I've got a cocktail jazz gig at a funeral buffet later, which I can whip this out on.
Sonortubelug the moving to the left is not as easy for me I've placed my 10" tom between a 13 and 14 tom toms my 16 is also lower than presented here but very inspiring
Knock em' dead
*Ba Dum Pish*
😂
Sonirtubelug: Nothing like a little sarcasm to start The day eh!
Out of the 100's of drumming videos available on you tube, this is the best !! Love the real sound of a well tuned kit and of course the ego free no b.s. manner of how Louie plays and speaks. Best drum teacher ever.
Great sound of your drumset . . . and fabulous fast drumming! Buddy Rich would have appreciated this!
Wow I'm old and have never seen a drummer that had that much speed and accuecy at them same time.
Absolutely awesome thank you, this is a great triplet exercise. Buddy made this famous? Thanks again, tried the first pattern tonight and immediately felt good about the pattern. A new day tomorrow I'll work on the 2nd pattern on the toms.
excellent...I am a double stroke guy (corp drummer) love the triplets ...lots of work to do...didn't have video's growing up...never too late right
Robert Wolff what corps?
@@wei-anhsieh2853 BD for me and son teaches there. saw buddy when I was 8 and then joined BD.
Thanks for not editing the stick click out right after 1:46. That makes me feel better about myself.
There is a brief moment in the sequence where you actually enable my soul to FLOAT .
I loved it & I am a huge fan of Buddy Rich !
@ 04:09 Best accidental crash hit. Such a genuine sound.
hahaha you are exactly right buddy!
amazing speed, and buddy rich was an old guy so there is still hope for me!! Great job and thanks for those sweet tips!
I like it! And this guys a great drummer and clear communicator.
+Greg Burrows Agreed!!
agreed & I need my kit to sound like that.
Louie, thanks so much for sharing. The drums, cymbals, and you all sound AMAZING!!! Continued success! Happy drumming!!!:)
Excellent everything - playing, drum tuning and sound, explanations, pacing...even the speaking. Thank you.
I had never thought of starting with the floor tom !!! amazing idea....
Louie is THE MAN! More vids with him, please! :D
Love the sound of that kit!
wow smoothness
Always wondered how Buddy played that….thank you soooo much, mystery solved.
Nicely Done! Beautiful sounding drums to boot!
can you breakdown your gear, those drums are so resonant...great instruction.
Many Thanks. A few days ago I was wondering how to go about tackling the triplet problem. I was wondering whether to do RRL all around the kit or do RLR LRL RLR and this vodeo really helped me. I'll definately practice that.
nice work!! And beautifully tuned drums!
Very insightful , always wondered what Buddy was playing there !
Great lesson buddy ! When you hit that all important "Eurika" moment all makes sense in co-ordination & independence !
Louie, thanks for this lesson.
Great lesson, I can go to the wrong drum at low speed, and have doing it for years, using triplet fills, but I hadn't thought about the true implication of what a limiting factor that is in terms of speed. Thanks!
cool chops , match or trad , all cool , love it
This guy is great! V. articulate! Plus big skillz. Thanks.
Crazy speed....sounds awesome🔥🥁🔥
one of the best sound i have ever heard!
Yes very nice, great tuning of the drum's as well.
Great Louie! that's really work! Thank you so much!
try and competed this groove, great fun to play get the body moving round the kit, trick I used think right hand and left will follow
this guy is wicked fast!
Great Licks / Drums sound great !
Super stuff thank you Louie.
Awesome dude!
The 16 to 10 is rad!
Nice sound and technique
Very good, Wonderful Drum Sound
Very difficult when first practicing ,but keep at it and its amazing how quickly you can nail it
Nice drumming!!
Nice flow and feel.
Awesome tutorial, thank you for this!
nicely done, Sir- Thank you!
Thanks so much for the great lesson! Peace!
Excellent lesson!!
Those toms sound killer!
Well tuned kit - good pattern exercises..
Very smooth hands, very nice speed. That being said, this video should be subtitled "How to play a fill that will get you fired from any band".
You are one great drummer
Great stuff!!!
He hit the sticks at 1.47. Happy to see that's not been cutted. He is a man like me! :) Vik Firth the best
Sounds like a Roller Coaster going up the tracks when he slows down haha
Excellent! Thank you!
Awesome!
Excellent
clean playing bro sounds good
Awesome sir
Very cool!
Fluid. NICE!
Excelent excercise.
Great lesson for me thank you!
Excellent video thank you very much.
Thanx for the lesson.
Forgot to add that your drums sound great!
Sweet lick.
Great lesson... Thanks so much!
Great video....thanks
Louie is the man.
Bottom to top, that's a heck of a move at that speed
Thanks - nice patterns m8!
I've played the 9 note pattern in a 'swing' setting. Basically on every 1/4 note of a 1/4 note triplet I play a triplet.
I admire so many drummers but I'm still waiting for one to make my jaw drop the way that Buddy Rich did.Try & find the tribute Jo Jo Mayer paid to Buddy.
Nice and clear
Amazing
Very good
What hi-hats are you playing with in this video? Amazing sound!
Would love to know how you had this mic'd, and what software was used. Great vid! Cheers!
This is in the JOE CUSATIS Book:
“Rhythmic Patterns for Drum Set”
All of these variations and more can be found in that book literally hundreds of patterns for getting around the drum set with single Strokes with both triplets and 16th note patterns! Also many studies for crossovers one of the best books if not the best book for navigating the waters of the drum set! How artsy fartsy he is that! LOL
what cymbals are being used? they sound smooth and oh so buttery
One of the first fills I used to play when I started playing drums
It's good to see you highlight the impossibility of playing L after L or R after R on different drums beyond slower speeds. It soon becomes obvious when sitting behind the kit, but is rarely mentioned in teaching material. The need to be on the correct hand after a combination to get to the next drum, cymbal, etc. Is a huge problem for percussion when sight-reading impossible and exactly what's on the chart, stroke for stroke, is required. Where a conductor, and other band members, don't appreciate these facts and think they know otherwise, it can be stressful and frustrating.
Excellent observation. I remember as a beginner asking my teacher why things like paradiddles mattered, etc... and he explained how, one use would be to change your lead hand, or to get around the drums without getting hung up on a less ideal hand... I didn't fully understand it then, and he was certainly struggling to explain it better. But it has sunk in over the years, and things like this.... are in that same vein. Play for any amount of time and you will trip yourself up by trapping your own hands... eventually we work out how to avoid this.... it's a hugely important thing...
Excellent !!!!!!!!
Holy fucking shit, the toms sounds so great!
Awesome.
Thank u so much
I believe this pattern (and many others) are found in the Joe Cusatis book; "Rhythmic Patterns for the Modern Drummer" Henri Adler Publ.
Hahahaha omg i just noticed i was watching it on 1.25 speed. Bruh I literally didnt believe that was possible XDD
HQHQHAHAHAHAHA
It is possible..
At 66, this is very difficult to do, but has improved my speed immensely!
I rate Louie - realy nice guy.
thank you very cool! smooth
simple but great
I like it! Very cool. PS you have the best haircut in the world 🤘
Nice
so easy!! wow . cant just belive it!!!
The 9 beat phrasing is cool, but without any accenting it becomes really hard to follow the groove, you have any pointers for adding some accenting?
Great
I almost got it up to the same speed :) Cool Lick, but i can't find a way to relax my upper body when I move between the drums. You look so relaxed when you play it. Any advice on that? Thanks!
David Barker, notice how you breath when you're playing. I learned this from a drummer, who learned it from a piano teacher...breathing technique-for relaxed playing.
Dope!!!
this guy is a beast
