Nicely done! Would have loved to see a training group progression from 200 to 100 to 50 pace with corresponding Stroke Rates... suspect those comparisons would be remarkable... and instructive! As always, nice job!!
If hip driven free exists, I think you could make an argument for the existence of hip driven backstroke. Backstroke seems of all strokes to put the most emphasis on the quads. I agree higher stroke rate probably means a faster backstroke, but equally or more important is the speed of the swimmer’s streamline kick on their back
Hi Nick. The kick is obviously very important in backstroke, as it is in all four strokes. The only events we see hip-driven freestyle being used are distance events. Most swimmers are using shoulder-driven or perhaps a hybrid freestyle for a 200 or less. Saving energy by using a hip-driven backstroke wouldn't be as fast as shoulder-driven backstroke since there are no events longer than the 200 backstroke.
@@robhood5636 Best way to do it on deck is with a watch! Most decent watches have a stroke rate function (at least the finis ones do) where you start and stop it after 3 cycles exactly and it spits out a stroke rate!

Thanks for the feedback, we'll keep that in mind for our upcoming shoots!

Very helpful indeed.
Thanks for your feedback Willem!
Nice worth watching!
Glad you think so!
when can you make a livestream to answer questions on butterfly Sr?
We can plan that soon! You can always ask the questions you have during any production
What rate would you suggest for a master swimmer over 60?
I am a 70 year old Masters swimmer and try to reach 86-90 SR as my top speed in backstroke.
@@theraceclub what’s the best way to accurately measure stroke rate? Also, do you find rates fluctuating drastically throughout race?

Super drills
Thank you!
