Fun video. Thanks for sharing. Have you considered however, that adventuring is more than running around with just armor? The adventures will have to march with their weapon as well as food, water, camping supplies and gear(rope etc). The terrain will not be as friendly either; dense forest, steep rocky hills with sharp rocks or swamps with mud and bugs. That and the prospect of immediate danger or potential ambush meant that fantasy adventuring in a very tiring and dangerous profession. In short: Dash in light armor, a 10-20kg pack on his back, weapons and water on his belt, arrows on his quivers, helmet strap on his side, doing an obstacle course while being wary of potential orc/goblin ambushes. And cloak,s, must not forget the cloaks too. Dash might not like the idea, especially in the summer heat but it does sound fun to try out.
I would be 100% on board with that. I would try to figure out how to make it fun and dynamic for sure but I have friends with lots of property and I could kind of set up points as far as Miles traveled, etc. etc. and see how that goes, get some serious lord of the rings distance
Traveling long distances on foot in armor with a heavy pack would be impractical for most anyone, especially in rough terrain. It might be possible, as current soldiers bear absurd burdens (loads of over a 100lbs), but they often have access to vehicles & get exhausted if they have to trek for miles & miles on foot. Of course, an adventurer might opt to have a pack animal. Or of course they could have superhuman strength & stamina. But for an adventurer to with human-level stats, wearing little or no armor would make a lot of sense if traveling on foot without pack animals or vehicles.
@@dashrendar5320 From Hobbiton to mount doom, Frodo and Sam covered 1,800 miles(2,897 km) . I am surprised that there are people online who had worked all this and made a webpage on it. If you do attempt this, I look forward to see you do a lot of walking while singing the "The road goes ever on"
@ashrendar5320 more or less. How to choose a bow, types of bow(if you have that knowledge) measure draw length, tune the bow, bow care and maintenance, etc. I'm sure there's tons of ways you could nerd these up and do what you enjoy.
There's a reason mounted archers across Eurasia wore considerable armor. If properly designed & fitted, armor need not hinder archery. Some historical archers wore extensive arm defenses, as seen in period art from the Middle East to China & Japan. It's even possible some European head-to-toe plate armor allowed archery, as we do see this in illustrations & some heavily armored cavalry used bows (such as in France into the early 16th century). It's also worth noting that infantry who had to march on foot frequently eschewed armor on the legs or at least on the lower legs.
I absolutely loved the video Dash. Watching you have fun is always a good time for all 😁 I feel like alot like with the longbow, you would need to train with armour in order to get your endurance up in the specific muscles required to wear it for long periods of time. Makes you think how strong you would have to be to not only wear and move in the armour, but to use it in prolonged combat 🤯💪
So glad you enjoyed it, and yes, I really believe it’s just a matter of adapting overtime. People get used to things if they train them so the more you train the easier it gets.

Great video! You should read about a french knight named Boucicaut, he did all kinds of exercises in full armour including climbing the inside of a ladder with hands only mighty impressive!
That rope climb in armor looked really hard. It made me think that doing metcon style training in armor would be an excellent workout. I know knights used to train jumps, lifting stones, climbing in armor, etc, so this wouldn’t be that far removed. Burpees, pull-ups, dips, etc would all be way harder, sort of like when calisthenics athletes or cross fitters wear a weighted vest.
I think you just personally showed why people whose on a battlefield wasn't just ramming people on a horse on bonking them with a polaxe often ditched gaunlets and lower legs protection. Every one pound on the chest and head is like five on the limbs cus you essentially propelling when you move. And if you rich enough to have a horse and attendants, you have to put your armor yourself or wear all the walk the entire way while wearing your kit.
It's worth noting that grieves and sabatons were by in large some of the thinnest parts of a suit of armour, minimizing the weight on your lower leg make a massive difference in your ability to move.
Another great video. So I guess the next logical step is to do an exercise video whilst wearing full armour. You know, really get that algorithm messed up on who it should be suggesting to!
