With most hi hat pedals you can change the "voice" to a bass drum sound, and have a double bass, but I'm not quite sure about this particular model. I can do it on my Alesis Surge, which I highly recommend. Alesis Surge has awesome mesh heads, bass drum tower and a bass drum pedal. It's a fantastic, low-end (inexpensive) E-kit.

Not to mention it feels quite rickety, and a single bass pedal limits me (being more into deathcore and djent type music). Personally I’d save up a bit more and go for something a bit more reliable, but if you want to save money, this is a pretty solid kit.

I really liked that it had a Midi out as I ended up using it for a hybrid Acoustic/ Electric for gigs running into Ableton to trigger sound effects and different different drum sounds.

The TD-1 module is great, you can connect it to your computer running Superior Drummer 3 via USB. I am a hobby musician and I am building my custom kit the same way you can put together your own computer. I am puting togother a kit using the TD-1 as the brain and for the rest I am using second hand Roland pads (PDX-100), cymbals, rack (TD 17) and a new kick drum (KD-10).
Man, I bought this set based on this video. Now I am stuck with a set that I cannot simply import the audio into a computer. I wish you would have friggin told us "hey, don't try to record with this set". That would have helped save me some money.

I have had this one four years. Unless you do a bunch of eq, in a sound mixing board, not quite sounding this good. It's fine. I've enjoyed them. Put two bass pedals in series. Lots of fun to play to tunes.
To acoustic-experienced drummers who also have tried TD1k: would you recommend it for a beginner? Particularly on what I'm hearing about learning on e-kits in general would be hard on "stick control" and "dynamics" (not really sure but I take it's probably about rebound/feel and response/sensitivity)? But I also am hearing Roland is superior at those regard, but how about this particular unit? Also, do how's the beaterless pedal? It's probably inferior to the normal ones but it shouldn't be that bad? You could still make some pseudo-"double ped" bit (2 consecutive fast kick) right? Isn't it moving while your playing? I know I'm late, but I bought new pedals (hi hat and a kick drum). This isn't even near a real drum kit, cuz thise are rubber kits.. Mesh heads are more realistic

I record with a Roland Kit. One of the benefits is, nobody can hear me recording them, unless I want them to. They also don't consume as much cubic footage as a real kit. The Rolands do have their limitations, but I will continue to use them.
Joe Horizon If you want to really take it to the next level use 3rd party drum software like addictive drums, and you will have waaaaay better and more realistic sounds than the ones that come with that module.

If you practice and work hard you’ll improve at an alarming rate, so it’s easy to quickly outgrow a ‘traditional’ beginner kit, meaning you need to spend more money for a new kit. The TD-1K and TD-1KV are designed to grow with you; upgrade the kick pad to use your own acoustic single or double pedal, or upgrade to the KT-10 kick pad for all the feel without the noise. You can even add an extra crash cymbal with the optional OP-TD-1C matching cymbal and mount."
Yeah, you would need to buy a KT-9 pedal pad and then use your double pedal. You can check that on Roland's RUclips channel. There's a video showing that.
+333Lithium333 Unfortunately it doesn't seem to share the feature that the HD-1 and HD-3 have, which turns your hi-hat pedal into a second bass pedal. This would allow you to have a double kick without having to buy a new kick pad and an actual double bass pedal. Even on the low end, that modification would probably run you $250-300.

My point is this; do they make any noise directly from themselves, or does all of the sound will come out of your speaker. Just use the USB cable and a free drum plug in like Steven Slate Drums, it's easy, and the sounds are way better

Don't know about usb transfer. They have a newer kit now. Td1-tmk. Nice upgrade. All mesh heads, tower mount bass drum trigger for double pedal.
