i was watching this as it popped up in my recommended videos as i have been seeing your new videos lately. wild. you will be able to do all these again or most of them. i am sure of it. just keep doing a bit each day as you have been. loving your new vids.
@@RLOsbornBMXFreestyle i seen your infinity video. did you ever 180 into them? i found it to be easier that way. once i learned them. i started to 180 into them. feet on rear pegs. front brake nose 180 and then when the tear tire goes back i do sometimes a full 360 of the infinity without scuffing then i scuff as i slow down. i seen you and eddie do them always but never did i see anyone do them how i do them now. just curious??
never minding the fact R.L. rode for almost seven minutes straight, he was always on point stylewise, and the backwards infinity roll at the end killed it! I used to watch this tape a lot in 87-88, and it helped me out a lot, glad to see it again!
Born in 1978 i grow up on this guy and Michael domigoz. I love waching this vidos on vhs time to put on my van s and go get a sky way ta with pink mags ❤💯👀🏆😓👌
Wish I still had all the bikes I had as a kid.... Hutch trick star , GT pro racer,PK Ripper, Redline something. Even had a Diamondback Harry Larry a one point
I know that’s not the original music from the contest but I think I’ll remember that tune until the day I die and I’m 51. I remember having that cassette tape in the late 80s or early 90s and I think I still have the ramp version they came in two separate VHS one ramp one flatland. If I’m not mistaken, I remember someone talking about that contest how some of the experts were already doing better than the pros at that contest. I know it happened later on for sure.
Went to the AMA Nationals in Austin, TX around this time (85-86 or so) and got to meet him, and a bunch of our BMX idols back then. A few years before that, the BMX Action Trick Team performed in a very crowded Arlington Stadium (RIP) parking lot around 1983. BMX still runs in my blood, and I'm 48 now. LOL
@@dereckc9469 wow. Soulman, I remember you. Man, so many good memories on Big Red One. Good to hear from an old friend. Hope u had a good Thanksgiving. Hope all is well. And I wish BR1 was still active. I’d be on there everyday like before if it ever comes back. Still my favorite game ever.
I have a 88 coral master . glad to hear I'm not the only one saving my bike.....i got one question? which bike would u take, a brand new team model haro master back in 88 or a RL20 redline??? just wondering because even though I'm pro haro, the redline RL20 does look neat.
dang, had to come watch this, for some reason the music in it was playing in my head all day. I just noticed I am wearing the exact style of vans R.L. has in this vid. the subconscious is odd at times.
For some reason I remember in West Palm Beach at the contest there, I have him on video outside practicing before his run and during. He was smoother and more flawless than this video, no clue why. But him and Martin has always been my favorite in the pro division.
He was real cool, kinda quiet, not cocky at all. I worked with some of his friends and we would all meet up for drinks or whatever. He had a house in Lomita and I went over there a few times too. I never knew who he was until I met him.
I heard from a friend of Fiola, that he and Martin, Osbourne, Woody ride still at Redondo beach. I think it was tuesday evenings. Swing by and watch. I bet they still have brakes on their bikes. : )
oh hey...can u also post Jonathan- the ripping- Ritters "pro" flat run from this comp?! i know beginners that just started yesterday that are better than Ritter was during his pro career!haha. guess alot of it had to do with who you knew back then?...haha. also, if ya watch the beginning and end of these vids, you will see the AM/Expert riders were better than most the pros. kool!
I know...it totally looks like a Torker...dont understand what the folks at Redline were thinking...and this when Redline came out with all the lame colors..green..violet...etc...I got out of BMX at the right time 85 or so..got my license and it was on and crackin..))
The goggles were to protect your eyes from a fall. I wiped out once with no goggles. Had to have surgery to reattach my iris to my eye from the handlebar grip hitting me in my eye. Trust me, I wish I would have had my goggles on.
Yeah it would pay good to own even a small business, even if it is not as glorious as a sport where you can show your talents. For going in a direction, the real world of work sucks.
haha...i still own this on VHS. both the flatland and "aerials". RLs run right here is what inspired me to try and ride smooth. his style was just way better than say, Woody Itson who had a jumpy froggy style(not hatin on the Woody..just sayin..). at one point i even had this whole routine wired and would bust it out at random while riding with friends who also knew of this vid.haha. fun times! RIDE ON!
to those saying the tricks are kind of lame and outdated..i would much rather see this flatland as what they do today..nothing but going in circles and balancing on one wheel the whole time..sorry but its boring..and the bikes today suck..and the riders all look the same..no flashy clothes,or bikes..it puts me to sleep..
i perfer the 1985 BIKE used in the movie RAD the 1985 R.L.osborn bmx freestyle bike with forklifter bars and ACS rotor kit there is no compermize the new bmx bikes are crap oldschool bmx freestyle bikes are better my threadless forks are already no good threaded forks ae way better then this new crap you gotta be $ET like R.L.osborn to be good in bmx newschool bmx ers dont even wear the propor garb like ame helments moto cross outfit all that stuff should be apart of all bmx freestyle $ET

