I always appreciate the quality video production you put together. The clarity, camera scrolling & panning, easy to understand speech, good lighting, etc. People don't realize how many things go into a good vid.
As an old head, this is exactly the type of amp I love. This takes me back to the mid 90s running a US amps 300 watt amp powering a dual 12 box from kicker. I probably remember it being louder than it actually was, but it bumped my hatchback like crazy. Down at the beach we would all drive up and down the strip just playing our music to see who was the loudest.
@@wal today they are a different loud. It hurt you back in the day it was a different kind of loud that would punish you. Today these big amps and subs just brutalize you. Only thing that not a fan of is all the pro audio type speakers used for the highs crammed everywhere. What happened to imaging? Also aesthetics seems like not as many care about finished looks. Those are my only 2 gripes so far 😆
I ordered this amp almost subconsciously on my birthday. Something told me that I would forever regret not getting this! Just need a Tahoe to put it in now...
Holy crap what a beast!! 😳🤯 I love the old school design of these amps. And I love the fact that they made at least 2 models in class AB. Just wish they would be a permanent addition to their lineup to give you options. This amp is amazingly efficient for a class AB too. Wouldn't mind having this one and the 4 channel class AB. I've never heard one before but I got the jp34ab in my closet just waiting to get my truck detailed before installing cuz that beauty of an Amp deserves nothing less. My truck is hellahellahella dirty right now lol been to the river, camping, and hauling dogs around too much 😅
I have 2 separate systems in 2 of my cars and all I run is AB on my mids and highs. Wouldn't have it any other way, the sound difference is very noticeable. This amp you tested is a very impressive piece not only in shear power but also in efficiency, looks and size.

I'm glad you mentioned the SQ of the subs, I recently got an opportunity to demonstrate and explain the difference between class A/B and D to an old buddy of mine he ran a Memphis 500.1 (350wx1 4ohm 500x1 2 ohm) for a few years and absolutely loved it. It pooped out on him and he bought an Audiobank class D amp that you had confirmed I think around 600w 4ohm. He hooked it up to his DVC 15" sub and said it didn't sound right. I eventually got ahold of his broken Memphis and tore it down to try to diagnose and guess what - it's an A/B design and it looks like it even has an extra feedback circuit of some kind AFTER the output stage. It sparked a great conversation about SQ and damping factor and it made it easy to explain since he had already heard a noticeable difference between the two amps
@@casemods For me it’s hard to pin down but my suspicion is that the class D’s that don’t sound good to me, aren’t filtering the square wave enough. If you go listen to music composed on a computer in the 80’s it’s really easy to hear because they aren’t even trying to generate a smooth sine wave. It’s just sounds unnatural with an electrical buzz on top. Like walking next to a large power transformer. They have come a long way with class D and if you listen to the top end class d amps it would be hard to pick them out of a double blind test. The Brazilian full bridge is just absolute garbage sounding on anything over 70hz. I would rather have no amp than a Taramps.
It was my buddy's system and I really couldn't tell any difference since I didn't listen to it every day. He did hear a difference though but he couldn't quite put his finger on it since he's not really super educated in audio reproduction. The point I was trying to make was that it was a double blind comparison and someone ignorant to amplifier design was able to discern the difference in SQ between the class A/B and D
@@brentb5303 I agree totally. I still prefer tube or A/B for my front stage and have settled on class d for my sub but even on a sub I truly believe it's hard to beat a good quality class A/B

Back in 1994 I had a 1982 Fleetwood Cadillac on Hydraulics. Head unit was a McIntosh, MB Quart 3 way separates with a crossover in each door, in the trunk was the JL Triplate with 3 10W6 subs. All Phoenix Gold Amps. JL made a custom sound deadening 2” thick Matt on the trunk. DBX 4 channel 31 Band EQ for the Mids, McIntosh Digital EQ for the Subs.
Class AB will never die!!! I know I can tell a big difference in SQ when I had a class D powering my really.nice.nro deaf bonce mids an highs versus when I powered them with the JP34ab...night an day difference in how crispy clear the mid bass vocals an certain sounds in a instrumental that I couldn't hear or tell was there before

