Some of the BEST banter in the game! Morrigan vs. the Anti-Morrigan. (but then again, pretty much ALL Morrigan dialogue is very good! Bravo Claudia Black!)
I believe there were more banter concerning Morrigan and the Warden's relationship. I remember a dialogue where Wynne apologised to Morrigan for thinking she was trying to corrupt the Warden.
Its kinda funny, when she came to my racist, cheauvinistic blood mage warden who just sacraficed a kid to a demon and a lot of slaves for xp. And she was worried Morrigan will have a bad influence on me :D
I used to find Morrigan fiery and desirable. Now that I'm a bit older, I only see angst bait. I think Wynne's right about Morrigan's personality, that is unless Morrigan grows more as a person.
She grew more as a person in Inquisition, especially if you romance her and have a child with her, still sassy at times, but a lot more mature. In Origins though, she really just an angry swamp girl who was raised by a terrible mother Still best romance choice because of her character development in the next games
@@grisaier that is true. Her growth really is a beautiful thing to be able to see. From angry swamp girl to the mother of the OGB. I like her romance arc too! Her and Zev. Sass is always charming.
Taking into context the only person she had actual meaningful contact with, Flemeth, you can understand why she’s like that. Her mother was awful and she definitely indoctrinated Morrigan.

Wynne was a character I liked when I was younger, now I find her extremely distasteful. Behind the kind grandma personality, she keeps proselitizing on Morrigan for a system Morrigan has no interest in, just because she thinks every mage should follow it. She is hypocritical and in the books she is even worse and even only in Origins she has an habit of pushing unwanted judgement on every companion and accuses Morrigan of being a Maleficar and evil when Morrigan hasn't done anything to her. (Sure, Morrigan probably wouldnt give a shit about being labelled a Maleficar, nor she has problems with blood magic, but Wynne has no reason to think Morrigan is one and when we meet Morrigan is worth to notice that she is not one and she even has more skills in herbalism than poison, when you would expect the contrary). Sure Morrigan is a bit rude in her answers, but Morrigan is a young woman who is discovering the world right now and suffered a bad childood under Flemeth. If I had a bunch of people coming to me and telling me i'm evil because I don't live like them, which is basically what Wynne does here, I would tell them to f off too. Wynne may be a mage, but between accusing Morrigan with no proof, trying to get everyone from Morrigan to her ex apprentice to join the Circle and calling all apostates evil she is basically acting more as a Templar than Alistair himself does
She's also being possessed by a spirit of wisdom so she's going to try and spout off all the wisdom she's gained to her better or her detriment regardless of the situation Much like how Cole was constantly spouting off all his compassion again to his better or detriment regardless of the situation
@@rejvaik00 I don't think that's a fair comparison. Wynne is certainly too quick to judge with Morrigan, but does genuinely want her to mature and improve as a person. You can also see that Morrigan does take what Wynne says seriously, even if she disagrees. Her apprehension towards Morrigan is understandable and the product of many years of experience - as well as conditioning from the Circle and a knowledge of history - to be wary of rogue apostates. Morrigan isn't a maleficar, but she is certainly young and reckless, which is a dangerous combination as a powerful mage. Cole on the other hand is an insufferable waterspout that constantly vomits people's private thoughts and memories out loud. His concept is cool, but it's presented in such a dislikeable way and with such an obnoxious degree of social r*t*rdation that nearly everyone quite rightfully resents and shuns him, except of course Solas. Cole is like the world's most incompetent and unprofessional therapist: he has no sense of direction nor any idea why he asks the questions he does, and he is determined to share all your secrets to the whole world. This is quite the opposite of Wynne, who while judgemental, is thoughtful and incisive with her comments, and is ultimately driven by benevolence and good intentions.
@@chavzonethats the point however. Wynne thinks she has the right to "impact her experience" on Morrigan, which the first time is fine, even if it's very bs because Wynne own experience is very limited and narrowed to what the chantry teaches (as it is showed by Wynne painting the Wardens as noble protectors of men, which is the literally opposite of what they are as the Wardens would absoputely let people burn to protect humanity at large and arent white knights at all). But when Morrigan rejects her, instead of accepting, she keeps pestering her in a lecturing tone. Alistair and Morrigan dont like each other at all and he still doesnt treat her with that kind of gaslighting. It is also not somethinf related to Morrigan only. Wynne has an habit of ostracizing everyone who does not conform to her own morals -she complains that Zevran harrasses her, but if you look at his dialogue he mostly only does such when she ignores his desire not talk about his bast and tries to "redeem" him for being an ex assassin. imagine if your warden kept asking zevran things when he says no- and she comes to the level of advocating for Orlais to rule Ferelden again out of distaste for Loghain in the DLC. This is confirmed by her own son in the books, where he calls her out for lecturing people without understanding them, so it's very much an intentional flaw of the character. It doesnt mean she is some kind of monster and there is some empathy to be had on the way she became like this as a resoult of the climate of fear of the Circle and Templars, but it doesnt change that it molded Wynne in a woman whos kind grandma aspect is only reserved for "socially acceptable" people and who is absolutely vicious and ignoring of the desires of the rest.
