      @Varun Pandit ehh, you only feel that way because you're focusing on those your age who have been able to reach such high levels. Keep in mind the majority of your childhood is dictated by your family and not yourself. Focusing on your regrets will not help you do what makes you happy

      There's a video on You Tube someplace of me and Mark Spitz in the 100 fly in 1966. He was a sophomore, I was a senior, and he broke the national high school record. There are a number of world record holders in high school in our neck of the woods back then.

      It’s a world championship meet, and the year before an olympics too. This trend happens, especially at such a large and intense international meet; times are dropping and records are falling :)

      My guess is your crying because you just watched an amazing athlete swim an amazing race, breaking a world record as a high schooler. I don’t care particularly for soccer or basketball but when I see an outstanding performance I respect the performance. Well done Miss Smith.

      Swimming is generally much less explosive than running. Minor differences in technique and body shape also are much more impactful in swimming due to how much slower of a fluid water is vs air. It's fairly common to see women between 15-19 improve drastically as they often fully grow in height but not necessarily their bone structure and body shape. It's a bit less common for 15 year old men (i.e. Phelps is most recent 15 year old WR, which was in 2001). This is just one component to it though, like others mentioned too it's a bit less popular of a sport so the technique and strategy aren't quite as solidified.

    Lane 4 needs to be tested for steroids. Every world record been broke in that lane.

      That's because they put the lowest seeded time athlete in 4 then the next slowest in 5 then 3, 6, etc. It would be strange if WR's were being broken out of lane 4.

      Lane 4 and 5 are assigned to the best times of the semi-finals, which is why the records are there
