- "Dindi" (which sounds like Jin-jee in English) is a song composed by famous Brazilian composer Antônio Carlos Jobim, with lyrics by Aloysio de Oliveira. It is a world-famous bossa nova standard.
Sarah Vaughan performed it during her 1982 North Sea Jazz concert.
Sarah Lois Vaughan (March 27, 1924 - April 3, 1990) was an American jazz singer, described by Scott Yanow as having "one of
the most wondrous voices of the 20th century."
This concert at the North Sea Jazz Festival was recorded on 12 July 1981.
Sarah's trio is:
George Gaffney: Piano,
Andy Simpkins: Bass,
Harold Jones: Drums;

One of my favorite songs of all time. I still believe Jobim was the greatest contemporary songwriter of all time.
Jobim did not write the lyrics to Dindi. The Composer was Alósio (Louis) de Oliveria of Bandó de Lua. He wrote the song for Sylvia Telles, his wife.
Antônío Carlos Jobim only composed the music to Dindi.
Even though these lyrics are not his, he is one of the best songwriters ever. But believe me, no one is a match for Chico Buarque. He doesn't seem to be human. Tom Jobim would certainly agree. They wrote lyrics together, by the way. Jobim was always impressed with him

Sarah and Amy Winehouse are the only musicians I know of that can crack you up in between songs that will blow your mind. Genius comics and vocalists.
Can you let me know which of Amy Winehouse’s songs (live or studio) demonstrate this kind of creativity and comic genius, etc? I’m a bit confused you’d include Amy Winehouse in that sentence to be honest. Ella’s later work is so creative, Leny Andrade is an incredible improviser. I’ve just never hear Amy Winehouse bring anything like that to the table.
