency response graph of the interfaces
02. An phase canceled, original input audio vs preamps input, to see if the system does change the audio in other ways other than frequamcy and resonance.
Re-upload because of an error in the previous version.
It would be nice one in which you explain the different EQ settings on the back of monitors and how to adjust them. Great video Julian!
Thank you for the correction Julian.
@@JoeJacksonJr Thank you for pointing it out :)

Very nice "no bullshit" video. German precision. Thanks man.
Great work
Good morning. Loved watching your video but being of weak knowledge in this subject I couldn't fully understand. It was very informative for me to hear you describe how to set up the volume levels on the monitors and interface. I would like to know whether this will affect the volume of my recording because I have a very low voice and have to set up the gain levels of the input quite high to have a 'decent' recording that has to be given effects for pushing up the volume further. In case you have any other video describing how to set the gain of the input source in relation to the monitoring volumes, I'd be glad to watch them. Thanks for this video that will help me do better recording:). Have a nice day.
Regards
Dr. Somanna
very helpful, thank you friend
Great info. Thank you.
Thank you so much for this usefull video.

Using Bias FX 2 and everything sounded like garbage. At wit's end and decided to turn to RUclips for help. I come across this and he's using the same Interface and same exact monitors. What are the odds? now everything sounds great :) thank you for sharing :)

Hello Julian,
Can you please do a review of a Focusrite Clarett USB interface? I'd like to hear your opinion on it
This really helps 👍
Great video.
thank you, dear!
love this thank you
good and helpful video :D i'm in the process of purchasing an audio interface for recording voice overs and i wondered which cables to buy for my small studio monitors, which i already have (they're running atm with a 3,5 mm to 2x6,35 mm cable directly from my mainboard soundcard). This prevented me from buying the TS cables and maybe having some problems setting everything up (maybe shorting the outputs).
Thank you thank you thank you. And I thought this would teach me nothing. I was using unbalanced trs to xlr and I didn’t know it! No more hums I hope!
Molto, molto bravo amico. Thank you very much, mate.
Very informative video, thanks for the effort you put into making it Julian! I'm new to using specialized audio equipment, and was hoping you could help me solve an issue I have regardoing connecting my bose companion 20 speakers to a motu m2 interface. The companion 20 have only one 3.5mm input on the speakers, and since I want to be able to connect my headphones to the interface at the same time, I wanted to use either of the outputs at the back to connect the speakers. Which would be the better choice in your opinion? After some research I've found that I could use either a 3.5mm male to dual male RCA cable, or a 3.5mm male to dual TS mono cable. I believe RCA is stereo but unbalanced and the TRS 1/4" outputs for the m2 are balanced, and I was not sure about using unbalanced mono TS cables here either. I would really appreciate your expertise in this matter, thank you in advance!
Excellent
Thanks bro 💯🤞🏾💪🏾
Very helpful, thank you a lot for the Deutsche Qualität
Would you consider reviewing the Mackie Big Knob Studio or Studio+ Interface?? Great tutorial on a basic setup by the way.
Hell yea.. Liked. Subbed. Everything in one video. What else can I ask for.
Thank you for this video. May I ask what audio recording software do you use?
Thanks good look
thank u my g
If i want to use it with my head phones connected on the UM2 for example, i can monitoring the volume of everything its going on windows 10 with the NoB "output" ?
Very nice video and very well explained.
I just bought a pair of krk monitors, do i need an interface or i can ise a normal dac like the ifi zen2? I don't use microfons or other instruments.
I wil really appreciate your advice.
What about the procedure of measuring the db with an SPL meter when listening to a -20db pink noise at different frequencies?
thanku so much brother foe information, god bless uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
Hi, great video. Quick question if I use a DJ mixer and use only one studio monitor in order for it to record in stereo do i need to connect both inputs from mixer to interface or is it ok just to use one? Thanks
Thanks!
Awesome video! I was just wondering, I have pair of EDIFIER R1700BT bookshelf speakers, these speakers are active monitors and only have 2 RCA outs. Will it be safe for me to plug these active speakers into the back of the RCA output on my Motu M2? I'm kinda worried about damaging any components.
Great vid, any chance you could let me know what monitor stands are in the video please?
