- It's almost a new year, which means NEW planner babes will be joining the planner community! Any time new planners start, we have lots of new people join us. I wanted to make this video to share the "happy planner lingo" that you might hear as a newbie! Did I miss some lingo that a newbie should know? Include it in the comments below!

Newbie everything....subscriber, planner, et. al... Boy! Was this right on time! I am a 60yo man and so I keep my passion for the Happy Planner on the DL. LOL!!! But thank you for this as it answered a lot of my questions. The only short coming that it has from my perception is no inserts for addresses and the like. Since I have retired I haven't had a planner and so the overwhelming crush of information caught me by surprise! I never knew that day planners had become such a thing! I am a very visual person and so this planner with all of its stickers really speaks to me, but my grown kids fail to see the attraction! No matter! Because nowadays I AM DOING WHAT MAKES MY SOUL HAPPY!!!! This is my new mantra! Thanks again, Heather!

I'm 68, and 2020 will be my first year with a Happy Planner! In the past it's been a free random calendar and a yellow legal pad☺. I 'm excited to get creative, more productive, and work with a beautiful planner. I chose "Homebody." Happy planning everyone
Also a noob everything, 70yo male... Been on a 2 yr quest to find a planner that fits my needs. Who knew that there was so much. My wife is a card maker, who teaches locally. I am the techie. I work on many different hardware platforms, but my biggest difficulty was trying to get a planner that worked the same way across all platforms. The solution, of course, is to go back to paper. Like creaminthecoffee I am visual, so this has been a major eye-opener, thanks for the great videos.
This makes me so happy! I am 23 and new to happy planning. I have a chronic illness that leaves me mostly housebound but I love planning! It makes me happy

Another thing for newbies is DIYing . Which is simply Doing It Yourself. From making your own dashboard to making your own planner!

Where does that word come from/ has its origin? Hard to understand for a Dutch girl. I “frankenplanned” before i knew it was a thing......
@@almaguijt354 The name comes from the monster Frankenstein in a novel from the 1900s.
What is the difference in Frankenplanner and Transformer Planner? I watched another video that made it sound like two different types but when I Google it appears to be used interchangeably. #HappyPlannerNewbie

Thank you for going through the lingo! I just bought my first Classic Happy Planner and am looking forward to using it for budgeting and work, mostly. This video helped a lot to figure out the stuff I should buy to customize mine.
Thank you so much for doing this! Seeing this BEFORE I went on my very first planner binge, ignorantly assuming I knew what I was doing, lol, I probably wouldn't have bought half of what I did. The planner cover I fell in love with turned out to be a 12 month dashboard layout, which I didn't realize until I excitedly sat down with all my goodies and freaked..."where are my daily boxes?" So, live, learn, and watch you!

This is a great video for planner newbies. I know a lot of people who use big planners for memory keeping.
You can also call the "mom dashboard layout " the " weekly dashboard layout " (it's a little more preferable for us non-moms 😁)
I'm a non mom as well, but was just sharing the name of what most people in the community call it ;-)

I just started I have the Big Happy Planner and the mini one plus some other Planners I have a big sticker collection already it’s very addicting I’m hooked for sure I just bought the paper cutter my next thing I want to buy is the hole puncher. I’m also addicted to watching lots of different Planners on You Tube and getting some awesome ideas from them. I was very happy to come across your channel I already subscribe and I’m ready to follow you too .

This is a video to watch from time to time. Bookmark it because you may have questions later -- when you may not be a newbie. I found the Memory Planner (undated) mentioned here, which is a great idea for a BABY BOOK. Hope this helps someone else like it has helped me. No baby coming yet, but I will keep my "friends" here posted when it happens.

Is there a specific planner or expansions pack (?) meant for readers? With pages for TBRs, page trackers, a place to track new releases, etc.? I'm sure I can figure out an alternative, but if there's one already meant for that, that would be good for me.

