When walking down the steps to George Street one day I saw a workman repairing a sash window and behind him was the winch. He told me that the building was once used by printers and the winch was for hauling up the huge rolls of newsprint. Anecdotal, of course.

Brilliant space, Simon! What are the local laws regarding opening the fireplaces and making them proper wood-burning fireplaces? Are only metal stoves with metal exhaust chimneys allowed, or can they be proper, open-faced fireplaces?

Thanks for the comment. I think depending on the size of the hearth, you could have an open fire but I think I’d go with wood burners
