Sarah Lois Vaughan (nicknamed "Sassy" and "The Divine One") (March 27, 1924 April 3, 1990) was an American jazz singer, described by Scott Yanow as having "one of the most wondrous voices of the 20th century". Sarah Vaughan was a three time Grammy Award winner. The National Endowment for the Arts bestowed upon her its highest honor in jazz, the NEA Jazz Masters Award in 1989.

TY for the upload, Sarah as fabulous as always, what on earth is with the drummer?
He hates his costume, and he's having to mime playing the drums to the actual drummer in the band (which is offstage). Miming the drums is impossible because you can't really hit them - it would make noise. There are some Beatles videos where Ringo also looks ridiculous because he's trying to pretend to play along to a recording without actually hitting anything.

@@jazzrecordingsandarchives9198 Sarah is live, as is the band. The drummer is quite obviously not sitting in the band - he's on stage as a prop. It looks to me like he barely hitting the drums, not nearly enough to make that much sound. I think there is a real drummer playing live with the band, and this one is pretending to play along just for show.
They also show a bell of a trumpet, but there is no way at all to tell if someone is actually playing it.

Pretending to play the drums is so hard! You can't actually hit them because it would make too much noise. Poor guy...and he had to wear that ridiculous costume too.
@shimasamba Oh, no..... I prefer the black and white, and hate to see colorized versions. It makes her teeth look the same color green as her dress. Everything is either that sickly green color or various hues of the red/pink. Sorry, but I hate to see colorized versions of black and white film; I think it ruins the image.