YEAAA that's my Uncle R.L. KILLIN IT!

I second that.
Summer of 86 I watched this everyday.
Wow this brings back memories, I first saw RL at Rockville BMX geez must have been the summer of 83-84!

One of my earliest inspirations to ride flat right here!!! So rad!!! 😀👍
Love the old BMX freestyle, never get tired of it.
That's because it's not "old", it's fresh!
that was the very bike he used in RAD !

I watched this 20 times in a row I think great learning material for an old soul in a young body
The Redline RL 20-II was the pinnacle of bikes-at this time, and I had an '85 Haro Master at the time. (Still do) I always wanted the Redline!
Idk man? haro masters demand respect too. I have a complete 88 coral master and I always ask myself if the RL20 is better? I'm a Dennis McCoy fan too
@@jeremymccardle3696 Haro Master And Redline RL 20 II were both insanely awesome, they were the Ferrari and Lamborghini of bikes back then!
R.L was my favourite.

These kids today are on a whole other level. It's amazing
Best looking bike of that era besides my HUTCH TRICKSTAR!
Let's Go Crazy, i love this old School BMX and FREE STYLE!! 👏✌️🤘🤟🤙🥇
I remember how the tricks he is doing seemed like the cutting edge at the time. Look at what Simon O'Brian does now. Totally new game.
I have that same make and model hanging on my wall..It's a piece of art. Also have some others.. 86 Haro Master and 86 Haro sport. All original.

Same bike from RAD too.
Thanks for the video. R.L. never came over to Sweden, so this is greate. Nice colours :D
yeah the colours are great, and the RL-II pro model is gold

I got to see Osborne when he rode for Redline on tour.

Hey...I partied with that guy back in '87.
if'n im not mistaken, im in this video.. looks like the show that was the weekend of the ABA Grands in Oklahoma city in '87
SHOW!
Go Osborn. Smooth as always
Looked rather sketchy to me 🤔
Stiil got my Techmatic Flites! How dope is that! Fuck I'm old!! lol
i had almost every pro bmx bike back in the day
R.L. owns a carpet cleaning business. Never would have thought he would go in that direction, but apparently he is making some really good money.
Anybody know the name of the trick at 0:53?
The music rules so does RL Osbourne, now i wanna go ride my bike.
👍

You are mistaken.
@r6power777 is that what hes doing nowadays?? i know your post is old but CARPET CLEANER???
this is the most best boring music to ever fall asleep to
Haro Sport Launch I think?
i might be wrong but i think that is 86-87 i wanted that bike in red never got it though got a 86 master in green innstead.
I wonder what him and all the other old freestylers and BMX'ers from the 80's are doing nowadays? I haven't kept up much with the scene in years.

HARO master bmx freestyle
Riding was so different then. There was more of a showmanship to it.
check out the new redline 48 lookin just like a torker

just so u know , in 1982 (or1983) Bob haro went to torker and that's where the haro freestyler was born. just thought I'd throw it out there
the goggles are essential due to the potential flying debris
And essential for all the endorsements these dudes were pullin' down at the time. RL was the first millionaire in the sport.
The goggles were to protect your eyes from a fall. I wiped out once with no goggles. Had to have surgery to reattach my iris to my eye from the handlebar grip hitting me in my eye. Trust me, I wish I would have had my goggles on.