Haha thank you for this. I just got my first Classic Happy Planner and everything is so foreign, it has its own language. I'm slowly getting the hang of it then I see someone throw a change up and I'm back at square one! Thanks for this video!

Stephanie Gutierrez sure! I’d be glad to help! I’ve never used the snap-in cover, but I love my deluxe cover. The deluxe cover helps with keeping your planner nice, plus it has a pen holder and pockets for stickers and other stuff. If you’re taking your planner places, I’d suggest getting the deluxe cover. Hope that helps!

New planner babe here... My first HP. I bought a deluxe cover and did exactly that, tried to tuck my front cover too. Took me about 2 seconds to correct that booboo!

Very new at the Happy Planner and have so many questions but I think I'll watch some more videos and most of those will be answered. I do have one specific one, though...what the heck are the discs for? Thanks for all you do!

Hey Heather, I have a question. Do you know if the happy planner will eventually come out with a medical expansion pack? For like nurses or care givers? Just thought I would ask since they have come out with different expansion packs.

That would be great for nurses, Dr, care givers, and more in medical field but also for ones who haven't lots of Drs and therapy appts. And such along that line. Even ones for people who run there parents or family members life with appts, therapy,meds, supplies like medical equipment and needs. I can say so much more but it would be awesome for at least an extension packet for many of us!! Ok MAMBI TEAMS/HAPPY PLANNER TEAMS/SQUAD come help us all that are in need!?!?
Yes! I have re-done pages for health care.. I'm a social worker.. I needed to track things and have had to create my own!
Will a planner with the expansion rings fit in the deluxe cover?
I've been using HP for years now, and I even worked at Michaels....and I NEVER connected Mambi with Me & My Big Ideas...
Do the metal discs weigh more than the plastic? Sounds like a dumb question but if someone has their planner packed out it could get pretty heavy to carry.

How can I get the rest of the year for my classic planner? I bought a student planner by mistake and I loved it anyway and I love the cover, can I just but the months for the rest of the year and paper

New planner Babes just remember 7 discs is a mini....9 discs is a Classic...11 discs is a BIG.....such a worthy thing to know!!!!

YES! This is super important. I see people comment on photos all the time and say "What size planner is this???".... count the discs, and then you know! ;-)
@@kellofaplan i made very expensive mistakes not knowing this....but now they came out with the Happy Notes so that gave me some ideas to use my mistakes....lol

I would love a health extension pack. Not fitness...overall health. Is there something like that available?
I have one called "Wellness." I use it more for mental health and general checking in with myself, but it has spots for exercise tracking. It's undated and pretty basic, so you can really make it work for yourself. :) I got it in Big size from Hobby Lobby. Hope this helps!

Hi... there are specific stickers, but you can use other stickers, as well... watch videos using the search term "Happy Plannerstickers" and similar to learn more (if you haven't, already)...

Hey, Heather! I'm new to planning and I can't wait to get started! I was watching another video and the young lady mentioned the "PGW Community". What is that? I couldn't figure out the acronym.
PGW stands for "Planners Gone Wild". There is a Facebook group for them and they are also the group that put on the big GO WILD conference each spring! It is a group of women who all use a variety of planners- not just Happy Planners!

Does the snap in hard cover come with the pencil loop holder already attached or was that a part of the planner dashboard?
Also, do the planner rings match measurements with a normal three hole punch?
Tiara Stokes the hole punches are totally different to allow the pages to be removed. They sell a specific punch for Happy Planners. If you use a coupon at Michael’s or Jo-Ann’s, if you’re in the US, you can get a decent deal

washi tape isn't really "lingo" as much as it's just a product that people use :)

How about the hourly layout
Hi Heather, I am confused. What is the difference between a divider, dashboard and bookmark? And how are each used if they are not used as bookmarks?
Not the Guru A divider is the tab on the side that comes with the planner, a dashboard usually has some sort of functionality to it (ie, sticky notes, stickers or an event that is reoccurring), a bookmark just marks you spot in your planner. Hope that helps!
