Hi Chris! Just seen a poem you wrote and put on FB (im not on FB myself, a mate showed me it).
Both gutted but proud for you. Gutted your precious life had to cross the evil path that is drugs, genuinely proud that you have discovered that you are more.
Have never taken drugs myself so I cant speak from experience however I have experienced the effects drugs has on not just the addict but the people connected to them and. I can only liken it to a living hell. The addict does not just take themselves down, they take everyone with them.
The mid 90s, I worked in a supermarket and would spend my days chasing addicts out trying to shoplift. I had a soft spot for one lad, Ricky B. I lost track how many times Id catch him and say Ricky lad, you know your barred so we always had this little cat and mouse game. Its now 2024 and I still think about him. He had not been seen for weeks and we all just thought they have moved on to other areas to let the heat cool as they often did. I then heard he had been found In a tent, on his own, he had been in it for weeks before he had been found and had started to decompose because he had overdosed. He was in his mid to late 20s and had his whole life ahead of him. He rotted away in a tent while some low life scum was living the flash lifestyle.
Fast forward to today, I work next to two grown men that just spend morning, noon and night, day in, day out getting wrecked on coke, talking utter bollocks to each other and its so sad to think that is how little they value there live to be. I always remember watching a a documentary and a dealer was asked would you ever take drugs to which he replied fuck no, I know what shit goes in them!
You are a beautiful soul Chris and I truly hope as each second passes on your journey to staying clean that you remember, I am more.
Sending you a man hug. Subscribed x

Congratulations on 9 months in video now 11 months 🙏🏻 hopefully!
This is powerful stuff mate, I'm a recovering addict myself 15 months free of cocaine. Getting my life back, my family and true friends back. My self love and self worth and self respect back. Been a tough hard journey over 20 years of heart ache, addiction and have also thought about sharing over RUclips my life experience and how I have come out the other side still here to tell my story... CA has been massive for me, hearing other people's tragedies and rock bottom moments to be speaking infront of people with multiple years of sobriety is really real powerful stuff.
Stay on this path brother you are doing fantastic and love how you are wanting to help others like myself in not giving up and dieing in that ditch or crack den and making something of life... this is our calling in life!!
Peace and Love to you bro

Hi Chris, I found your channel through your posts in a local Facebook group. Congratulations on your sobriety, it's a tough but worthwhile path.
There's an open mic night in Staines run by Adam Gary (he has a great poetry RUclips channel on here). It does take place in a brewery (which I completely understand might be difficult and would hate for anything to impact your sobriety) but if you are ever wanting to attend an open mic, they are a really welcoming bunch who would appreciate your story (I'm an ironic setting) I found Adam's channel through my own experience of poetry as therapy, something he actively supports.
Anyway, just thought I would throw it out there. Keep safe 😊

Hi Chris, well done on your journey, i don't know much about drugs , i have 2 grown up kids and 6 grandchildren and I'm very pleased to say they never got involved with drugs growing up, that I'm thankful for. My grandchildren are all young ,12 is the oldest, so my interest is how to keep all our youngsters from touching them in the first place. They are everywhere, i think you and people like you that have dragged yourself to the other side are amazing and should talk and show youngsters why drugs are evil...... also by the way you look very healthy... 🤩

    • @chrisesjourney

Thank you so much for your message and for your kind words, I guess the best way is to educate them of the actual reality of drug addiction, not just the standard 'drugs are bad and you end up dead' which you do eventually but the homelessness, the crime, the suffering through loss of your family and friends, the dirty clothes, the not caring about whether you wash or not, the malnutrition, the constipation, the potentially losing a limb as I almost did and many have done. the list goes on. keep watching my videos to learn more yourself as I will be sharing interviews etc in the future talking about all o f these topics. The channel has not been going for four weeks yet so please keep following as I have some great shares for it over the next month or so. if you feel you want to talk confidentially you can contact me on chrisesjourney@outlook.com and i can point you towards family services that deal with education around addiction.