US Amps were shiny (actually a brushed finish) for a couple years but they went to a matte finish starting with the Xterminator line. It holds up better to wear and tear.
I have two of the purple JP34 now. I’ve been enjoying my first one for the last 4 days in my truck. It runs my my highs and sub Very well. I have about 10 hours listening time on it and I’m impressed. I like it so much I bought another one at Slamology today. JP is giving us a great product at an awesome price. These amps are so beautiful in person and they are performers! Awesome stuff D4S. You have a new fan
I'm still running old school A/B amps in 3 of my vehicles. I've had them for around 25 years and they're still bumping. Also running an old school PPI pro flat in my Honda. Old school audio FTW
I remember a car I bought years ago had Focal Audio, UDimensions, US Amps and Cerwin Vega. I sold most the system and made my money back, I spent on the car and more
Wish I was doing a system so I could pair a JP34 with a JP43 I had amps in both of these colours in the 90s and they are the power levels I like today. Really nice to have the mix of AB & D class in the system.
@@wal I fully get what you are saying. I cant quite explain it but 1000 watts AB on subs just hits better/sounds better than 1500 class D on the same subs. I have contemplated many times removing my class D sub amp and going back to a Mosconi Zero 3.

I spoke with the the owner of US AMPS back in the day, and the story is that he and his Vietnam buddy, built military spec power supply/amps, but couldn't get a UL listing for rack-mount consumer stuff, so the Xterminator was born for car audio instead. The rest is history.

Well, we've seen both extremes in the last few days. The JBC with its 15 watts per channel, lol. And now this monster. Hard to beat the content Big D is giving us now. Also, the efficiency of this A/B amp may be the best I've ever seen. Very close to class D. Would love to spend some time with it doing some critical listening. Very impressive test results.
I have a JP 23 because of your videos. So I gave it a shot so I ordered one when unboxed it pieces of solder came out one end. And I don’t know what to think about that . Then my brother ordered a cab 22 and I gotta say I felt like a jackass paying $100 more for basically the same amp . I just feel down for sound it’s just lotta hype . Because JP does really good job at marketing There’s a lot of amplifiers out there for less money with the same value.
The JP amps are more than hype. The power supplies are built to handle extremely low ohm loads and they have the most featured bass knobs. Contact D4S customer support and they can get you a replacement.
@@wal I did return it for a refund and I went with the cab 22. You really doing a good job on marketing for down 4 sound you must be getting paid good. Make that money.
Back in the mid 90's I put in my first subwoofer... The class D's I tried I thought they sounded like shit back then. I always used AB even for subwoofer back then. :)

That quad box was going crazy at 1 ohm
I spoke with the the owner of US AMPS back in the day, and the story is that he and his Vietnam buddy, built military spec power supply/amps, but couldn't get a UL listing for rack-mount consumer stuff, so the Xterminator was born for car audio instead. The rest is history.

Well, we've seen both extremes in the last few days. The JBC with its 15 watts per channel, lol. And now this monster. Hard to beat the content Big D is giving us now.
Also, the efficiency of this A/B amp may be the best I've ever seen. Very close to class D. Would love to spend some time with it doing some critical listening. Very impressive test results.

I have a JP 23 because of your videos. So I gave it a shot so I ordered one when unboxed it pieces of solder came out one end. And I don’t know what to think about that . Then my brother ordered a cab 22 and I gotta say I felt like a jackass paying $100 more for basically the same amp . I just feel down for sound it’s just lotta hype . Because JP does really good job at marketing There’s a lot of amplifiers out there for less money with the same value.
The JP amps are more than hype. The power supplies are built to handle extremely low ohm loads and they have the most featured bass knobs. Contact D4S customer support and they can get you a replacement.
@@wal I did return it for a refund and I went with the cab 22. You really doing a good job on marketing for down 4 sound you must be getting paid good. Make that money.
I remember putting a VLX-400 on four 15's in a Honda Civic for a customer back in the day. It was just ridiculous.

Back in the mid 90's I put in my first subwoofer... The class D's I tried I thought they sounded like shit back then. I always used AB even for subwoofer back then. :)

Big D the impedance wouldn’t rise as much if you would loud the woofers and port facing hard surfaces. Play with it and see.
