    Thank you sir! I struggled so much with this today. Ended up leaving the damn clip off because I tried to put it on with the line in. Tried it the other way too with much force and effort but I didn't know there was a notch to align. Will try again in the morning when my back is rested. That straight pin is a sob. Hypothetically... if I did this slave cylinder job right and it fixed my clutch from grinding into first at a stop, but soon after the problem happened again, would I be changing the master cylinder next.

    • @kyleguerrette9011
      @kyleguerrette9011  3 года назад

      Unfortunately for you, your problem may lie with the 1st gear itself, as its the most used, the synchro wears out and the teeth have difficuly ligning up. When I have this problem, I slide it into second, then first. You could also try aligning the shift tower on the trans and the shifter in the car.

    • @KrakPott88
      @KrakPott88 3 года назад

      @@kyleguerrette9011 I also can not shift into reverse without grinding. Would you happen to know if first and reverse use the same syncro in a 1.8 5 speed beetle? It seems odd to me that pumping the peddal more helps reduce the grinding chance. After a clutch bleed it operates great, but only for 5 shifts or so.

No one has ever done a video but this piece of rubber is $30 and can not be bought at any parts stores!!!! There is a tube that connects the Brake Fluid Resevoir to the Clutch Master Cylinder, but I seem to have lost the securing clamp/rubber banding. Do you know where I can acquire that clamp? Thanks. • @kyleguerrette9011
      @kyleguerrette9011  4 года назад

      If it's a tight fit, you shouldn't need it, that is not under pressure. Mine are not clamped on either end and I do not have leaks. If you did want clamps, I assume you can use a small hose clamp or a fuel line clamp like those from subarus. I am not sure of the size.

    Can I remove clutch master cylinder from 05 jetta without removing the pedal itself? My nephews car and I'm trying to help. He just lost pedal with no other symptoms. Sticks to floor. I've tried bleeding slave and it will. But pedal keeps going to floor. I noticed when he'd press clutch pedal, fluid was leaking from brake/clutch reservoir cap/lid. I replaced cap lid with a good one that is sealing. I've used my mighty vac at the slave bleeder and got all air out and just fluid going into mighty vac cup. Tightened bleeder and filled reservoir up put cap lid back on and still going to floor and sticking. I've felt carpet under clutch master cylinder and it was completely dry. I've removed slave cylinder and it was dry on piston side. So I don't see anything leaking fluid other then cap that was changed. Could the seal in either master or slave be not leaking fluid but sucking air into the system? I'm old school and no nothing about vw other then older 60s and 70s air cooled vdubs. Do you have any suggestions? Or let me know about pedal having to be removed with master. Thank you in advance!!!

      @@st.josephtree8639 The nipple that goes into the Slave cylinder has one. However many times its the line itself that leaks at the nipple versus the o-ring actually failing, if your line can turn at the nipple then it's probably where the leak is at least that's where mine was.
